I also thought it always was a great , well magical way to end the day at the mountain. Nothing like being on Goliath or Viper during the Firworks. Guess we have the flamethrowers on x2 now to make up for it Somehow me thinks this is just a costsaving move, it is not like the area experienced draught and watershortages in the past, especially during the 80's and 90's when fireworks went off daily without any problems. Dont see what the difference is now

According to the L.A.Times \ Six Flags Magic Mountain has indefinitely canceled the nightly summer fireworks show due to concerns about brush fires and the statewide drought declaration, amusement park officials said. The long-standing fireworks display was part of the evening parade held 30 minutes before the Valencia, California, amusement park closed each night, reported the Santa Clarita Valley Signal newspaper. (Hat tip to Blooloop) Magic Mountain officials wouldn’t speculate whether the fireworks finale would ever return. During the October 2007 Magic Fire, smoke billowed from behind Magic Mountain’s behemoth coasters but never forced the closure of the amusement park. http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/index.php/six-flags-magic-moun-2000/ This kinda sucks big times

From Screamscape: Late 2008 to 2009 - The Dark Knight Coaster - Rumor - (5/21/08) Could Six Flags Magic Mountain become the benefactor from the whole red-tape snafu that happened over the The Dark Knight Coaster project in New England? According to a reader in attendance at the media day for The Dark Knight Coaster in Chicago, they spotted a pair of management types from Six Flags Magic Mountain at the event. Thinking quickly they walked over and asked if SFMM would be getting a Dark Knight Coaster soon since there was one just sitting around in New England doing nothing right now. While the SFMM staff didn’t confirm that as the reason they were there checking it out, they did break out in a big wide smile and said that SFMM could certainly use one. Timing wise it all works out too as Shapiro is supposed to be at SFMM in the near future for the re-launch of X2 and likely will be discussing with the staff the future plans for the park for 2009 as well. As I’ve mentioned before, SFMM would be the perfect place for a winter launch for a Dark Knight Coaster since they could probably getting it ready just in time for the launch of the movie DVD before Christmas if they start soon.

What is your favorite Stand Up coaster?
alexinla replied to the ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think Riddler is likely the grandaddy of all stand up coasters, great look, great pacing, good theming, good times! -
I always thought a little lake in that area would do wonders. Tear down the Waterfront foodarea(which i think has been there since park opening) and build a updated version closer to the back of the theater. Use that newfound space for a little lake, like the one you can find at The Grove with some dancing fountains ( )and have seating to enjoy your food all around that fountain I know it probably will be cost prohibitive, but can you imagine how great that area would look?

Fledgling Coaster Rider to go to SFMM..
alexinla replied to Rocket Rodder's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I did Freefall once 10 times in the row. After that everything else was a piece of cake Unfortunatly you dont have that option on your visit this time -
^ I think that was mentioned at WCB and management is aware of the complaints about the parkinglot theme but is focusing $ on other projects in the near furture for now. Maybe in a couple of years they will do something to enhance the ride experience. Scream would deffinatly deserve it On another note, love that the crew celebrated Screams B-Day, it's kinda cute.

I am just amazed that Jay Thomas even would post here. It just shows you how dedicated he is in turning the park around. There are a couple of thousand people on here vs 2.6+million people visiting the park each year(hopefully more in the future) That he is even responding to some trolls who wine about $1 lockers is absolutely amazing and shows that he not only cares, but that he wants everyone to be proud of the park again I was one of these kids in the early 90's that was running around from coaster to coaster at the park. Now that i am getting older i really start to appreciate the beauty of the park itself, heck sometimes i just go there to chill, have some food and stroll around without even going on any rides(ok, Tatsu i have to,lol) To make a long story short, i think Magic Mountain is one of the most stunning looking parks in this country, if not even the world. So for them to take time to fix little things that an average parkgoer might not recognize is exiting in my book at least I for one am proud to call this my homepark and cant wait to see what is going to be in store for us in the years to come Just hope that the upper Six Flags Management is dedicated to the 5 year plan and not going to stop the $ for a little tlc that this park so greatly deserves

The last 10 pages is just some silly back and forth. If you dont want to spent an extra $1 to secure your items than dont go to an amusement park. Go to the movies for crying out loud. I think everyone made there point, can't we just move on from here and talk about Magic Mountain Updates(remember? topic name) before going thru another 10 pages of the same?

wow. i was there for media day when superman opend(i know i am old ) The best part of the ride when both cars run at the same time and you looked at the other car and see the faces, people yelling and screaming at each other. That was the best part of the entire ride If they could bring this back, i deffinatly will be overly impressed(not that i am already)

They also always offer the $40 upgrade to a season pass in addition to your paid park admission. If you get a coupon from Burger King now that gives you entrance for $29.99 (coupon is good until 12/31/08) The most you would pay is $69.99 even if they decide to raise to season pass(which i dont think the will ever do, should...hmmm...maybe...but probably not)

I love how people can post a short tripreport from actually inside the park. Pretty amazing. Enjoy your day! I am so happy that Magic Mountain has finally a management that actually cares. This is one of the premier parks in the world. First thing my friends from europe want to do when arriving in L.A. is to go to Magic Mountain, i am so glad the place finally gets the attention it deserves
