Selling Vintage Roller Coaster Shirts
josephwanek replied to josephwanek's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, I had to pay about $50 for their celebrity endorsement! -
I'm selling three REAL vintage tshirts from the 80's right now on eBay. The shirts are all about "small" and are: Z-Force at SFOG which was taken to SFMM and renamed Flashback (now defunct) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300266136428&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123 Ninja at SFStL (formerly called Six Flags Over Mid-America) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300266156758&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123 Vortex at King's Island http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300266131144&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123 Just thought I would pass along these classic roller coaster merchandise gems!

Maybe this is just common sense, but do not use your credit card at a pay phone. My cell phone went dead last week at Disneyland and we didn't have any change. We were late for meeting our ride and had to find out where they were picking us up. Thinking that I would be charged the regular 25 cents, I did it. The phone call was local and was less than a minute. When I got my credit card bill, $7.60 was charged! I called the company and they said it was $5.50 in operator fees, and misc. fees. WTF! So just to warn you other naive people out there like me, just ask someone for change for a dollar.

I will also be there about that time, but is it better to go during the week? What about X or the current status of the other coasters there? We are planning on going to Magic Mountain, Knotts, Disney, Pacific Park, and Adventure City (since I heard it was closing or something). Any other typical tourist things anyone would recommend? Thank you in advance!

I'm having trouble downloading some of the videos. I got the Sea World and the PKD one to work but the other ones start downloading and then a few seconds later it says download complete. When I open the file it says "file corrupted". Is anyone else having this problem? Edit: Ok nevermind, I got it to work.

Mall of America/Camp Snoopy?
josephwanek replied to pvcoasterguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Timberland Twister is pretty fun, but its nothing amazing. Same for Ripsaw, but Ripsaw is really smooth and it feels like your just gliding around. TT was actually not as smooth as I thought it would be when I went last summer. And if you are a really big coaster credit whore (like myself) then you can do the Lil' Shaver coaster. The log ride and the Mighty Axe ride are both pretty fun as well. All in all, Camp Snoopy is as fun as you could have at a mall, but geared more towards families rather than thrill seekers. Oh and in the mall, try to visit the "As Seen On TV" store. Its kind of fun. -
Yeah I hate when people think that the local Six Flags is the only one in the world. Or a girl asked me the other day "Do you think they have different rides at other Six Flags? Wouldn't that be cool, because I'm sick of SFGAm's roller coasters." The funny thing is, before I became an enthusiast, I'm not sure how much I actually knew about different parks either. I'm sure we've all said some pretty stupid things about coasters in the past.

Vote For Your Favorite Vekoma Avatar!

^ Ghosts? I don't really get it.... -
Damn it! I hope it goes somewhere else so I can still get the credit. I hate when a coaster is just scraped instead of sold. I wish parks would give more warning ahead of time to when they are going to take something out. I like when some parks say "Come ride it for its last season" so at least people know what to expect.

Oh crap, are their really ticks at Williams Grove?! I am going there this summer so I'll remember to watch out. -
Kingda Ka Opening Day Set
josephwanek replied to Token Yankee Guy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ok I know this topic is about Kingda Ka but I have a SFGAdv question. This might be stupid but is Viper operating? SBNO? Defunct? I thought I heard something about it going to be scraped this year but I'mnot sure. -
Disaster Transport at CP

Yeah they closed DT when it was raining a few years ago. We decided to go on that because of the rain but they had shut it down. -
Cedar Point now testing with people

^ Yeah, that actually happens all the time. -
^ Well, actually, I love Millennium Force because I get so much airtime. Raging Bull just feels too safe and smooth. To me it feels like a small train ride. I've actually gotten more thrill from a kiddie coaster. Same thing with Nitro though, I just get no thrill from it. But you're right, to each his own! P.S. I do think it somewhat has to do with the trims. Especially after them, I feel like the train is crawling.

I was there today too, the very short lines were awesome. However, the weather was not. Had a great time though. We got to ride almost all the coasters about 3 times. Although I still have no idea why people rate Raging Bull so highly. I think it is so forceless that it feels like you're about to roll back on some of the hills. Joseph "Its more like a Baby Bull" Wanek Joey and I with Daffy and...whatever the cat's name is. After we took this picture with them, we passed them twice later in the day and both times they got really excited and waved at us and tryed to get us to dance with them. Crazies... Ok, I also don't know what's so great about Viper but I appear to be having fun anyway. The weather even killed the blow-up Mr. Six! This is pretty much all the cars in the parking lot.

Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
josephwanek replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That same thing happened to my on an S&S Space Shot. It almost felt like 2 or 3 clicks acually. I held on really tight for the rest of the ride too! -
Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
josephwanek replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seriously, I think we can all agree on fairs/carnivals being scary and unsafe. Last year at the Iowa State Fair I went on 2 kiddie coasters. Both of them were shakey and went way faster than they should of. My friend Liz is afraid of coasters but I got her on both of them. The whole time she just held on really tight and said, "Oh Jesus, oh Jesus!"
