  1. Bring back Trail of Terror! I believe the same path was used for Dino's Alive? Or maybe part of it? I'm struggling to find an old Fear Fest map, but you're a local-ish guy so I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about it. It was the only theme park-haunt that actually used a real chunk of woods as far as I know. There was even an optional part where you could crawl through this tunnel. It was really creepy and they did a great job of using the hilly woodsy terrain. You've got Lebanon and Morrow not too far from Kings Island so that was an added fear factor as well! Trail of Terror went something like this.
  2. From Tony's twitter the more important sign - enter here for Steel Vengeance catch me in the left lane Bonus sign - CP Shores and new hotness water slides!
  3. What loop are they going to remove?? That is sarcasm for those of you who don't know. Tear the whole thing down after it stood around for 3 years
  4. I'm going to put my money on Gwazi getting the SoB treatment.
  5. To me, new attractions at Kennywood are just like new attractions at SDC - they're an added bonus. The park is already so unique and so great with what's currently being offered I'd be happy with just about any new 'big' coaster.
  6. Oh. My. Goodness. It's such a long ride and it carries the speed so well...wow.
  7. Sorry to disappoint all of the "must be first" riders, but it's now been ridden Wow. Sounds epic! https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog/the-first-steel-vengeance-ride
  8. Great report 805Andrew! I definitely won't be able to visit during the festival, so the pictures are helping me live vicariously. I'm thankful some of the items like beer and bbq are offered year round so I can get my fix. In my mind, when it comes to signature food items at parks like cinnamon bread, blue/Banshee ice cream, skillets, etc the Boysenberry beer and BBQ is right up there in the mix.
  9. Those were actually cocoons that were being watched by Kraken. See, Godzilla is going to attack the Willis tower here in Chicago any minute now and Rahm paid SeaWorld to come up with a defense solution. Hopefully, we'll have at least 8 Mothras to keep us safe here from the impending doom of Godzilla.
  10. It's that time of year again, and it looks like I'll be visiting on the same weekend I did last year. This time I'll have more than 2 hours in the park, but I have a feeling I'll be sticking with Fury and Afterburn re-rides all day. Naw, I think I'm going to try and check out the waterpark. I haven't had the opportunity to ride one of the 'wall' slides nor have I been on the rapids ride. I know I'll be back at Carowinds later this year, so I think this visit I'll check out some of the rides I haven't been on in years. Oh and I guess I need that boomerang credit still..
  11. Let the glorious mist of the Log Chute wash away your thoughts of missing that ride. I really can't wait to see how much you like MOA's flume, it's such a treat.
  12. So I saw their website has been updated bigriverswaterpark.com and it has no mention of slides. Unless I missed it. Maybe they will just try to get what they can open. I know they announced several slides. I’m more interested in checking out the zip line attractions at Gator Bayou that will open with the waterpark. Ahh, the slides are being installed in the fall and will open in 2019. I saw them mention WWW and immediately thought slides. "ARRIVING FALL 2018 - Unlike anything in Texas, these exciting rides are scheduled to be installed this Fall, and will be available for the full 2019 waterpark season. Storm Surge - Prepare to “Brave the Wave” as you and up to 3 other riders are engulfed by a massive current. Comal Crush - “Feel the Force” on a speedy raft with surprise drops and twisting turns. This is a great kid-friendly ride. Frio Falls - Spiral down a towering, coiling slide and plummet off a tower over six stores tall. Pecos Plunge - Gain momentum before plunging a gut-wrenching seven stories high from a half-enclosed slide. Sabine Scream - Hurtle down an enclosed slide with a swift drop that will leave you breathless! COLORado River Racer - Race against up to five friends, with each lane a different experience! These multi-lane aqua tubes spiral and twist alongside each other before making a swift 360-degree loop and diving to the finish line." http://bigriverswaterpark.com/bigrivers/
  13. Great report. I'm glad I was able to see what I missed since I was considering going on that day. I'll happily make another trip to NYC and include Luna Park when the weather is nicer.
