  1. That might also explain why they posted an image of it after the "Helix" teaser. If it's as you said about the Hershey one then it sounds quite all right, but according to the GP article then it's something "for the whole family" which doesn't scream thrilling and inversions. So it might be something really bland in the end. Just little over 2 more days until we know, me and my brother might try and get into the press release and might even try and do live updates or something.
  2. I really hope that it will be something more than that on the Mack link, a Power Coaster isn't all that fun really, even if it's spinning and is inverted. I would love to see something more thrilling than one of those. The only really intense coaster is Kanonen, the rest of them are for the family (yes even Balder). And Liseberg have in the past years removed a most of their thrilling attractions (just keeping the towers and swinging attractions). The need more variations in their line-up. But if they do decide to have it helix around Atmosfear, then we can at least get the benefit that it will give some extra height around Atmosfear giving it some extra fear on the drop Speaking of the Helix, It may be that they do a similar lift to those found at Eurosat/Euro-Mir/etc. around the tower, that would be AWESOME!! Here is a bonus picture that my brother took while we were on a behind the scene tour at Liseberg. Let me present the Lisebergbanan "Tank" that were made to tow the trains if they happened to stall on the track (which they will do if they lack passengers when they are cold). It's now remote controlled, but used to have a drivers seat for an operator, but it must have been a boring job since it takes the tank about an hour to make one lap of the track. It can be seen when they operate the switch-track to the "inner" storage track, since it has it's own at the rear of the station.
  3. Heide Park in Germany were going to get an Aqua-Trax, but they ended up with an Accelerator instead...
  4. According to the speculations on the ride that GP (Gothenburg Post) have in their article today, then it might be something along the lines of Euro-Mir, since it's apparently something that spins and will be made by Mack, so it seems plausible. Link to article: http://www.gp.se/nyheter/goteborg/1.1085818-attraktionen-som-ska-radda-liseberg [swedish] We just have to wait a few days to see what it will be...
  5. According to the original article it was his daughter's birthday, and he didn't want her scarred for life for having such an occurrence happening on her birthday when she was young. So he manned out until she was home until he left there. But yeah, embarrassment could be the real answer the other thing could just be an excuse, but it's a really good one and very considerate.
  6. I agree with both of you, the kids in Stockholm are much ruder than others here in Sweden. As long as you don't encounter the newest thing that is happening at Gröna Lund then you consider yourself lucky. Kids are stealing other kids wristbands. SOURCE
  7. Really nice little report you posted here. Glad that you had a great time in the parks.
  8. I misunderstood a thing about Joypolis, it have always been 3 floors high, 3rd to 5th. From what I can understand from the Japanese webpage of Oidaiba Decks, then according to the latest floor plan (May 15th 2012) then there is a large space on the 4th floor, that says "coming soon", which I think is the Legoland Discovery Centre, the Lego shop on the other hand would be located on the 3rd floor. I don't know more about Muscle park more than it was located on the 5th floor, do you have an old floor plan or even photos that could give it's general location in the building? So it's hard to tell what have happened really with the space, we just have to wait and see until someone goes there to have a look.
  9. It seems like it ended up on the 3rd floor, where as the Muscle Park was on the 5th based on what I found on the web (is this correct?) So maybe Joypolis took over the space after the Muscle Park and a bunch of restaurants/shops were closed and cleared for Legoland is what I think have happened, based on the maps and stuff I have found. So anyway, a new place to visit in Tokyo, not bad at all. And with a completely renovated Joypolis which opened yesterday then it can be a nice time to go there now.
  10. Liseberg just posted an English version of the press release so now everyone here interested in the details can read it all: Liseberg plans biggest investment ever for kids in 2013 Liseberg plans biggest investment ever for kids in 2013 2012-07-09 06:55 To mark its 90th anniversary in 2013 Liseberg intends to celebrate with the biggest investment in the history of the amusement park. Nearly SEK 200 million will be invested in total in the park, and the biggest present of all is for the kids – a massive 10,000-square-metre Rabbit Land. Kids will clearly be the centre of attention when Liseberg celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2013. The old children’s area will be renovated and extended to provide seven new attractions, food outlets, shops, wheels of fortune and games. Part of the area will become Rabbit Land – the rabbits’ own universe right in the heart of Liseberg. Storgatan will also be extended down to the river running through the park and a West Coast site will be established near Liseberg Harbour. “We’re proud and excited about these new additions for 2013. We’ve chosen to focus on Liseberg’s real guests of honour: the children. This is a project that involves a great deal of heart, creativity and quality – everything that makes Liseberg so special. It will be tremendous fun to welcome new generations of guests when we open in April,” says Andreas Andersen, CEO of Liseberg. In addition to the new attractions in Rabbit Land, the old Rabbit House will be transformed into a large playground. This will not be a traditional playground, but one that only the Liseberg Rabbits could imagine building. It will be a place where kids can play with the Rabbits in the most imaginative ways – and they won’t need a ride pass or ticket. Next to Rabbit Land there will be a picnic area, a frequently requested feature for guests who want to bring their own food to the park. For those who prefer not to picnic there will be a new family restaurant with three units: Burger King with 250 seats outdoors, the Rabbits’ own pancake restaurant and a sandwich restaurant for those guests looking for a healthier option. Work actually began in secret a few weeks ago, but will begin seriously in early September. The Rabbit Land will open in April 2013, when Liseberg opens the gates for its 90th season. Facts Total investment in Rabbit Land, Storgatan and West Coast area: SEK 195 million. Total area: 13,000 square metres. Rabbit Land Area: 10,000 square metres. New rides: New Oldtimers Cars, Cycle Monorail, Mini Free Fall Towers, Flying Wheel Tower, Childrens Roller Coaster, Flying Carousel and Balloon Carousel. Rides that will move: Cycle Ride, Kiddie Bumpers and Pony Carousel. Rides that will be updated: Teacups and Rabbit Ride. Rides that will disappear: Original Oldtimers, Little Frogs, Kiddie Flight Carousel and Trummeliten Carousel.
