Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I am probably more stoked about this than anything else mentioned from WCO. Every restaurant they have had here in the past has sucked, so it's nice to see that they are finally trying something completely different & unique - as well as local to the state to boot. Love the overall direction the park is going...but of course, when said park direction involves good food, cold beer and liquor, I will always love it. And of course, the 900 pound gorilla sitting at the Northern-most section of the park has piqued my interest as well -
^ I have seen it more than once in person when they were treating and cleaning it and I will say that it is one of the most morbid things that I have ever seen...and I like horror movies!

You sir...are a lucky man. How was the show?

^ Sounds like he passed from heart surgery complications and he was a bit nervous about it because he had admitted a couple of weeks prior that he been diagnosed with heart damage from a battle with rheumatic fever as a child. As someone that almost lost their partner recently due to surgical complications, my word of advice is to always seek a 2nd opinion before rushing into any type of surgery...even if the doctor tells you that "it's a common procedure with minimal risk".

That's what we did too...it was great. Definitely want to get back to this event again this year. If I don't go this year, I'll really want to go the following year. With RMC Mean Streak, Maverick, Skyhawk and Beers/BBQ, there would be no reason to leave that area of the park for the entire evening! -
Thee Oh Sees - Plastic Plant A friend of mine turned me onto this band a few weeks ago - A Weird Exits is one of the heaviest, most psychedelic things that I have ever heard (hence, the new avatar of the album cover). Awesome to see that there are bands out there that can still deliver some kick ass, heavy rock music.

This. Mutter is one of the coolest museums that I have ever been to. I can see Andrew totally getting into this - because he likes weird, cool sh%t...like Mr. Bungle. -
^ Thanks for sharing, Chuck! Michael's son and two grandkids from Virginia were up last weekend visiting him at the hospital and we were talking about InvadR. Both of the kids were stoked for it, which is cool considering his grandson is at an age where the bigger coasters like Apollo, Griffon and Alpengeist intimidate him. I believe the only coaster that he has ridden during multiple visits has been Verbolten - and he has even backed out of that a couple of times. I have a feeling that he will enjoy this one once he rides it.

^ I'll usually Yelp restaurants around parks & being German (and loving German food and beer), I'm surprised I missed this! Although I recall that we left the park at close and then drove north towards Indiana Beach before pulling off due to tornado watches and severe weather. At least we did stumble onto a place that actually served decent Buffalo wings with a pretty decent draft selection! I certainly won't do another visit to HW without checking the German restaurant out and downing a couple of Maß before heading back for a front seat ride on Voyage....sound like a good way to experience this coaster. Now back to your Kings Island thread.... I think these were BBQ medium Traditional hot Not a bad place. -
^ Thanks Bill...looks like the funeral won't be until March 4th in order to allow more of the family to come to town. In other news, we got Michael transferred back to Erie yesterday where he will have his specialists on site. Medicare was trying to deny his ambulance transports to & from his appointments, so we really didn't have much choice but to go back to Erie. What pisses me off is that we just found out today that he needs to have surgery on a bedsore that penetrated into his backbone...something that he should have never, ever have gotten during his hospital stay in Buffalo. This is playing a major role into why he isn't walking and home already. And my 12 weeks of FMLA ran out so I had to go back to work last Friday.

While comparing Beast and Hades is like comparing salt and pepper, I have to admit that when we we visited Mt. Olympus a few years ago and did the late night hours of operation (when we were pretty hammered), Hades was actually f%cking awesome in the front seat at like 12:30 at night. I'd like to try that on Voyage sometime, but ya know...the no alcohol thing. No offense, but Santa Claus don't like no boozers like me. -
My grandmother passed away yesterday at the age of 97. As sad as it is to have her pass, her past couple of years had not been what you could call "quality of life years" due to dementia. She was ready to go, so that makes grieving not quite as difficult as when someone gets taken from you well before you (or they) are ready. Good thing is that I got to visit her on Saturday, kiss her on the forehead and tell her that I love her...so I am also at peace with myself. She was a very strong, smart, stern woman and I will forever be proud to call her 'My Grandma'...lots of great memories and that's what matter most!

^ It's probably just unfiltered water from Conneaut Lake pumped from a hose & mixed with generic chlorine that was on clearance at Ace Hardware. -

I think that it's pretty cool that both Waldameer and CP are re-theming their water parks with regards to the history (and superstitions) of Lake Erie given their close proximity to it. -

^ Ahhhh...I see where you are coming from. That's a good point that I hadn't thought about. I know that there are probably no remaining marketing employees or design engineers that worked on the SoB project currently under the Cedar Fair regime, but a small part of me wonders if that travesty may have given CF second thoughts about going bigger, taller and faster here? Like they know Beast is the king of the park so why try and outdo it and just make a fun coaster that provides a similar, yet slightly different type of experience over The Beast? Dunno...but like you said...we'll know how this coaster will settle into the park in another seven years or so. -

I don't believe in conspiracy theories...people's stupidity & greediness in general just annoys the hell out of me. Anyway....back on topic. I didn't mean to break off the subject of Cedar Point's FOOD! (although I know that it pisses some people off)! -
^ OMFG...Six Flags didn't own the park when they added Rolling Thunder. And why do you think that they keep adding attractions to the water park...when it's almost ALWAYS crowded? I'm done....just f%cking done. Cuda Falls ; Cuda Falls ; Cuda Falls ; Cuda Falls ; Cuda Falls ; Cuda Falls ; Cuda Falls ; Cuda Falls ; Cuda Falls Cuda

That's what we were thinking too...we were all still laughing over the jist of the game after all was said and done. Luckily, we went from there to night ERT on Leviathan so it only took a couple of laps to dry off. That sucks, but I certainly understand where you are coming from, Robb. I'm really starting to lose faith in humanity unfortunately...sad, but true. If I could go into detail the sh%t that my partner and I have had to deal with in terms of doctors, insurance and Medicare while he is battling cancer (and numerous complications as a result), it would literally make you throw up. The more I realize how greed, money, power and just downright stupidity play a role in every day life, the more and more depressed I get.