  14. I'm wondering what will be open, though. They just got their shipment of slide parts from White Water the other day. The video was posted on the April 9th so we're going to see a lot happen in 2 months!
  15. I need to get back to Great America for Hurricane Harbor. It's like a Pro-Slide catalog. The only thing missing is a water coaster, to be honest. They haven't added anything since 2011 which is shocking, but understandable since you could spend a whole day at HH as is.
  16. I love the interaction with the path below and how twisty it is. Looks like a really fun ride with some near misses!
  17. They look so big and bulky like a mine train. Can't wait to see them in person!
  18. I'm going to be in San Fran the first weekend of May so that should put me riiiight on track to continue my 2018 trend of visiting a park a month too early. I'm excited to check out the B&M's and Goldstriker!
  19. This might be my favorite annual thread! Love reading each chapter as you paint a great picture in between the photos. Go karts are a very underrated attraction. It took a visit to Mt Olympus to open my eyes to what hilarity, scariness, and fun can be had on custom kart tracks.
  20. Oh god I didn't realize it had a following. I wonder how much I could bribe 'em to put up "Giga coaster" under an "untitled Kings Island project".
  21. Lol. People put rcdb on a god-like pedestal, Really? I have never associated RCDB with anything other than a good source for stats like record holders, mph, height, drop, inversions.
  22. My hype for KD is now through the roof but my visit is months out. Can't wait to re-read in the summer as this was the perfect way to get familiar with the park's rides, food/beer offerings, and where to sit. Another great trip report! Thanks!
  23. One-way rentals are risky business. Cars from far out of state (or even cars from Canada!) will often sit in rental fleets, especially at airport locations, for a very long time until some sucker ends up one-way-ing them in the general direction of the state they're registered in. A car that's over 2 years old with 30,XXX miles, which may be leaving the fleet soon, might suddenly get one-wayed to a completely different part of the country and rack up miles as if it were new. It's not really "shady" because it's cost-prohibitive for a rental company to re-register / re-title the car in a different state. Example, at the fleet I worked in part-time during college, we would occasionally get cars from Ontario. Due to random circumstances, the stars often wouldn't align to send them back north until they were 3 years old or more, with over 45,000 miles. Sometimes they were the only cars we had left at the end of the night, sometimes they were the only car that we had available in a certain class... Lots of reasons why they get stuck. Interesting read; I don't know crap about cars but you are suggesting that you're more likely to get a car that will break down? I'm likely going to be getting a one way rental (although it'll just be from Charlotte/NC to Hilton Head/SC and I bet there are plenty of NC ->SC and SC -> NC rentals happening) and this seems like something more people should know about.
  24. There's one down by Beast/Diamondback splash and one in the Festhaus; not sure elsewhere. What was inedible about it? You probably got a stale slice? I rarely eat out at a LaRosas when in Cincy and prefer to get a slice at KI since they're usually so fresh. The pepperoni is consistently crispy on top of the cheese and goes well with the sweet pizza sauce. Honestly I don't really remember why it was so bad. I think it wasn't cooked all the way and the crust was stale, and I didn't really care for the sauce. I think it was on International Street but I could be remembering that wrong. I'll have to try one of the other locations this year, hopefully it was just a bad day because it seems that everyone likes it. I haven't been a local for 3 years now so my details about the park are starting to show, haha. If you don't care of the sauce then I'd skip it and go for a good that you really like. I'd say Cincinnatians are 50/50 on LaRosas (love/hate). But that seems to be the case with all of the Cincy based chains (people love/hate Montgomery Inn's sauce/rib style; people pick Skyline or Gold Star or Price Hill, PRC, etc) with the exception being Graeters. Everyone loves Graeters! On the contrary I don't like Graeters I find it over priced and over rated. UDF guy?
