The "Say Something Random" Thread
no_brain_er replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
Going to Atlanta with my sister this afternoon, after she gets off of work! I've never been to Atlanta with her, but as long as she's cool with using MARTA and going into the record stores I like for a while, it should be fun. -
Neopets was the biggest one for me. I've had an active account for about ten years now. Not even gonna lie, I still play sometimes; I played almost every day during my freshman year of college. It's strangely addicting.

What Was the Last Beer You Drank?
no_brain_er replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
I haven't had a beer in a while, but I think the last one I had was a Terrapin Golden Ale. Plain and simple, and not too hoppy, like the majority of Terrapin's other brews. Currently sipping on a Stella Artois Cidre, wishing I had gotten something else instead. -

Merry Christmas, TPR! Hope your day is filled with holiday cheer! Or, at the very least, expensive presents from distant relatives. -
Entertaining, funny ride ops.
no_brain_er replied to GivenOneChance's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^That reminds me of something funny, actually. I went on Maliboomer when it was still at California Adventure, and one of the ride ops started on the usual "Launching in 10...9..." spiel that you always hear on launch/drop towers. The thing that made this different is that he would send them up after 8 and would "finish" the countdown as they came back down to unload. To an 11-year-old me, it was absolutely hysterical. -
Honestly, the only soda I really enjoy drinking is Diet Dr Pepper, but if I had to pick between Coke and Pepsi, Pepsi will always win. Which is actually kind of funny, because I live an hour away from Atlanta, the birthplace of Coke. I get so much crap from so many people down here for not liking it.

Currently sipping on (yet another) Diet Dr Pepper.

Entertaining, funny ride ops.

100% truth. I love most of the songs and rhymes the Acrophobia operators sang. The most memorable one I remember hearing was to the tune of the Gilligan's Island theme song. The last line the ride op would sing was something along the lines of "If you have Acrophobia then hold on tiiiight. Hooooold ooooon tiiiiiight" and the riders would drop as soon as the ride op was done singing, sometimes after the word "Hold." Acrophobia is just as fun to watch as it is to ride, and a lot of the reason why is the ride ops. -
Metal is all well and good, but what about djent?

It's 5am, and I'm still awake. It's the weirdest thing - if I were studying for a final, I'd be complaining so hard right now. But since I'm just staying up late for no particular reason, I'm totally okay with it. I really need to fix my sleep schedule. -
Glasser - Landscape. This song has been stuck in my head for two days. It's so catchy.

Hey, I was there for that. My last final of the semester starts in about two and a half hours. My plan is to study diligently for the next hour and a half, shower and get dressed, then make it just in time to bomb the hell out of it. I shouldn't say this, but I pretty much don't care what grade I get on it, since it's my last one. -
Poll: Favorite Inversion?

I'm gonna go with the zero-G roll. I love the feeling of weightlessness, and if I can get that while I'm flipped upside-down, it's a win-win! The best one that I've personally been on might have actually been Led Zeppelin at HRP. It felt so drawn-out, like it was never going to end. For some reason, it felt different from the zero-G rolls on most other B&M's that I've been on. -
What's the worst station you've been in
no_brain_er replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm kind of surprised nobody mentioned SFOG's Scream Machine. It's another one where the line empties into the front of the station. After all of those switchbacks, the tiny ramp onto the station platform dumps everyone right into the "line" for the front row, so almost nobody moves except when the trains get loaded. The one good thing is that, if you can force your way through the front-of-the-train nonsense, you get a great seat almost anywhere in the back of the train, and the most you usually have to wait is a train or two. -
So, what's everyone's Top 10 lists looking like this year? I've yet to put mine together, but I will go ahead and say that Autre Ne Veut - Anxiety is my #1 album, and either "Play By Play" or "Ego Free Sex Free" is my #1 song. If you haven't heard it yet, Anxiety is absolutely phenomenal. One of the most unique, fun-to-listen-to albums I've heard in a long, long time. Others that are going into my Top 10 include, but aren't limited to, Disclosure - Settle, Toro Y Moi - Anything In Return, and Anamanaguchi - Endless Fantasy. 2013 was a fantastic year for electronic music.

Anyone on here like anime or manga?
no_brain_er replied to iluvalbinos's topic in Random, Random, Random
This might not be nearly as important to anyone else on the forum as it is to me, but Keroro Gunso (Sgt. Frog) is getting revitalized as a new anime next year! It looks like it's going to be animated much closer in style to the manga, rather than the newer designs used in later episodes of the original anime. Also, all of the original voice actors are returning as the main cast as well, which is an added bonus! The only thing I'm kind of nervous about is that it's going to be animated using Flash rather than traditional animation, but I think it'll be fine. Besides, that means reduced paper waste AND a great show! Here's a link to the official (Japanese) announcement: http://www.sunrise-inc.co.jp/krr/ -
The Dahlonega Mine Train kind of has one. It does a 180 to the left and goes through that little warehouse building before the lift. Nothing too exciting, but a lot more than what the rest of them have. The only coaster I've really been on that had any kind of real pre-lift is Magic Kingdom's Big Thunder, so I guess that one wins by default. I think the one that looks the coolest to go on would either be Thunderation at SDC, since that's basically all of the ride, or Jupiter at Kijima Amusement Park in Japan, just because it seems to go on forever and looks like it picks up some serious speed.

Your First Schwarzkopf Coaster?
no_brain_er replied to SingleRiderCam's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Mine was Mindbender at SFOG. Coincidentally, it was also my first looping roller coaster as well. As a kid, I was obsessed with roller coasters but was always afraid to ride the bigger ones. Once I was comfortable with the big ones, I was still afraid of the ones that go upside-down (so much so that I skipped Rock 'n Roller Coaster on my first trip to WDW in 2001; I was 9 at the time, I think). Eventually, I conquered my fear of going upside-down by riding the Enterprise at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion that summer, then the following summer I finally rode Mindbender. Now I'll pretty much ride anything. Ahh, the growth of a coaster geek. -
Tallest coaster you've been on.

Steel: Titan at SFOT (245 feet) Wood: (Old) Texas Giant at SFOT (143 feet) Man, I need to catch up with you guys. -
I had a sprite a few hours ago. (There may have been some vodka in it too, but since this is a soda-only thread, we'll leave it at may have been. )

Next semester's concert schedule is looking pretty good so far. RiFF RAFF and Disclosure in January, Between the Buried and Me and Deafheaven (on the same night!) in March, and tons of other shows to be announced between now and then. I'm gonna have to start saving up now if I want to see them all.
-
Agreed completely. After this year, I can safely say that going to Atlanta Pride is essential for anyone living in Georgia and the surrounding states.

Diet Dr Pepper, about an hour ago. I usually drink 2-3 cans a day, but if I'm really bored or stressed, I'm known to drink up to 6. I really need to stop...but it's so tasty...

Russia to build Vekoma GIB in Sochi
no_brain_er replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Whoa, that looks fantastic! I'm way late to the party on this one, but having been on a GIB myself (I was able to ride SFOG's Deja Vu the season before they removed it), I think they're actually a lot of fun. I'm glad to see a new one pop up. Not to mention it's purple, which happens to be the best color on the color wheel, so maybe I'm a bit biased... -

A few nights ago, I watched Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai, a.k.a. Anohana, in its entirety. A mouthful of a title, I know, but you know what they say: don't judge a series by its title! Without a doubt, one of the most emotional shows I've ever watched. The last episode literally had me bawling my eyes out at five in the morning. It was the best "tears of happiness" moment I've had since I saw Toy Story 3 with my parents the year I left for college. I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes sentimental, emotional dramas with a happy ending.
