Didn't management say that the new for 2009 coaster wasn't going to be a Dark Knight or Tony Hawk? I know things change, but like was said before I am sure they already have some plans finalized for the new family coaster for SFMM. I also don't think Shapiro is very worried about regaining the coaster crown just yet. 17 only gets them in a tie and adding two coasters adds to operational costs. I think they will fill the rides out as attendance increases. I wouldn't hold my breath for two new coasters in 2009.

Photo TR: Kings Dominion Dominator Media Day
packfanlv replied to cfc's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Thanks Chuck! I really enjoyed all of the angles of Dominator. It almost looks like they did a Six Flags type landscape under the coaster. Did they use rocks or something under it? Was Dominator built in the old parking lot? Thanks again. -
Photo TR - Disney World and Disney Wonder

^I think you are taking things way too seriously. How many times have we seen WDW trip reports. I think it is great that they found a way to have a little extra fun. If you want to see pictures of WDW without the jellyfish then do a search and I am sure you will find plenty. -
Great Park Operations
packfanlv replied to denning's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Really? I haven't seen them run more than one train on Canyon Blaster in many many years! With that said, they are pretty efficient when the train is in the station. As for operations I to agree that Disney takes the cake. Sometimes it can be rare to see employees who actually do their job 100% of the time instead of talking and messing around. I think a great example at Disneyland is Indy. Those Jeeps continually are pushed out. Space Mountain is also a great example. I get a little nervous when getting off Space Mountain that I will be too slow and someone will yell at me. It seems the people are getting in before you can get out. Oh how I love Disney! -
^I think that since they have such a large building to work with compared to California, that they should design a completely new layout for Space Mountain that is not seen anywhere else. If they make the seating two across then it would have the same capacity as the two sides do now. If they are going to re-do the track then they might as well do it right.

Shawn's Worldwide Adventures! PTRs From My Travels
packfanlv replied to packfanlv's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^Never say never. Who knows what the future will bring. If you asked me a few years ago if I would be able to take over a year off to travel the world with my family, I think I would have laughed. Amazing things are possible if we just open our minds to them. Life is truly a blessing and so many amazing things can happen! Visiting rare theme parks in other countries is just a very small part of that. -
Siam Park - Waterpark in the Canary Islands

That is by far the best looking water park I have ever seen. Wow! -

Thanks for posting that! The first half of the ride seems a lot slower than it actually is on this video, but the second half looks right so it could be my imagination. Either way thanks for adding to this post! -
Coney Island's Cyclone Turns 80
packfanlv replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That article is from 6-28-2007. According to RCDB Cyclone opened on 6/26/1927 making it 80 last year like Hector said. -
Thanks for the TR Hector. As a Southern California native who just visited WDW for the first time last year, I almost agree with all of your thoughts on the Magic Kingdom. I think with all of the extra space they lost a little charm. I also agree that Philharmagic is a really neat show and the PeopleMover is awesome! The only thing I disagree with you on is Space Mountain. I will take the California version any day over the Florida layout. If they do refurb the ride in Florida, I hope they scrap the current layout and design a new one. I can't wait to see your Animal Kingdom pics. At least you left a lot at Magic Kingdom undone so you have a reason to head back soon! God I love Disney theme parks. I only have about three weeks before I get to visit Hong Kong Disneyland. I can't wait!

Shawn's Worldwide Adventures! PTRs From My Travels
packfanlv replied to packfanlv's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
We did stay at the First World Hotel so that we could say that we stayed in the Biggest Hotel in The World. Yes it is absolutely horrible. During our stay we renamed it the Third World Hotel for obvious reasons. I wish that we had stayed in one of the other nicer hotels, but we can't go back now. -

Coasterking - As far as favorite park I would have to say Dream World in Bangkok because of its rip off Disney characteristics. I will have a TR on that in the future. The best ride was definitely Supersonic Odyssey in Cosmo's World. ShaunZer - Yes we visited Genting Highlands. In fact that will be my next TR on this thread. To give you a little sneak peak of my opinion, I HATED IT! More on that in the next TR. Thanks for the comments. Keep em up. -
Great Adventure or Cedar point

Unfortunately due to really long lines I only was able to ride each one once. I never noticed those little things. Thanks for pointing them out to me! -

Yes but the view at night is incredible and the experience unique albeit painful. -

I am curious. For everyone that ranks TTD higher than KK why? The only difference is a little speed and that bunny hill at the end. What makes TTD better? IMO the experience is almost the same and I really couldn't tell you which one I liked better. Maybe I am missing something. Is it the racecar theming? -

Yes it is a lot of driving, but if you only have one day it is still worth it to visit the Grand Canyon. It is spectacular. As for Manhattan Express, it is one of the roughest coasters in the world, but the atmosphere is fantastic and riding it an night gives wonderful views. Just keep your head out front to avoid head banging and you shouldn't have too much pain. Ok, what am I thinking. There will be pain either way, but riding it at night is worth it IMO. -

I have to agree with everyone else. Those photos are incredible. BGE is on my to do list for when I get back to the states. The park really does look incredible! Thanks. -

Coasterking - No, actually there was literally no one in the park and I had to wait twenty minutes between dispatches so they could get more people to ride. Nursemelis- Thanks. This trip has truly been a dream come true! Our trip is starting to wind down and we should be home in the next couple of months. Thirteen straight months of travel has left us all a bit tired! -

I guess the other poster put it better in saying that Magnum is uncomfortable. Yes it banged my knees quite a bit and no I didn't experience much airtime. When comparing it to modern coasters like MF or SROS it just doesn't compare when it comes to comfort. Now I guess I will go drink a glass of milk to strengthen my old bones!
