If a company cancels an event a couple of days before, I am sure there is a hefty penalty fine involved that probably covered the park costs for the extra 4 hours. If it was a nice day and enough people in the park, management probably thought that even if they have 5000 people in the park for these extra hours that will spent money on food, drinks, games, souvenirs e.t.c., it will be worth to might aswell keep it open

2008 Theme Park Attendance Reports
alexinla replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Something is not right in regards of SFMM, if I remember correct the park was in the 2.6-2.7 million range. No way they lost 700000+ people in one year. Also Knotts pulls in easy 500000 during haunt, without it the park would be in some serious trouble(especially considering it is open 364 days out of the year) -
James' 09 Season

I was just kidding, I grew up in germany, dont think i ever got carded for beer. I remember when i had to go to the supermarket to get groceries, including beer for my dad(cough), i was maybe 10, it was perfectly ok to get a 6pack. Well, next year I am expecting a different party for the europapark opening and of course that will come with a lot of crazier stunts on the skateboard(maybe a hospital visit, lol), random dogs and cats kidnapped and put on coasters and of course the the hungover pictures with all the prostitutes -

Great pics! Although I dont think they would remove the restrooms, maybe remodel but this area will see a lot more traffic and the closest restrooms will be either by goldrusher or Tatsu area, both of which are quite a walk -

That was one good episode though! I am sure you can search the forum, as when that episode aired(i think back in 2006), everyone was " THEY NUKED SFMM" -
The idea is good to have acts at Magic Mountain during new years eve, you just have to understand that you have to "grow" an event. I work for nightclubs and special events, worked for Giant and Gridlock/Paramount for there new years events that got canceled because of rain(yeah, it can rain in december, even in L.A.) and lost a ton of money Basically you can not just say, come to Magic Mountain, see Usher, Michael Jackson, Chris Brown and who not and it ends up raining just to have to cancel the event. You still have to pay the people, no matter if you make any Smart way to do it is to offer it as an option, see how it works and let it grow from there over the years

^^^ Ding! Ding! Ding! Although Universal has no naming rights to the new movie, i am sure they approached SFMM in a friendly way and asked to change the name that would not confuse the general public (which it will still as we all know how what idiots most of them are ) -

Both buildings look very similar though. Who knows what they were smoking in the 90's Edit: Looking closer, the building is pretty much is the same location but moved an 30% angle. They could have just cut the footers, turned the building and rest it on new footers. That's not to hard to do and pretty easy with a wood structure -

From what I understand is that boneyard area is not owned by Magic Mountain, only leased and that's why they dont build a coaster back there. Kinda makes sense as every coaster ever build there used the same footprint Same goes with the overflow parkinglot, which is not paved as that part is leased and not owned by the mountain -

I also think that it is very cool for them to document it, make light of the situation(as nobody was in danger) and actually explained the situation. And hell yeah, these 4 people should buy some lottery tickets asap -

The pictures of POP in ruins are hard to look at, so sad. And on a different note, how come my gender is unknown on these boards, what's up with that? lol MALE!
