Supergiant Games is awesome. First of all, they made my favorite game I've ever played, Bastion. Second, they put one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in that game, and made it readily available on their website, even incorporating it into a Humble Indie Bundle. And now I just learned that they have sheet music for the four most iconic, beautiful songs from the game (Zia's theme, Zulf's theme, end theme, "The Pantheon") on their website for free. I may have to tune my guitar to open C to play them, but man, it's worth it.

"All we had to do was follow the damn train, CJ!" If you've played Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, you feel my pain right now.
-
I know exactly what you mean.. I've gotten Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition, Mirror's Edge, Mount & Blade: Warband, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Hitman: Blood Money in this sale. I'm never, ever gonna have enough time to play these, along with the few dozen other games I have yet to play/finish.

I thought TDKR was good. The last 45 minutes were incredible, and what I expected of the whole movie after watching the first two in a marathon immediately before, but as a whole, I consider it the weakest of the three films. That said, I was pretty tired by the time the film started. I had a little trouble following The Dark Knight's plot for that reason, so that definitely played a part in my enjoyment of the film. I'll likely be seeing it again when I'm wide awake. I should probably explain myself a little bit.. Bane was good, but too hard to understand. Blake was well-acted, but too bland to carry the film. I had a lot of trouble staying interested in anything but Bruce's story for much of the film. The set piece at the end felt hokey. That actually goes for the whole film.. the first two had a sort of realistic (well, as realistic as a Batman movie can get), gritty feel to them, but something about this one felt wrong to me. I dunno how to explain it.

^ My local theater's doing a marathon of the first two of Nolan's Batman movies, followed by the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises.. I couldn't refuse. 8+ hours of Batman.. my body is ready.

I made my first purchase from the Steam Summer Sale 2012 today.. Frozen Synapse's DLC and soundtrack, just over $3 total. Something tells me that this is going to be the first of many... The only one I'm absolutely sure to make is the Walking Dead season pass, that'll surely go 50+ percent off on a daily deal.

Focus - nervous_testpilot (Frozen Synapse Original Soundtrack) Bought the game's incredible soundtrack today, since everything about the game is 80% off today and tomorrow.

Primer is easily the most confusingly intriguing film I've ever seen. I think I'm gonna have to watch it a few more times to even start to understand it..

I made the switch over to the dark side, and converted from Firefox to Chrome today. Never will I look back. Now, to just switch from Yahoo Mail to Gmail... -
Frgt/10 (feat. Chali 2na) - Linkin Park This is the first time I've ever listened to Reanimation. I've always brushed it off, since even though I'm a fan of Hybrid Theory, I have never had the slightest interest in straight hip-hop. But this is actually pretty dang interesting. Dunno if I like it or not yet, but it's certainly a fun listen.

Just watched Session 9 based on the recommendation of a Redditor when I said I wanted a good horror movie. Wow, that was just.. bad. Boring characters, slow plot (not in the good, tension-building way. I mean there's almost no plot progression for half the movie), bad sound design (particularly the mixing, and come on, they used cheesy stock screams during the tense parts), and the ending.. oh, the ending. *****SPOILERS***** A main character goes on a killing rampage for no reason, basically. His murders are supposed to mirror the session tapes of an asylum patient with dissociative identity disorder, hence the title of the film being the tape where the murders were discussed, but.. they didn't. They were incredibly vague, they could have fit any murderer's plot. The character showed no signs of D.I.D., instead just acting weird throughout the movie.. He didn't even have a motive to kill anyone! I guess he snapped, and that inspired him? I don't even know what to think. *****END SPOILERS***** I don't understand how this movie is getting 8-10/10's on IMDB. People call it a "smart, subtle" horror film. I guess just being set in an abandoned asylum is enough to make a movie tense these days? I'm not even gonna try to understand. I don't recommend this film, at all. Edit: Huh. Guess I'm in the minority for this one, as along with you guys, the majority of IMDB's user reviews are in favor of the movie. Ah well, to each his own, indeed.