  11. According to the acceleration data we got of the ride on out visit there last august then the I would say about 75 km/h. The launch force is about 1g and the duration is roughly 2.1 seconds. It's very similar to Rita and Desert Race, but with a top hat at the beginning and much smaller, so the lower speed is really expected. 1 g = 9.8 m/s^2 9,8 m/s^2 * 2.1 s = 20.6 m/s 20.6 m/s * 3.6 (value for converting from m/s to km/h) = 74 km/h The ride though is excellent, one of the best accelerators I have ridden, mainly because it doesn't induce massive headaches as it's larger siblings does. Here is the complete graph of the forces on Senzafiato: red = acceleration, blue = vertical, green = lateral
  12. ^ Yeah I have seen that rumour as well, but with no date on it at that time. But 2014 seems like a strong possibility, then they have replaced most of the old "extreme" rides with new ones, and with the new wheel in place and the old one that will be leaving at the end of the season, makes me think that the new coaster will en up on the mountain and since Virvelvinden is the oldest of the "extreme" rides it might as well be due to be replaced at that time, so I would bet that a new coaster on the mountain is what we will see in 2 years...
  13. Well the total cost of all this is close to twice as much as they spent on Balder so it's really huge for the park itself. This is also a step on them trying to turn themselves into a fully fledged Theme Park instead of just an Attraction Park with nice gardens they were before. The attractions that have been added over the last few years, have had a bit more than just the ordinary bushes/fences around them, so this is a natural step into something new for the whole park, I just hope that they will carry this on towards the next projects in the future, so we don't end up with more attractions with boring surroundings like Balder/Kanonen... In 2021 there is the 400 th anniversary of Gothenburg as well, so there might be something massive planned for that as well, seeing that Gothenburg got Liseberg for their 300 th anniversary (sure 2 years late, but who cares ).
  14. ^ If you look at the overhead, then Rabalder is still there at the bottom centre, the new one will is in the top left corner, you can see the curving roof of the station next to the top left corner of the cycle monorail.
  15. Today Liseberg announced their plans for the next year, which would also be the parks 90:th anniversary since it opened for public 1923. On the 80:th birthday they got Balder, but this time it's all focused on the children and families. This is the largest investment the park have even undertaken, a total of 23 million € is what this present will cost, about twice as much as Balder. They are doing a complete revamp on the kid section of the park and making it into a full fledged "Kaninland" (Rabbit land) for the parks own mascot. The Revamp will completely transform the whole area and many rides will be replaced/revamped/moved to new locations in the area. Overview of the area New kiddy coaster Links (in Swedish): Liseberg homepage about the area: Liseberg.se Link to the press release: MyNesdesk.com Liseberg Facebook page with more images, etc: Liseberg - Facebook An article in the local newspaper: GP.se I forgot to mention that Liseberg recently opened another attraction in the park. They did a overhaul of their old children boat attraction, the new one have loads of scaled down landmarks that are typical of Gothenburg, but on a negative side then the ride isn't free roam as it used to be but all boats follow a certain route through the area. I guess that it have to do something with the throughput of the ride...
  16. The ride have progressed nicely since my last image, just footers to go before the supports are done!!
  17. Restarted work on some old projects a few weeks ago, and I'm really happy what have happened with them... Here is my first attempt on custom 3Ds supports: Flanges will be added once the whole structure is complete.
