Have you ever seen an overhead layout of Goliath? It covers a lot of area. In fact, length-wise, it probably covers more area from one end to the other than any other coaster in the park. I will say it once more time. GOLIATH IS NOT TWISTY!!!! It has ONE COMPACT HELIX. It is no more or less twisty than about half of the other hypers out there. I don't understand the boner some people have for putting this ride and Titan in a "different category." It's a "Hyper Coaster." Deal with it. --Robb

Roller Coasters in the RAW Volume 4!

^ Thanks for letting me know and sorry about the mix-up. A new Disc 2 is already in the mail to you! If anyone else had this problem, please let me know ASAP so I can correct it! --Robb -
You're joking right? You can't possibly be serious. Your statement makes no sense. How is Goliath that different any more or less of a "twister" than several other hyper coasters? And how is it "so different???" You have seen pictures of other hyper coasters, right? You do know that many of them aren't much diffrent, right? Here, let me enlighten you... How is Goliath any more or less "twisty" or different than let's say SROS/Bizzaro... Or Expedition GeForce... Or Raging Bull... In fact, I'd even argue that this Goliath is MORE of a twister... Let me make something very clear... Goliath is a "Hyper Coaster" and that's what it's labeled as. ONE HELIX DOES NOT MAKE A COASTER A "TWISTER!!!" If you really need to pile another label onto it, then consider it to be a "Weak Hyper Coaster." I just don't understand why people feel the need to pile multiple descriptors on to something that's already defined. /end rant --Robb

THANK YOU! It's really not that hard. - Copy/paste the list - Delete the coasters you haven't ridden and mark them with a "Y" - Mark "Y" if you rode them this year - Rank them! I just don't understand how this is hard! --Robb -

My drawing of Hersheypark (with a surprise)

Have you considered submitting these to companies who do park maps? Seriously, you should hook up a gig with one of those guys! --Rob -
Oh, god no! I'm so happy they didn't touch the track layout! I love the random pops of airtime you get in the dark and I feel that if they had decided to go with a new track layout, we would have probably lost that. WDW's Space Mountan is currently my favorite of all of them (now that they've ruined Disneyland Paris' version) and I'm very happy to say the changes were not as drastic as I feared. I would have liked to have see an on board audio track, but like Tokyo's re-do, I don't think the ride suffers at all without one. --Robb

For the well-traveled enthusiast, Goliath is the weakest of the "majors" at SFMM and one of the weakest hyper coasters ever designed, IMO. But to the locals and for the park it's a HUGE win. It's tall, fast, incredibly intimidating for a lot of people, and extremely high capacity (especially if three trains are running.) I think most people who have never been any many other hypers come off absolutey **LOVING** it. But most enthusiasts who have been on the top ranking Intamin's or B&Ms usually feel differently. I am a big fan of hyper coasters, in fact, it's my favorite steel coaster style, and it just bums me out that the park down the street from me has one of my least favorite hypers. I give it courtesty ride during ERT at West Coast Bash, and that's pretty much it! --Robb

_____________________________________________________ http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/12/nyregion/12coney.html After a year of ultimatums, threats and stop-and-go negotiations, the Bloomberg administration has agreed to pay $95.6 million to a developer for seven acres in the heart of Coney Island, in a crucial step forward for its vision of turning the faded and dormant seaside amusement district into a glittering destination reminiscent of its heyday, according to executives on both sides of the negotiations. The city’s deal with the developer, Joseph J. Sitt, capped a long standoff between the two sides, with each claiming it had the best plan for the revival of the fabled playground, but neither able to bring those plans to fruition in a deadly real estate market. The city will announce the deal on Thursday, but the reality of a revived Coney Island remains a long way off. Mr. Sitt began buying land in Coney Island in 2005, promising a modern, Las Vegas-style resort with hotels and condominiums among the rides. Today, much of the land sits vacant. While the Cyclone roller coaster, the Wonder Wheel and Nathan’s hot dog stand remain, the Thunderbolt, Child’s restaurant and even the Astroland amusement park are gone — cleared away for new ventures that were never built. Mitch Hawker's Coaster Poll 2009!
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is one of those questions where I just feel like saying "*sigh*, just use Ted's helper...." But to fully answer your question, on the Idiot's guide: http://www.themeparkreview.com/mitch.htm The second line of the guide says: First off, you need to know where to get your ballot. It can be found HERE! And if you follow that link you'll see right in front of you: 2009 Wood Poll Ballot I guess I'm not seeing how this is so difficult or confusing for people. --Robb -
