  1. It actually was quite interesting. We talked to two of the stunt men, they talked about how they did some of the stunts and brought out some of the props used in the show. For the Animal show they did a little meet & greet and photo op with a couple of the animals. I thought that it was a really nice bonus perk for someone getting the Gate A passes, and for people who know nothing about the amusement industry, it would have been an even better value. --Robb
  2. It's that and I think it's not a fan of camera interview. He almost didn't do it, so I'm glad we got what we did! --Robb
  3. Here is the fourth and final installment of our IAAPA Video Report as well as our final collection of photos! This video installment includes: - B&M Interview with Walter Bollinger - Dollywood's Pete Owens - PTC's Tom Rebbie - Lo-Q (The makers of Q-Bot/Flash Pass) - Snow Toobin' in Las Vegas - The Mini-Starflyer - And MORE! Here is our final IAAPA Photo Update... IAAPA Day Two! PTC represent! Tom Rebbie and Robb Alvey chat about coasters and kids! PTC has worked on a TON of roller coasters! This was a Premier ride??? Awesome! Bongo Beat is kind of like "Whack-a-Mole with Monkey." Amusement Today will have an interesting announcement later today. Hey look! It's our Japanese friend from Intamin! OMG! Those things got bigger overnight!!! There are a few TPR members who could benefit from this. Hanno points to a full spread of his photos in Amusement Today. The National Roller Coaster Museum announced that their building facility has been constructed! Separating from ACE seemed to do the trick to actually get this project going! Robb hangs out with TPR friend Pete Owens from Dollywood! We will see you again during our tour in 2010! They got the actual facade that used to be the entranceto the Texas Cyclone! Time to check out inflatable dinosaur butts. Dino butts and King Kong. Check! This could be some nice views of Las Vegas. The mini starflyer really isn't that mini. Portable band organ anyone? Let's hope the mini Starflyer doesn't kill us too much! I swear I can buy these chains at Home Depot! IAAPA from the view of the Starflyer! Is that a football stadium I see down there??? Helllloooooo Las Vegas Monorail! Is that snow toobin' I see? In Las Vegas??? A pile of snow? Check! Las Vegas Monorail? Check! Snow Toobin in Las Vegas!!! Watch out for falling snowballs. It's funny because it sounds like YouTube. It's an entire football stadium! This seriously has to be the biggest inflatable I've ever seen! Giant Cow anyone? Something new from Swiss Rides for 2010. It was like an explosion of sound! The food at IAAPA wasn't as appealing as in previous years. Now that's how you eat a chick! There is a Robb Alvey in that skeleton mess somewhere! What would Boobs be like...on Mars?!?!?! They spelled Zorb wrong. Remember kids, if you can't get the rights to something, just change it ever so slightly and you're fine! Now THAT looks like an amazing bowling game! These two can roll my balls anytime! Whatever this turns out to be...Elissa approves! Ok now we are hitting the rock bottom of IAAPA. I'm not even sure how to comment. Although, the guy in the cage slightly resembles other Eric Johnson! It wouldn't be a show about amusement parks without some SkeeBall. Although I wonder if they know about Metric Skeeball!?!?! MagiQuest has a pretty large booth. Guns don't kill people, children who play video games made by Cameron with guns kill people! (And Animals too!) Hi Cameron. Creepiest thing of the entire show! I want to be Big. Max. Buff. And sailor. Dave, we found you a perfect Guitar Hero controller!!! So Jeff, what do you think of the show so far? Oh man, this is why they really shouldn't let ACEers into the show. FREE PIZZA!!!! Would you rather have Hanno driving the beer cooler scooter.... ...or the hot chick with amazing cleavage? To answer... EMAIL DAN!!! mrt0ad13@aol.com Ok, IAAPA, we will see you in Orlando next year! We hope you enjoyed our IAAPA coverage! Post your comments please! --Robb Special thank you to Hanno for the photos and being camera man!
