  1. Sometimes it just amazes me what actually gets printed in the news. There are so many things wrong in this article I don't even know where to begin! http://www.sun-sentinel.com/features/lifestyle/sfl-licoasterjun21,0,4577655.story Translation: "Butt Lifter" = Airtime "Corkscrew" = Helix "Florida's Tallest Coaster" = NOT Dania Beach Hurricane! --Robb "I wonder what coaster, or what drugs this guy was on!" Alvey
  2. ^ And just remember where that traffic came from! --Robb "Don't forget about us when your site is making you millions!" Alvey
  3. ^ Wow, that is probably the most accurate description of SFMM's coaster selection ever! Funny, yet sad at the same time! --Robb "They could always build a 2nd hyper....Cedar Point did!" Alvey
  4. OK, here are my thoughts: SFGAdv (2 days) - Keep in mind that Kingda Ka probably won't be open. If you get a Qbot, you probably won't need two days at this park. So maybe you could hit up Clementon on day two? Or maybe Clementon and WildWood? But if you are going to do two days, I would reccomend getting a Qbot at least one day. That will help make your day much better unless for some reason you get there and there are no queues for anything. SFA - I haven't been here in a few years so I don't know what kind of FastLane they use. Remember that Wild One is a "front seat" ride, meaning anywhere in the front car will probably do. PKD - Go to Hypersonic RIGHT when the park opens, otherwise you might be waiting 2-3 hours for it. BGW - They run this park pretty good. You shouldn't need to worry about too many hassles. Hershey - Remember that Hershey does that deal that if you buy your ticket the night before for the next day, you get in the last three hours of that night for free. So if your schedule allows, try to get to Hershey early the night before your day there and you can get some nights rides in! ALthough, it's a long drive from BGW to Hershey so this might not be possible. Knoebels - Depending on the crowds, sometimes this park is better to do on a ticket day rather than a wristband day. The reason? I've noticed that on wristband days they sometimes don't run two trains. On ticket days they almost always do! The more people they get through the turnstile, the more tickets they collect. It's almost better to pay a little more and get double the rides on Phoenix and Twister. Dorney - If you like water parks, this one is great! If not, you may find yourself bored here after 3-4 hours. Lake Compounce - Same as Dorney. It's not a full day park. Make sure you do the sky ride, it's nice. SFNE - Get a Qbot and ride SROS a LOT!!!! Also, try the very back seat of Cyclone if you would like a very insane ride! (but you might get your spine adjusted too!) I hope this is what you are looking for! --Robb
  5. Hey everyone! I just wanted to say a big thank you to Ted and Gregg who helped looked after the board while we were in Europe. Thanks guys!!! I know it seems weird, but Elissa and I have always said that we don't really want a massive staff of "moderators" or "admins" on this board. So really, from time to time when we need help, the Ass-sistants will be back! Thanks guys!!! --Robb "Until our next big trip or until the site gets too unruly..." Alvey
  6. ^^ JamminJ, is that you at the end of Jonny Hawkins' video getting wet by Saturator? If so that made me laugh me ass off!!!! --Robb
  7. Yes, as long as it's not like an obnoxious banner or spam ad or anything. Just look at other people's sigs and you'll get the idea. --Robb
  8. OMG! I can't believe the amount of responses!!!! Stupid Ted and your avatar! It's all your fault!!! Seriously, these are so much fun! Voting will start on Monday and the winner will get something cool! Maybe their avatar printed out and signed by Ted? Yeah, that would be such a kick ass prize! When I move the forum over to the new server I'll have a "RatTums" and a "Fanatic" section for the avatars. --Robb
  9. Ok, I just want to clear something up because I got a PM from someone asking how they should now post about a future trip to a park and seeing if anyone wants to meet up. It is totally FINE to post a message saying "Hey everyone, I'm going to be at such and such park and a certain day, does anyone want to go?" And even add it to the calendar if you want as an 'un-official TPR meet.' What is NOT FINE is when someone uses the "Photo TR" title for a post that says "I'm going to such and such park and eventually there will be photos, but not until I get back..." That's lame, IMO. So once again, just live by this simple rule: "Only use the Photo TR title when there are photos in your message body!" Any other type of post, for example a 'lets meet up post' is not a Photo TR, so that's totally fine! Any questions! --Robb