I feel like I ramble on about movies I see too much, and never end up saying anything worthwhile, so I'll just keep my reviews brief this time. Let the Right One In: Liked it. Went in expecting a horror movie, got a gorgeous, intimate love story with a supernatural twist. Would watch again, with improved expectations. Reservoir Dogs: Adored it. It got slow at times, and remembering who is who as it jumps around on the timeline got tough, and the gore was surprisingly intense, but it's all worth it for Mr. Blonde's song and dance. Would definitely watch again. Being John Malkovich: .....what the %@#& did I just watch? I think I liked it. I dunno.

Check out the Cobra Skulls, especially their albums American Rubicon and Bringing the War Home. You won't be disappointed.

...yeah, I give up. I'm not a coffee drinker. I still enjoy a mocha every once in a while, but I'm gonna stick with tea. Now THAT can be tasty.

I am laughing at this so much harder than I ought to be. It's just the perfect fit. -
At the beginning of last week, a few of my friends and I were planning on setting up an Alien marathon, followed by seeing Prometheus once one of them returned home from college. Since we never pinned down a specific day for the event, I just commented on the Facebook post saying "So.. this week?" The person whom the idea originated from said "No." No explanation, no elaboration, just "No." Ugh. There go my big plans for the next week. Just a little bit more information as to how the plans fell through would make me feel better, right now it feels like he's giving me a "Screw you, it doesn't matter."

Something like three years after first trying it, Psychonauts is still the strangest, funniest game I've ever played. And it's a dang fine game, at that. A bit rough around the edges on PC, but still fun. Especially having taken a basic psychology class, I actually understand a lot of the jokes.

Finally got the latest Humble Indie Bundle, which included the soundtrack for this game. Well worth the $8.50 on its own.

Decided to dip my toe into Rainmeter for the first time tonight, and make a custom desktop. None of this is my original work, it's all a mishmash of elements from different skins (based heavily off a similar wallpaper I found on Reddit), but I'm still pretty dang proud of it. I went from knowing absolutely nothing about the program to being able to make this in one night.

^ It's all gonna be alright, Marion... I'm glad I'm not the only one to have, erm, experienced it recently. What's weird is that, a few days later, I have the urge to watch it again. I know it'll depress the heck out of me all over again, but it was just so darn well made, I want to give it another watch to fully appreciate that. Especially the scenes with Sara, her story is by far my favorite (if that's an appropriate word for this topic, haha) of the four. So in my quest to see as many "essential" movies as I can, I caught The Big Lebowski last night. It was alright, I guess. Strange movie. Despite people calling it one of the greatest comedies ever, I just didn't find it to be very funny at all. Donny, the third-wheel of the group, cracked me up, but that's about it.. I've heard a lot of people hate it the first time, then come to fully appreciate it with repeat viewings. So I'll give it a week or so, then try again, most likely.

Hey, it's working! I'm getting over my ex-girlfriend! I'm gonna go on Facebook and talk to my fri-- She changed her profile picture. Damn, she's cute.. I miss her.. ..NO! Stop it, Eric! It's been four months now, you need to move on!

Sorry I keep being the C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!, posting movies that came out ages ago, when everyone else is discussing recent releases, haha.. I'm just now getting really into watching movies, so I have a lot of catching up to do. Anyway: I took the plunge, and decided to watch the unrated version of Requiem for a Dream on IFC. Wow. I knew it was going to be depressing, but that movie was just plain emotionally draining.. but it was absolutely incredible. I'd rank it up with some of the best films I have ever seen, on the condition that I never have to watch it again. I mean, those last fifteen minutes were crushing. The shocks.. UGH

The new Humble Indie Bundle is amazing, guys. Psychonauts, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, LIMBO, and Superbrothers: Swords & Sworcery, and Bastion if you pay more than the average. Oh, and the soundtracks for all of these free (Might I mention that Bastion has one of the best soundtracks of ANYTHING I've ever heard). I own 4/5 games in this bundle, but I'm still mighty tempted to pick this up for Psychonauts and the soundtracks alone. http://www.humblebundle.com/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBzRmWeC6Ds Billy West, Tara Strong, Maurice LaMarche, John DiMaggio, Kevin Conroy, Jess Harnell and Rob Paulsen doing a radio version of Star Wars: A New Hope. 'Nuff said. It's well over an hour long, but it's totally worth checking out. It's awesome.