  18. I was trying to post a trip report form our trip last year, and wondered why I hadn't done it already here on TPR, but the issue is that I can't get the images to work at all, and while sitting here pulling my hair, I remembered why it never happened before... There is a little mod/code here on the board which causes the letters p t and r (if written together as an abbreviation) to transform into "Photo TR" as you post it, it's a nice touch but it screw's up all my images since they are located on photobucket in a folder called "p t r" (without spaces), and since the board transforms that into "Photo TR" then they won't work here. And it makes me sad since it's a pretty epic trip which I'm dying to share with you all it also causes all my other trip reports not to work either !! In essence when you write "p t r" (without spaces) in a post it will show as "Photo TR" in the forum, this also happened as you did your major upgrade to the forum some time ago, sine this wasn't an issue before... I guess that the reason why you have this mod is to having it written Photo TR in the topic titles, but the mod itself works a bit too well, is there a way to force it so that it only work on the subject instead of everywhere? Any help would be appreciated!! And no I'm not interested to upload it all again, especially not with the crappy connection I have at the moment, if that's the case then I wont post it here...
  19. I guess so...thats a hell of a lot of gravity on one body, but from the tales of nemesis, i think its safe to say it pulls a helluva lot more than 3... I guess the 6g bit would be so quick that it'd be unnoticeable judging by the chart, unlike I305 which sustains 5-6g in its first turn if I'm correct. The spikes comes from vibration and noise in the measurement, it's definitely not a part of the ride itself, on nemesis for instance it differs between 3.5-6 g's which would make it about 4.5 g's at that point not 6... Also I305 do not pull 5-6 g's anywhere on the ride, it's not allowed to by law. I do not have a measurement of it unfortunately but based on what I have and know then it would be something like (the original version this is): Bottom of first drop 4-4.5 g's Turn: around 3 g's Pull-up into first hill around 4 g's These numbers are taken from a Mega-Lite which is a 3 times smaller ride but still manages to get me to grey out at the pull-up... It's usually not the amount of force, but the duration which you experience it on a ride which is the thing that makes you black out. Same thing goes with Titan and Goliath...
  20. Didn't you post this on the ECC list, at least someone did, and I will give the same answer here. Most of the facts on RCDB are true and valid, numbers on maximum g-forces on the other hand are really dodgy... My rule of thumb for B&M's are that all of them (more or less) produce a maximum vertical g-force of about 4.5 g's. And speaking about Nemesis and Nemesis Inferno, then here are some accelerometer graphs of both rides for everyone's enjoyment: Nemesis: Nemesis Inferno:
  21. Not sure if this have been posted on here, but the current CEO of Liseberg, Andreas Andersen have started a blog on where he write some really interesting things that is not only valid for Liseberg but also a lot of other parks in the world. It's really worth a read. Mind though that it's in Swedish... Link to the blog: http://www.lisebergblogg.se/andreas/ And with some hideous translation with Google Translate to English: CLICK
  22. ^^^ Since Liseberg is owned by the city, then they would likely have the first pick of the area since most of the board of directors are politicians that have lot of weight in the ruling in/around Gothenburg. The locations is really ideal for the park, the south side is towards an industrial area as well so it's no problem either. And the absolute best thing is that this land is located as far as it is possible from any residents in the area that can complain about noise. But then again, if there is space they need, then an Aerial tramway to some completely different area is an option that Liseberg have used in the past ^^ Yeah, it's really bad that they don't have Max in the park, especially since the Burger King joints are more expensive in the park compared to the other ones in the city... I haven't really seen the wheel in person from that angle but when coming into Gothenburg from where I live then it looks epic. ^ This is some much needed space for the park, and now we might finally get some large thrilling coasters!!
  23. Updates!! The wheel is done, and it looks awesome at it's new location!! Source - goteborgsbloggarna.se Liseberg made time-lapse of the erection The new entrances are taking shape SOURCE - Liseberg Facebook Liseberg is reintroducing "Liseberg Häftet" (ticket book) after loads of critical voices against the removal last season. But since I never really uses single tickets then I really don't care about this since I always go for the day-pass, but many family's use them so that the parents can ride with their children. SOURCE - GP.se But the most interesting news is an article that I found in today's Metro paper. The board of directors of Liseberg have gone out and said that they would be highly interested to buy the now empty SAAB gearbox factory close to Liseberg, for future expansion of the park. This is really great news since it will allow the park to secure space to expand the park with over 50% compared to what it is today. And best of all is that this area is located in such a location that it's as far away from any residents compared to Liseberg today so there is a good chance of seeing something massive in that area, like Mega-coaster/multi inversion coaster etc... SOURCE - Metro.se Here is a map I did over the area a few years ago to illustrate the space available: Red = Liseberg today Yellow = area owned by Liseberg, but is a parking lot today, but is planned to be transformed into a Multistorey parking lot on the southern tip, Shops and Hotels along the road to the left and the rest to be an indoor themepark to be opened year-round. Blue = SAAB gearbox factory, and hopefully soon expansion space for Liseberg
  24. ^ Based on the sign in the background then they are somewhere in Japan...
  25. Based on some of the pictures in the thread then JoyLand in China would be a good bet...
