Front Seat Vs. Back Seat Coasters.
chickenbowl replied to Physical's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There are front seat coasters and back seat coasters, I do not stick to only one option! There's different elements that you wouldn't fully experience if you only rode a coaster in one seat (ex. the double up's on NTG and IRat, most first drops), so I always try to ride all around the train. Here are some preferences I have found in my coaster riding experiences lately (Or at least how I remember them!). There's some coasters where I couldn't quite decide where i liked it more (Intimidator 305, Bizarro, Boulder Dash) Front Seat Coasters: -All B&M Inverts (Especially Alpengesit, Chinese Fireball, Montu) -Phoenix (Specifically, row 3) -Magnum XL-200, Desperado (Row 3 as well) -Goliath (SFOG) -Iron Rattler -Outlaw Run -Goliath (SFGAm) -A lot of launch coasters (Xcelerator, TTD, KK, Storm Runner) -Maverick -Thunderhead -Most B&M Floorless/Sitdown -Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit Back Seat Coasters: -Skyrush (Although great anywhere) -Most B&M Hypers except Goliath (Raging Bull, Nitro in particular) -El Toro -B&M Dive Coasters -Twisted Colossus -Coaster (Playland) -Gold Striker -New Texas Giant -Tremors -

Most Intense B&M!
chickenbowl replied to Beate's Freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Personally, I didn't find Kumba to be particularly intense. It was a decent coaster, but I didn't really find much about it to be better than a lot of other looping B&M's. I found both Kumba and Montu to be a bit overrated. Maybe the days I visited the park were off days?? Side note - I found Fire Dragon to outrank Montu as well. I found these elements to be more intense than Kumba: - Nitro's upward helix - Tatsu's pretzel loop - Fire Dragon's immelman/helix - Incredible Hulk's first half - Montu's batwing - Flight Deck - Kraken's turn after the cobra roll - Any Batman The Ride -
Walibi Holland Discussion Thread
chickenbowl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Very interested in this coaster, I wonder if it will indeed be a Mega (Alpina Blitz, Storm)? I sure looks that way, and I hope so! It would surely make Walibi Holland a must-visit when I travel to Europe if they have both an Intamin mega and a Mack mega coaster! -

Best and Worst Arrow Mine Trains
chickenbowl replied to bgwfreak777's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thunderation at SDC was my favorite, it combines the smoothness of RRE at SFFT intensity and speed! One of the only mine trains that compares to BTMR. Worst may be Carolina Goldrusher, Trailblazer, or Cedar Creek Mine Ride. Dahlonega Mine Ride and Runaway Mine train are also both weak, but they're some of the original steel coasters so I give them some credit. -
Best Themed Queue Line
chickenbowl replied to eskater132's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dragon Challenge, Forbidden Journey, and Escape from Gingotts are all extremely well done! I typically love a lot of Disney queues as well. Both US Tower of Terrors are amazing. Radiator Springs Racers is fantastic, and so is Seven Dwarfs Mine Train! Outside of Disney and Universal... I would choose Manta at SWO, I love the interaction between the queue and the aquarium! -
What is your favorite Roller Coaster?
chickenbowl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After the 2015 season I have a new favorite wood coaster, so I'll update my favorites here! I finally found a wood coaster even better than El Toro! After riding Outlaw Run, I'm almost positive I'll find a new favorite next year, Lightning Rod! -

IAAPA 2015 Live Coverage!
chickenbowl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah that's what it looks like to me, a smaller version of TRex track maybe. Raptor, anyone?? Also, I can't tell if I'm seeing it wrong but it looks tiny for coaster track, I wonder what the uses are (They also had TRex model track that was actual size, so I assume this is too?) -
There's too many wooden coasters to count that I think should get retracked by RMC. So maybe I will try to be more predictive/hopeful with my picks! Le Monstre, La Ronde - 2017 - This is a coaster that I find to have a severely under-utilized layout. The first drops on each side only go down about half of the total height. That height is 130', which would be moderately tall for a steel RMC (The only taller ones would be Iron Rattler [179'] and New Texas Giant [153']). Each side is currently around 4000' long so there's potential for a full layout, even if they wanted to keep it as two sides. This coaster just looks like it has a ton of potential. Boss, Six Flags St. Louis - 2018 - This coaster also has an insane amount of potential, a 150' drop? 5000' long? I can only dream! The layout is similar to the old Medusa at SFM, so if it was like Steel Medusa, but larger? Count me in. I think this would be the perfect coaster for SFStl. Mean Streak, Cedar Point - 2018 - Simply, I am picturing New Texas Giant but better with this one!

