Photo TR: Düsseldorf Fair Photos

It absolutely amazes me that all this stuff is temporary. These fairs look like an awesome version of our state fairs where all of the buildings are usually permanent and only really the rides travel around. Though the ride selection here pales in comparison. Thankyou for posting these. -

I think I ate at Mcdonalds once, in the CDG airport when I was freaking out about my lack of working ATM card. My chicken sandwhich was, well, interesting. So interesting I never ate at another EuroMickeyD's. I am much more of a Try the local stuff kind of guy anyway. Mmmmm... Bratwurst. -
The Walygator monorail scared the bejebus out of me. I had visions of it listing to one side and us plunging to our deaths, never to be seen because of the parks lack of visitors. It also had a speed bump at one point that may have been a bird or other living creature at some point.

So that is the other duck I gave you. I was looking at my box of extras this morning trying to figre out what other duck I gave you besides the scuba duck. Now I know. I need the mailing address of Big Mike Productions Headquarters so I can get you more of these little quackers. That pic of the bucket-o-ducks did excite me, but it was more over the fact that swim goggles was floating along with his bigger brethren and looking so much better while doing it.

I hope it is a little more forceful than Mammut, and I expect it to be. Based off of the renderings, it looks like there is some pretty steep banking in the first helix/turnaround. I highly doubt you would need banking that steep on a family coaster like Mammut. -

Wouldn't that be better as a dark ride? -

Who is this Ellen Hof and why is she getting her own coaster? Looks like it could be a load of fun with all of those airtime hills. -

FYI, though not really applicable here, If the wood stayed entirely submerged the entire time it would be fine for the wood. It is the combination of the air and the water that causes bad things to happen. The same is actually true for steel as well. -
This will be unlike an emoboy report because Dave and Icebat actually interact with others and enjoy their time in the parks. Unfortunately we did not get to molest IceBat like we did Hippo on the El-BulletTrain-o.

From what I remember the reason they don't run them all the time is that they are trying to prevent excess deterioration of the fountain itself. Something along the lines that the plumbing etc is all original and quite fragile and running it every day would cause a lot of damage. From this standpoint, I can understand why they wouldn't run it all the time, but I agree, it does make them a lot less impressive. -

Thats true, it was much fun..........where on earth did you (we) go? Also, SM was horrid, I hated it but loved the very dark que tunnel! I think we got separated during the extra special bonus we go on the second day. -
Look at all of you objectifying men. They are just playthings to you, not deserving of being referred to as "who" but instead as "what," not even a person. For shame.

Bill's TPR Europe'08 TR.... on Six Rolls of Film!

As much as you are made fun of for using film, not that I made fun of you, (Not that I knew you were using film, otherwise I probably would have) these pictures are coming out looking really good. I am not sure what it is exactly (or what is causing it) but the lighting looks much warmer than all of the digital pics the rest of us took. -

Mmm randomn people buffet. Space Mountain wasn't too bad if you rode in the back and rode in the Vekoma Turtle Position. Rides number two and three were actually quite pleasant. Ride #1 on the other hand... not so nice. My morning spent with Chris and Piers was extra magic, too bad it was only a morning. -
Should I take pictures of your duckies' other siblings (i believe each of them are triplets) to confuse people? I could also provide you with other ducks to make the pictures more varied. But then you would be carrying around pockets full of ducks rather than just one or two. That would be even odder than having a bathroom full of ducks.

I am shocked that there is not a bigger factor of safety on the weight limit. IE the ride's weight limit is really 1000lbs, but the posted sign says 700 so that even if people overload it per the sign, it is less likely that they will go over what the ride can handle. Jon *I was over the weight limit at just about everything at Sclossbeck* Az

The haunted walk through was amazing considering the rest of the park. I screamed so loudly at one point that the actor asked if I was ok. Shane then proceeded to hold onto my shirt so I would protect him. -

Was that any worse than in Belgium or any other country? From my own personal experience France was the country that had the least line cutting of all the countries we visited. I still think the "rude french" is just a stereotype. When walking along the Seine, people said hello (well, Bonjour) Someone offered me directions when I got lost and asked (I walked the wrong way from Notre Dame). Shop keepers were helpful. When walking around the little town by the first (and my last) hotel, the villagers were all pleasent. -

Hmm. I found people in France to be perfectly polite. I have always been told that if you try and speak their language they will be polite in return and have found that to be the truth. -

I loved Europa. Poseidon was a suprise hit for me. I absolutely loved that ride. The level of theming in the queue and the first part was completely unexpected. While the park does not have anything completely stellar in the coaster department (except for Euromir which is so unique nothing can come close to it). They are all good. Combine with the level of detail they theme each and every ride. This park is a winner in my book. Where were they clearing land? -
One thing to consider is getting to the parks. Warner seemed to be out in the middle of nowhere. It might not be that easy to get to with public transit (I have no idea if this is actually the case.) Parque Attraciones is VERY easy to get to via subway. I loved both parks I don't think you could go wrong with either one. Warner has Superman, Batman, El Deja Vu-o, Awesome Flume and Rapids, but really no shade. Parque Attraciones has both ABISMO!!!! TARANTULA!!! which are both really really good coasters, at least in my book.
