PTR - 36 hours of Colossus-NOW WITH PHOTOS!!!

I enjoyed reading that. I do not think I could ride for that long. It's funny that Apocalypse threatened to de-rail the marathon. Congratulations on making it, must have been a cool experience. -

^Their ride package is much better than what we get in Raleigh, NC. -

I am surprised to see Skyhawk testing on the live cams. -

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

The park always seems to handle the crowds well. I only ever wade through other patrons in line for Volcano and right in the midway near the ferris wheel and Drop Tower. -
I wouldn't be surprised if the park and the State come to an agreement over the offseason. I can't blame them for wanting the ride open at this point. I would think some netting would do the trick, perhaps just over the top hat? I'm thinking it could be wired like the lift hill net on the left side of Carowinds' Intimidator, that way it would't look too terrible. With a net like that, the object either gets caught or is tossed far away from the riders on Zumanjaro. But hell, you can't pump your own gas in Jersey so this might be permanent.

In casually speaking with some of the roaming managers at KD I get the sense that despite the few hiccups with i305 they're extremely pleased with the ride overall and that the maintenance isn't terrible. Now, would a manager tell a member of the public that the higher-ups hate Intamin? Probably not, but I suspect Cedar Fair and Intamin will be working together in the future. And you've got to remember that Maverick had a barrel roll, and Cedar Fair didn't cut off Intamin after that little remodel. Perhaps a Mega-Lite here could use the restraints on Altair in Rome? That would alleviate the bitching about the Skyrush lap bars but still allow more guests to ride an Intamin. Of all the Cedar Fair parks, this seems like the ideal place for a Mega-Lite.

Maybe a booster of some kind? Didn't the Human side crawl around the track? -

Oh my God the Fly Away at Six Flags New England was simultaneously terrifying, painful, nauseating and scary. I am glad I rode it once but I'm not surprised it's gone. -

^ I don't think so. I once saw a $2-million figure for relocation. An $11-million sale price isn't out of the question. -
I was kind of thinking the video just replayed the same drop with different levels of zoom. But if they really dropped 3x+ like that then you guys are probably right about testing a safety feature. I'd expect a few hipccups with a prototype like this. That seat maneuvering feature has got to be complex from an engineering standpoint. And the level of tilt far exceeded my expectations. It looks s**t-your-pants awesome!

That actually looked kind of a fun. I wonder if they ever turn the stand-up train backward? I always wondered how it was that they could use both sit down and stand-up trains on one circuit? Wouldn't it change the center of gravity? TOGO DGAF. -

This is shaping up to be one of those projects I dreamed about making on RCT and No Limits. All the terrain hopping, tunnels, etc. That top hat has some crazy supports. This ride is going to be spectacular and looks to be a real people eater, too. Will it be running four trains? -
Hypersonic XLC used to scare me. It always seemed slightly dangerous (it obviously wasn't), particularly as it aged poorly. The Hurricane at the Pavilion the year before it closed. That year they did zero maintenance and I was just waiting for a derailment or a cracked board. Fortunately, the final season saw the ride running much better.

How do you watch your movies?
willh51 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am a huge movie fan and avid collector. I've been completely Blu-ray since 2008. I do rent digital films (in HD) for my computer, tablet and HDTV but I never purchase films this way. I purchase about 50 Blu-rays per year. If I'm going to rent a digital download I use Amazon or iTunes. I do redeem the digital copies included with Blu-rays on iTunes and through UltraViolet services Flixster and Vudu. I download to my computer and then transfer to my device unless I'm traveling. A 2GB file is perfect. I can't stand watching low-res films. And coaster videos are way too pretty to watch in SD! -
Was that a completely filled Drop Tower?!! They never do that.