Underrated Coasters?
chickenbowl replied to Yero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have some more: -I love both Coaster at Playland and Tremors/Timber Terror at Silverwood. They are amazing wood coasters (Especially Coaster which I rank #6), and I think most who have ridden would agree, so perhaps they're just under-ridden. Either way PUT THESE PARKS ON YOUR LIST! -The Red side of American Eagle is very very good! (I rank it at #12) This is a coaster I've seen bashed on here so many times, but it very much exceeded my expectations last month. A few surprising moments of airtime across the layout. -Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit! Although it was a temperamental coaster in terms of smoothness, I found the front row to be amazing! The front had the most airtime going up into the brake runs and non-inverting loop. Overall, it was a very enjoyable coaster (My #20 steel) with a good amount of airtime (If you rode in the front row...). I rank it among Xcelerator and Apollo's Chariot for a comparison. -Honorable mention for Wildfire at SDC! I loved the pacing on this coaster, great airtime on the first drop and going up into the brakes! (I liked it more than Kumba, Kraken, Incredible Hulk, and Medusa. The only standard looping B&M I like more is Superman Krypton... and not by much! -
Well it shouldn't! I wouldn't go so far as to say it was as bad as GL, but it was not a very comfortable ride. My collar bones felt it after that ride, the vests do the same thing that some of the B&M Wing Coasters do (Or at least X-Flight and Wild Eagle), where they tighten throughout the whole ride.

Manta at SWSD has thick spine for a section of it like this. It's not so uncommon! -
Ride Bucket List
chickenbowl replied to Evanaj15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I realize I made this post just two months ago, but in an attempt to organize the "most important" roller coasters for me to ride, I compiled an official bucket list for myself. This list basically shows me that after I complete the remaining few coasters in the US, my next focus should be travelling to Northern Euro/Scandinavia (Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden). I think I may be able to check off 3 wood and 3 steel in 2016 if I'm lucky! Steel: 1. Fury 325 2. Expedition GeForce 3. Medusa Steel 4. Flying Aces 5. iSpeed 6. Joker 7. Any Mega Lite 8. Wicked Cyclone 9. Goliath (Walibi) 10. Leviathan (H.M. Helix) Wood: 1. Lightning Rod 2. Wildfire 3. T Express 4. Balder 5. Voyage 6. Mountain Flyer (Knight Valley) 7. Colossos 8. Ravine Flyer II 9-10. (Some of those crazy Chinese GG coasters I can't keep straight...) This list isn't exactly in an order... Just a basic estimate of what I want to ride more. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Very funny guys!! But seriously, I'm concerned that the track is too low to the ground and the far left wing of the train will hit the ground! -
That One Ride You Just Can't Enjoy...
chickenbowl replied to HAZE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree with you. The Vekoma Flyers really stink, definitely one and done. I also think BGWs line up is very very solid. Consistently enjoyable coasters. The same can be said for BGT too! -

Wow... Sounds like you're having a terribly sad time enjoying amazing coasters. Sucks for you, dude When you've ridden as many as I have, you don't have to "like" a coaster just because everyone else does. There are much more satisfying coasters out there for me. I understand that, and I know coasters can be overrated. But saying you can't enjoy Maverick or I305 is insane to me, and that's coming from someone who's ridden a lot of coasters as well. How many have you ridden? EDIT: Also, needing to go completely against the grain on popular opinions doesn't make you cool, it just invalidates your opinion. Never trust anyone who "hates" the Beatles! You may not think I305 or Maverick are the best coasters out there, but there's no way you just can't enjoy them. I think it's so dumb when people are anti-Skyrush or anti-Maverick or whatever... Like those are the worst coasters on Earth or something... -

Underrated Coasters?
chickenbowl replied to Yero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dragon Challenge (Chinese Fireball). I went to Florida expecting this coaster to be pretty average compared to the other B&M Inverts I rode, and I didn't expect a huge difference between the two sides of the coaster. I actually found Chinese Fireball to have insane pacing (the coaster never let's up!), and to have a great flow of elements! The immelman/helix thingy before the "dueling" loops was insane (my favorite inversion on any B&M). Here's how my B&M Inverts rank for me now! 1. Dragon Challenge (Red) 2. Montu 3. Alpengeist 4. Raptor 5. Afterburn 6. Dragon Challenge (Blue) 7. Flight Deck 8. Batman The Ride 9. Silver Bullet 10. Great Bear