  10. Nice TR and stuff as I've never seen someone give a rating to the parking lot tram....and it got the same rating as Torando! But I'm curious about something, instead of going through all that trouble putting the links at URL's, why didn't you just put them as IMG links so they show up in the TR? If you're worried about getting hits to the photos, you get the same amount if someone clicks on the link or if they show up in a forum posting. I don't know about anyone else, but I am far less inclined to click on links to photos especially when there are so many good Photo TR's and include them in the message body without having to do any extra work. --Robb "Just my 2 cents" Alvey
  11. I think it's pretty unlikely that it's a woodie. First off, that would be a very difficult spot to build the structure for a wooden coaster! And the areas where the markers are placed, it doesn't look like it's that spread out of a ride. But I agree, I also wouldn't mind having a nice Intamin woodie at SFMM! All they need to do is rip out Psyclone and Balder would fit nicely there! --Robb
  12. ^^ Mike, I'm pretty sure they are 'elevation' markers, not 'elevator'. --Robb
  13. Bethany is going to be 15 in Jan and Dallas just turned 10.
  14. Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Fårup Sommerland, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. Official Park Website Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. 15. ^ LOL! That's what I was thinking too! --Robb "The line ride rules!" Alvey
  16. ^ Yeah, that's kind of why I took the more comical approach. We know they are building something, we know there will be a queue, but anything more than that, and I might as well speculate the height and speed of Fence: The Ride! On a side note, the "Fence: The Ride" thing comes from many many years ago, before Oblivion was built, someone posted photos of new footers at Alton Towers. They claimed to be for a new coaster, and they turned out to be for a fence! --Robb "And now maybe it's SFMM's turn to build Fence: The Ride!" Alvey
  17. IMO, I'd say that four of those have a pretty good chance of getting built. First I've heard about the China one. --Robb
  18. For the latest November 12th, 2005 photos, click the link below: http://www.themeparkreview.com/sfmmnew06/current.htm NEW PAGE CREATED WHERE YOU CAN SEE ALL THE PHOTOS! July 8th, 2005 (Scroll Down) Since I got home early from work today I figured I'd take a stop by the mountain and see what was happening on the hillside. Much to my surprise, there were markers EVERYWHERE! Reading what is on them it seems that a lot of questions have been answered: - Where the queue station is going to be. - Where the overflow queue line is going to be - Where some supports and footers are going to go - Areas that are marked for elevation Of course, the big question still remains "What are they constructing?" This could very well be a really large fence! But the rumors have said it's a new coaster, and the rumors have also said that an older SFMM may be removed in the process. Most people have been speculating either Ninja or the Log Jammer, but being that there aren't markers anywhere near those two rides, and there are LOTS of markers around Orient Express and the Sky Tower, that makes me wonder even more. I'm not going to add any fuel to the rumor fire, I figure that will be left to all of you to speculate! But remember, all of this is JUST RUMOR, there has been NOTHING CONFIRMED, and as always, wait for the official announcement before you claim anything as "fact." We will continue to bring you as many construction updates as possible once there is some more action. So if you want to see what's going on at SFMM for 2006, keep your browser pointed here! That being said, onto some photos!!! Yeah, those flags are REALLY close to the Orient Express tracks! Let the speculation begin!!!!! Back down the hill we go! This little guy is all "Please don't tear down my nice gardens for Fence: The Ride!" This is all that's left of the old oriental gardens. Ahh, here it is! "Fence: The Ride" in all it's glory! Could this be the 'old ride' rumored to be removed? It's not like it's been open for years anyway! That's getting very