Thrill rating system
CoasterFanatic replied to johnrose's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have been through all of these different types of rating lists and without resorting to the "pythagorus" type formula that Mitch Hawker uses, I just do 1-10 in my rating system. -
I usually try to point out the worst elements of the things that they have rode before and then tell them how the ride you are trying to get them on is better in comparison. Examples: Space Mountain has a lot of quick sudden jolts that can make your neck ache. Tell her that the Mummy has much smoother transitions and you can better anticipate them. IJ at Disneyland throws your body every which way, but (insert mummy contradiction here) Although I still haven't rode the Mummy, I can't figure that it has any dark moments at all like the chase part of Dinosaur. Good luck!

^ I would do the same if I was traveling any kind of distance. And who knows ... If you get a ride the first day there is always Rye and Astroland at some little "village" about and hour or so away. -

Since I already posted my photos, here is some interesting info about good ol' Weirton, WV (For those of you that are really bored) - My hometown is 94.52% white. (How's that for Wonder Bread) - The men make twice as much as the women - At one time, Weirton was the largest unincorporated city in the US - Weirton is less than 60 yrs old (hence no castles like some of you guys) - ISG (Formerly Weirton Steel) is the second largets tin mill in the country http://www.watch-24.com/articles/Weirton%2C_West_Virginia?mySession=864f385e544e45df13db12e3fecfc5cf Oh yeah ... and they filmed that movie "Reckless" here. Anybody seen it? http://imdb.com/title/tt0087983/

The Worlds Gayest Theme Parks
CoasterFanatic replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am kind of suprised that Universal would "officially" promote a gay day at their parks. The religious right would throw a boycott at them before they even knew what happened. I mean ... they threatened Disney and it wasn't even a park sponsored event. I don't think (at least as of now) that any of these larger corporate parks (Disney, Universal, Busch, etc) would be able to justify sponsoring these type of events for fear of the backlash that will be experience in the so-called "Red States". The "arab" day was a little different, because it was coordinated with the park and was even supposed to be exclusive to muslims (they ended up backing out of this). Another thing that threw a lot of controversy into it was the group that was organizing it (ICNA). -

^ You will here nothing but problems with KK from a site that is 99% CP fan boys. Look at sites that have a little less bias for the REAL news .... like this one. Never knew about the "grizzly" boats, but Kennywood did shoot their Ragin Rapids pre-opening commercial at PKD. -
My Roller Coaster Research Paper
CoasterFanatic replied to coasterdude5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am guessing that this is just a short paper and I am not quite sure what writing level I was on at age 13. Here are some comments: You bring up some coaster without any background to introduce them. Example: Most people that are not in the "know" would ask .... "what is the Bat?". Also: Grammer Change to: "Built in 1989, at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, it was the first successful suspended ..." Also, BBW debuted in 1984. (http://www.themeparkbrochures.com/1984/bgw1984_3.html) One word: "underwater" // Not trying to nit-pick, but want you to get the best grade possible. Keep it up. -
Nintendo Revolution ANNOUNCED!
CoasterFanatic replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
I am with Dave. I would love to get this systems in order to have a nice compact and flawless way of playing the "old-school" games, but I too am curious what the pricing structure will be for said games. // ain't paying $20 for Super Mario Bros -
The Worlds Gayest Theme Parks
CoasterFanatic replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
WDW does not plan, promote, or organize these events in any way, and neither do any other parks (that I know of). The article was most likely found on a Disney "Fan" site. -

320 at Skeeball wins you a medium. I would own the park in a half hour of playing. // Just got my girlfriend a complete set of Carebears on the Cedar Point machines. I am the SKEEBALL king! -
