  1. After an amazing week in the 80s and 90s last week, the weather decided to get cold and gloomy this week, dropping down to the 70s with clouds and even a bit of rain. Whoever's in charge of this should be fired. It's May, man.
  2. Nightwish - "Bye Bye Beautiful" Why have I never listened to this band before?! This powerful, epic orchestral metal is exactly the sort of thing I love.
  3. Boom. Your turn. Fantastic movie, if you ask me. Just a bit out there in some places.
  4. Nope, it's not a horror movie in the slightest.
  5. Hopefully this one's not TOO obscure... A fly, finding himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, dies. Cue the giant samurai fights and creepy baby masks!
  6. Flobots - "White Flag Warrior" Glad I gave their second album, Survival Story, a chance. I can't wait to see them in Orangevale next month!
  7. Gojira - "Oroborus" I can't stop listening to this band lately. I like heavy stuff, what can I say?
  8. At the moment, these are the albums I can't stop listening to, in no particular order: - The Devin Townsend Project - Epicloud - The xx - xx - nervous_testpilot - Frozen Synapse Original Soundtrack Yes, a soundtrack. It's that good.
  9. Daft Punk - "Disc Wars" (TRON: Legacy) I've been listening to the whole soundtrack tonight, I love it. It's great background music for calculus homework.
  10. Tomahawk - "South Paw" I'm exploring Mike Patton's discography right now, I'm really digging this particular band. Maybe because it's the most normal of his projects, especially considering this is the same guy as Mr. Bungle.
  11. The song "Happy Birthday" is a waltz. I've heard that song hundreds upon hundreds of times, but I've never even taken a second thought about it... Interesting.
  12. I had the very last can of Barg's root beer in my house a few hours ago... I'm gonna have to run down and pick up another case or two after school tomorrow. That's good stuff.
  13. As if my backlog wasn't already long enough to last me the rest of my gaming life, the list continues to grow. Today alone, I picked up Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 Complete, Icewind Dale 1 and 2 Complete, Planescape: Torment, Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 Complete, Temple of Elemental Evil, D&D: Dragonshard, and D&D: Demon Stone from Good Old Games, as well as Killing Floor and Red Orchestra 1 and 2 from the Humble Bundle sale. That's like 500 hours' worth of games for less than $25. Not bad at all.
  14. ^ Battlefront 3 was scrapped a long while back, unfortunately. It was reportedly 99% complete at the time, too, which boggles my mind. I'm indifferent toward the closing of the company, really. What was the last GOOD game they developed? Republic Commando, eight years ago? It's true that they put out the cream of the crop when it comes to adventure games back in the 90s, but let's be real here, LucasArts at the time it shut down was basically a completely different company. On the bright side, LucasArts veterans like Tim Schafer, Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman are still making the sorts of creative, unique games that their parent company was known for in its heyday. The legacy lives on through them.
  15. Flobots - "Mayday!!!" I understand that these guys reached their prime like five years ago with "Handlebars," but I'm just now discovering how much I like them. That combination of rap/hip-hop and rock is my thing right now, with these guys and Rage Against the Machine... anybody know who else I may like?
  16. Rage Against the Machine - "Killing in the Name" On my new pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50S headphones!
  17. My 18th birthday begins in an hour and a half. I still don't know how I'm celebrating it.
  18. Oh, how my musical taste has expanded in the two years since I last posted on this thread. Here's my current list of artists in my album rotation: Devin Townsend (Band, Project, solo work, everything) The xx Diablo Swing Orchestra Cobra Skulls (Only American Rubicon, though. Everything else has a different vibe that doesn't do it for me.) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis The Glitch Mob Gorillaz (particularly Demon Days, one of my favorite albums of all time)
  19. Last week while I was on a school trip to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland. When was the last time you finished a book?
  20. Diablo Swing Orchestra - "Lucy Fears the Morning Star" I want so badly to like this album. I LOVE The Butcher's Ballroom and Pandora's Pinata, but Sing-Along Songs for the Damned and Delirious just doesn't do it for me for some reason. It has moments of brilliance here and there, but the carnival-like theme to the album and the heavier focus on opera and the new singer just bring it so far down, in my opinion.
  21. The name's onewheeled, I think I'd be down for this.
  22. Is there any interest in Dota 2 here? I think it'd be kinda cool to have a TPR group that plays a few games now and again. I'm still in the process of trying out different heroes to find a playstyle I enjoy, but I especially have liked Weaver, Slark, Vengeful Spirit, and Jakiro. And with a little over 25 hours of games (both practice and ranked) aside some friends, I'm starting to feel pretty comfortable with the game. I like it a lot.
  23. With zero knowledge of the show beforehand, I caught My Fair Lady at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival with my school on Thursday. In terms of the performance, it was easily the most impressive musical theatre performance I've ever seen. Every single actor was at the top of his/her game with acting, singing, and dancing, and there were many times where the pure joy on their faces was just magical. This version of the musical had every actor onstage for most of the show in a set of bleachers, drinking water, changing costumes, reacting to the events in front of them, and generally acting like a Greek chorus, which in my opinion worked really well. And the song "Get Me to the Church On Time" was turned into an Irish stomp dance with the pianos cut out, and just the stomps and chants of the actors driving the song... it was perfect. My favorite onstage moment I've ever witnessed in the four years I've been into theatre. It's a shame I really didn't like the show itself. I dunno, I just couldn't get into the story. None of the characters seemed very relatable early on, and because of that, I just didn't really care about anybody. This is pretty much a personal issue, though, so if you already know and love My Fair Lady, you can completely ignore my complaints here. If there's any chance at all you could make it out to Ashland, Oregon before the season ends in October or November, and fancy My Fair Lady, by all means do it. And see King Lear while you're at it, it's PHENOMENAL!
  24. I chose to help Lily at that point. After the consequences of that, and seeing what happens when you help Kenny, I'm honestly not sure which is worse. One is more gut-wrenchingly shocking, the other is more morally horrible... Seriously, though, the emotions that game brings out. Incredible.