close to the Sky Tower! Well, now that is a very interesting place for a marker. A closer look. Anyone know what those numbers might mean? More markers, but this time up by the Sky Tower. You guessed it! More queue building! Maybe this is actually NOT "Fence: The Ride" but "Queue Building: The Ride!" Hmm...I wonder what those little flags say? This photo will give you a better idea of where the queue building is going. More trees going bye bye it seems. Damn, there sure are a LOT of these little flag thingys! Looks like some trees have been marked for removal. I sure hope they use the wood for the fence! Ahh, here we go, this looks more like elevation and support markers! For the fence...that is..... The Queue walkway doesn't just take over the current path, there are also markings for it in the trees down by the games area. Seems that if "Fence: The Ride" is going to be popular, it needs a lot of overflow queue! Here you can see the pathway for the queue. Damn, this queue building construction takes over quite a bit of the hillside. Oooh, that queue building is going to be RIGHT NEXT to the incline railway...or the railway will be going ......hmm...... Wow, there is a lot of them right up against the Orient Express tracks! Yup, looks like "Fence: The Ride" is going to have quite a large queue building! Here is a marker that is on the left of the path if you are heading up towards Samurai Summit. Hey! Maybe even "Fence: The Ride" will need a nice queue building! More QBLDG and Elevation markers. These "Q Bldg" markers were on the path that heads down the hill (from the games at the bottom to the stairs leading to Orient Express) Upon closer insepection, they would appear to be "Elevation Markers." But are they? And for what? Even a nice big new fence might need elevation markers! Hmmm...whatever is going here is going to be VERY close to the tracks. Is there enough room for the incline railway and whatever those are markers for? Riding up Orient Express you can start to see markers on the Log Jammer side of the ride. Fortunatley for us, the gate at the bottom of the hill by the coffee shop was OPEN! Could there be a new coaster on this hill next year? Hmm.... There is a lot of activity on both sides of the Orient Express tracks. Could this be the rumored 'old ride' that is going to be removed?
  19. I really think some of the best photos to come out of the entire Europe trip was Joey and the German chicks!!!! --Robb
  20. Hey there European TPR readers! After getting back from our trip and listening to some of the music that we thought might be a good fit for our next DVD, we realize that a lot of the music we had been thinking about just won't fit at all. It just doesn't "remind" us of Europe. While we were over there, we heard tons of "distinctly European" songs. Many of them not even in English, but they were GREAT! Can you please recommend some of the more 'poppy', 'rock' or 'upbeat' songs that would be considered "distinctly European?" --Robb "And please god, NOT that 'lonely' song we kept hearing everywhere!!!" Alvey
  21. ^ OMG! That is the funniest thing I've ever seen! 1. Because how random was it that there was someone from the site also in that audience and... 2. Because Elissa trying to "act" in that show was the funniest damn thing EVER!!!! You should post a little video clip! --Robb
  22. I actually did give him permission years ago when I was doing somet stuff with RCT and Chris Sawyer. To be honest, I had totally forgotten about it! He links to our site and stuff so it's cool with me. --Robb "Thread closed." Alvey
  23. First off - stop arguing. Secondly, I'd just like to say how embarassing the American news is, at least here in L.A. They have spent most of the morning discussing how security is 'beefed up' at Union Station, bus terminals, gas stations, pizza huts, etc.... What about what's going on where the bombs actually happened???? --Robb "I really don't need the hourly amtrak security report!" Alvey
  24. ^ I hope you guys can meet up with us! --Robb "Still bummed Tom didn't make it to Holiday Park!" Alvey
  25. ^ Ahh, yes, that bugs me too. Basically the rule of thumb should be, if you use "Photo TR" in your title, have photos in your post! I mean, I *LOVE* checking out people's Photos TRs, as I'm sure most other people do too, and I for one always get bummed out when I click on the Photo TR and DON'T see any photos! --Robb "Just trying to make the forums a bit better for everyone!" Alvey
