  1. GamerGate. Just... GamerGate. Every single thing about it and the fallout that is happening right now because of it.
  2. ^ Is that not a feature in the console versions? Several reviews state that you can alert the alien using the Kinect's microphone.
  3. Mastodon - "Crack the Skye" Now that I've gotten used to (and fallen head-over-heels in love with) the sound of the album, I've started listening more to the lyrics. Dark, intense stuff here.
  4. Devin Townsend Project - "Planet Smasher (Live at The Retinal Circus)" Dom Lawson's guest vocals make the whole performance.
  5. ^ Heh, I like how the trailer gives nothing away other than the fact that it exists, and is set (at least partially) in Shibuya. I liked that environment in The World Ends With You, so I'm interested. I'm currently playing Persona 3 FES as my first game in the series, and though I'm only like 6 hours into it, I think it's starting to click. The pacing of the game is so bizarre, though, I can't tell if I'm keeping up with how powerful the game expects me to be.
  6. Listen to Pyrrhon - The Mother of Virtues and get back to me about that. Eh... I just can't get into most death metal because of those vocals they use. I like early Opeth, Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, Meshuggah, and Arch Enemy but that's about it for death metal for me. I've tried, but the vocals ruin it for me. For me it's the mixing. Death and black metal so often sounds like a mess of noise to me. Don't get me wrong, I like dense, noisy metal, but it has to be sharp and precise at the same time. But I suppose that's sort of the antithesis of darker styles of metal, right?
  7. BoJack Horseman was better than it had any right to be.
  8. Recently managed to get an invite for, and purchase a 64GB OnePlus One. Slightly off-putting company activity aside, this phone is spectacular. It's big (5.5" screen), fast, beautiful, and a HUGE upgrade from my iPhone 4S. It's just a shame the vibration on my particular device is borked, so I'm in talks with customer service to hopefully ship out a new one soon.
  9. Granted, but in shoving them together, an infinitely deep ravine formed in the ground between them. I wish there was one more week before the start of classes!
  10. Oh boy, my new phone arrived in the mail! ... Aw man, my new phone has a hardware defect (vibration doesn't work) and will likely be RMA'd.
  11. I haven't paid any attention to the show since , and even then it was mostly because he went to my old high school and was a bit of a hometown hero; I felt obligated to see him succeed (or lose to friggin dogs).
  12. Thank you, Telltale Games, for putting a MASSIVE character spoiler in the Walking Dead Season 2 banner on the Steam home page.
  13. I've seen most of the first season, and thoroughly enjoyed what I've watched so far. I'm a sucker for stories about intrigue, and BS:G delivers that in spades, though it's more a mystery for the characters than for the viewers. There are more than enough movies/TV shows on my Netflix queue to keep me occupied for a while, but I fully intend to get back to this show. If you want to give it a try, check out the two-part miniseries that kicks off the first season. Each part is 90 minutes, and by the end of it, you'll know if the show is for you or not. On a similar note, there's a Battlestar Galactica board game that's absolutely fantastic, easily one of the best games I've ever played.
  14. Signals to Vega - "Fear Not the Cycle of Life" I don't know why I've never tried post-rock before, but I'm so happy I did. This is unbelievable.
  15. Still no shame, I love this band. Fun music is fun music.
  16. I've been playing a few different games lately: Tomb Raider - $5 in the Steam sale, beat it in about 11 hours over a couple days. I really want to say this is a great game, but it's just so... meh. Great shooting, but it really doesn't belong in a Tomb Raider game, especially toward the end. Fantastic cinematography and visual style, but they so often limit the action to running down a single corridor as everything explodes around you. LOTS of collectibles, but aside from a little backstory, there's almost zero incentive to gather them. I enjoyed playing it, don't get me wrong, but it promises so much without really following up with any of it, other than the much-too-plentiful combat. Also, SWEET JESUS this game is brutal, to the point of making me look away from some of the death sequences. That wood spike in the river... falk;sdh;gfaksdg. Pokemon: Diamond - 50 hours in. I'm at the doorstep of the Elite Four, underleveled and overwhelmed. This is the first Pokemon game I've ever tried to beat, so I feel accomplished making it this far, but it's taking all my patience to keep grinding and finally finish this game. Something tells me I'm going to take a nice, long break before starting Pokemon X, which I bought about three months ago. Rocksmith 2014 - I've put 30 hours into this game over the last few weeks, and it's become my favorite way to spend my free time. It's not perfect with its note recognition, but I get more than enough satisfaction just learning how to play each song. "Thunder Kiss '65" by White Zombie, "Peace of Mind" by Boston, "Knights of Cydonia" by Muse, "Blood and Thunder" by Mastodon, "R U Mine" by Arctic Monkeys, and "Sweet Mountain River" by Monster Truck are my go-to tracks pretty much every day. It's just too much fun. Civilization V - I think it's finally clicked. The last few times I've tried this game, there were key things I didn't understand (like the benefits of improving city tiles... I'm a little slow with these games, ok?) but this time I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of it. I look forward to the sleepless nights this game will bring.
  17. In case you guys missed it, Capcom won E3 during the very first press conference of the show.
  18. "The Fall" - Gojira I've started to move away from their From Mars to Sirius-era stuff, and really prefer their The Way of All Flesh and somewhat their L'Enfant Sauvage styles. The plodding, massive feel is exactly what I'm looking for.
  19. University class registration. That is all.
  20. After about four hours of fumbling around, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate has finally clicked for me. I somehow put 10 hours into it over the last two days. That's from fighting my first Great Jaggi to barely bagging my first Quropeco just moments ago. This game is awesome. Now to just find more players that live near me, since the 3DS version doesn't have online play...
  21. Actually, never. Now pardon me while I knock on every piece of wood in my house. When was the last time you watched a VHS tape?
  22. Last night and tonight, I watched a couple more brain-benders. The Fountain - After reading as many "BEST MOVIE EVER!" reviews as "MOST PRETENTIOUS CRAP EVER!" reviews, I knew I had to try this movie. I can confidently say that I loved it. The story Aronofsky crafted is challenging, symbolic, and incredibly powerful, and I would not rest until I figured it all out. Will 100% watch again. Mr. Nobody - I.. really don't know what to make of this one. It has similar metaphysical elements to The Fountain, but this one is much more about the love stories. I was generally able to follow it and make sense of (mostly) everything by the end, but I was just bored for most of the film. Perhaps if I'd gone into it expecting less of a sci-fi movie and more of a romantic drama, I would have been able to appreciate it more. But as it stands, I don't care for this one at all.
  23. Congratulations, that's awesome to hear! I'm glad you guys have been happy for so long!
