  1. Strapping Young Lad - "Love?" This band clicked. I'm hooked.
  2. Rabbit Junk - "Break Shins to This" Ah, my favorite band from early high school. It hasn't held up well, but I have to admit, it's still a lot of mindless fun to listen to.
  3. There is no reason for The Typing of the Dead: Overkill to be as fun as it is. I love it so much. It's a shame that the direct port of House of the Dead: Overkill included with the game is intolerably awkward to play with a mouse. Maybe I'll get my Wiimote working with my computer one of these days, and play the game the way it was mean to be experienced.
  4. Primus - "Too Many Puppies" It took a little time to get a grip on this band, but I've come to recognize that they have some serious talent.
  5. Strapping Young Lad - "S##tstorm" Ok, this is too much. This song is pure, concentrated rage. It's awesome, but I can't take more than a couple songs from this band without needing a break. I've never heard heavier metal.
  6. Dimmu Borgir - "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse"
  7. Equilibrium - "Die Affeninsel" Every time I post a song from this band, I check like five times to make sure I spelled the song names right. Gotta love foreign music for that.
  8. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - "Jimmy Iovine" I always really liked the beat of this song, but I never paid particular attention to the lyrics until now. Holy crap, this is an intense song.
  9. Spectacular weather this week in Sacramento, with highs in the low 80s and little to no wind. Dare I say, this is my idea of perfect weather.
  10. Got this album in a Dimple grab bag today. It's not what I normally listen to, being Irish folk/world music, but I can honestly totally dig it.
  11. Gravity lived up to my expectations. Beautiful, fantastic movie, quite possibly one of my new favorites.
  12. Apparently, starting college isn't enough to stop horrid procrastination habits. So here I sit, at 10 PM, with Comms chapter questions due tomorrow, a speech to prepare for two weeks in advance, two midterms (Computer Science, First Year Seminar) to study for this coming week, a mandatory sexual harassment online class to finish, and an incomplete resume sitting in my documents, playing Cookie Clicker. I think I have a problem. But on the other hand, I'm producing 4.3 billion cookies per second, and things are only looking up. Update: It's midnight, I still haven't done anything. I discovered a playthrough of a board game called Agricola and got engrossed. Also, got an extra 500 million C/s.
  13. My high school theatre teacher/director is playing Frankenfurter in a production of The Rocky Horror Show this month, and posted this picture to Facebook. He's been doing this for years, and playing that role is one of his favorite things in the world... but I have to say, it's a little weird to see an old teacher in drag, haha. Regardless, I'm seeing it for sure.
  14. ^ What did you think of The Stranger in particular? I had to read it for school last semester, and personally loved the exploration of ideas, but couldn't deal with the main character, despite his quirks being the entire point of the book. Coincidentally, that's exactly how I'd describe my feelings toward Catcher in the Rye... Meh when actually reading it, exceptional when analyzing it later.
  15. I've been reading House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski off and on for about two months. Jeez, that's a dense book. But just flipping through it, seeing the typography and stylistic choices, I can't help but be intrigued.
  16. This week, I restarted Dark Souls after making meager progress over the course of a few weeks a couple months back. In less than 5 deaths, I was to the point at which I was previously stuck at (Belfry Gargoyles). That's about 90 minutes of play, and what was at least 75 deaths my first time through. You really do learn how to play better. But last night I managed to beat the Belfry Gargoyles, finally. I had to restore my humanity for the first time, which was rather terrifying due to red phantoms (other players invading your world to kill you), which did indeed slay me once. But when I got to the doorway for the boss, I summoned my first helpers, a player and Solaire of Astora. The Gargoyles went down SO easily with those guys around, especially considering I've probably died about 20 times fighting them over my two runthroughs. And now I have NO idea whatsoever where to go, and am paranoid to be anywhere other than a bonfire due to red phantoms that will get humanity by killing me. Whoopee.
  17. I'd take Baker Cat over Nyan Cat any day.
  18. How was GWAR? They're gonna be playing locally on the 19th, and I'm considering sucking up any nerves and seeing them live.
  19. About two years ago, my long-distance girlfriend at the time was the victim of a rape attempt. I feel like this should have hit me a hell of a lot harder than it did. For some reason, it didn't feel personal, or even real. It was beyond awful for her, but it didn't affect my life in the slightest. Within a month, it faded into the background as if nothing happened. It was never brought up again. This makes me feel like crap, but it's just a testament to how unhealthy that relationship was, among many other reasons. Some of these reasons still have lingering effects today, over a year and a half after breaking up.
  20. I don't have a history of back issues, but GOD, when I rolled out of bed this morning, I had to lie back down. I could barely stand, my back hurt so much. Hopefully it's just the way I slept, and that this won't last longer than a few hours. Also, this was the first thing I saw upon logging into reddit today.
  21. I'm not ready for tonight. I don't think I'll ever be ready. Breaking Bad, I will miss you dearly.
  22. Rage Against the Machine - "Take the Power Back"
  23. Equilibrium - "In Heiligen Hallen" German death/thrash metal. Love it.