  4. If the park is in fact busy, absolultely! --Robb
  5. You do realize that there are more parks that DON'T have them, than do, right? In fact, outside of the Disney and Universal parks in the US, I can't think of any other park that has a central ride board. I agree they are a good idea, but I think the infastructure that is required to have such a thing is probably quite expensive. --Robb
  6. ^ Can someone please contact Cedar Fair and tell them if they are going to send Demon Drop anywhere to send it to a park that DOESN'T already have a mondern drop tower attraction...like Michigan's Adventure. Seriously, can someone let Cedar Fair know? I get the feeling they are using an iPhone app to pick where rides go. They input the name of a ride, shake the phone, and the park where it's going to go is displayed. --Robb
  7. Wow! Looks like that building is gone! Before - After - I don't even think most people were aware that building existed. --Robb "How many years has it been since there was a show in there?" Alvey
  8. ^ Heh, I saw you for like 10 seconds and only realized it was you for like the last 2 seconds! Glad you had a good time! --Robb
  9. That weekend can be very busy, yes, so be prepared! --Robb
  10. ^ LOL! Is *THAT* what that was? I feel so much better now that the mystery has been cleared up! --Robb
  11. Please let us know if the effects are working. We were there on Sunday and the fire didn't work and you could barely hear the audio. --Robb
  12. IAAPA Video Report Part 3 - This segment includes: - Interview with S&S' Stan Checketts - Thinkwell Design Craig Hanna - FlowRider - Water Park Equipment - And most importantly... MINI DONUTS!!!! (And Pancakes!) Enjoy the video!
  13. ^ LOL! That was awesome! New video up being uploaded now!
  14. Theme Park Review was featured on The Gravity Group's blog "GravityCast": http://thegravitygroup.com/gravitycast/more-timberliner-coverage-from-iaapa/ --Robb
  15. ^ No, we actually talked about our families, kids and other stuff. Didn't really talk about the park at all! --Robb
  16. ^ Technically I recorded the intros/outros all at the same time...so yeah....they'll be a bit generic! Sorry about spoiling the magic! --Robb
  17. Part 2 of our IAAPA Video Report has been posted! This video includes: - Story time with GCI's Chris Gray - What's new from Proslide - Robb flips upside down at Mack Rides - Halloween Maze Props - Bumper Cars - MORE!!! Enjoy the video....
  18. Andrew "You decide" Iorio Yeah, that's fake. Please stop this nonesense and wait for an official press release. --Robb
  19. Ok, so I just wanted to put this out there... I don't remember what water park in Australia is getting the looping water slide and I didn't pick up the pamphlet (we didn't really collect much IAAPA stuff this year to be honest...too much stuff to carry already!) I want to say that I *think* it said something about "Village Roadshow" but I really don't know what that means or if that's even correct. Sorry to all the Aussies for not paying closer attention and after receiving about 10 emails asking the same thing, I guess I should have looked closer. --Robb
  20. Are you kidding? Have you ever been to the park with a child under 48"? Outside of Bugs Bunny World there isn't much for a child under 48" and especially not under 42" to ride. I would absoultely love a few more family rides sprinkled throughout the park. Think about it, other than some games, there is not a 42" ride between Roaring Rapids and Jet Stream. And that's quite a long walk! And if you want an attraction UNDER 42", geez, you gotta walk from the Carousel to the Scrambler. Take a kid to the park sometime and you'll see what I mean. --Robb EDIT: Sorry, reading back over your post it is very confusing if you were for or against them putting kids rides near other rides.
  21. ^ I ran into Ole and Tom and chatted for a couple of minutes but didn't see anything. They did say how much they appreciated the activity on TPR about their game. --Robb
  22. While SFSTL may not have any "kiddie coasters", they do actually have 3 family coasters with a 42" height restriction as well as many other non-coaster kiddie rides including a dark ride. In fact, they only have three rides (2 coasters and 1 flat ride) with a height restriction taller than 48" which already makes that park a bit more "family friendly" than SFMM. SFMM does *need* a family ride. And if that ride ends up being a Roller Skater I really don't think that's a bad addition to the park. I mean, as someone already pointed out, Disneyland has one, and if it counts as a popular family ride there, why can't it also be a popular family ride at Magic Mountain? Just because it's not the family ride *YOU* wanted to see installed, doesn't mean it's not a good addition to the park. Stop being so selfish. --Robb
  23. They were doing stuff with Westcoaster and we both had different agendas. --Robb
  24. I received an email today from Six Flags Magic Mountain's park officials in response to the question about the Vekoma Roller Skater rumor and they tell me the *ONLY* official press release about the new coaster is as follows: So what has been posted to URC is simply speculation and is nothing "official" as it doesn't reference any real news source or official industry source. Personally, I feel that URC posting that news making it look like an official press release is very irresponsible of them and makes them even less of a credible source in my eyes. Once again, the official word from the park is that they have not released any information about what the coaster is. So you may all continue to speculate... --Robb
  25. ^ It totally is. He told me he uses it to play all the time!
