  1. We're going to be in Houston next week, 23 - 28, for HauntCon. I am thinking of taking our group to Kemah, and well, since none of us have ever been to Houston or Kemah, can I get some help here? From the Astrodome, grrr wish Astroworld was will open, what would be the best way to get to Kemah? Being we're from the chilly Pacific Northwest, it's going to snow this weekend at the 1000 foot mark!, how muggy is it in Houston this time of year? (anyone here live in Houston?) Is there one thing, other than go to Kemah, we shouldn't miss while in Houston? Thanks for the help... Ed http://www.nightmarefactorysalem.com
  2. Thank you. Yes I have used Cinema Secrets for many projects and the werewolf woochie may end up becoming Beast for this show if I don't come across something else. I should start a theater and haunt make up topic, I have some cool sites I could share. It would be nice to schat with other that share the same interest. Thanks again. 3. Over the years I have done all of the make up for the haunt at OSD, but this question is related to an up coming stage production I am working on. I've done dozens of shows but: Where on earth do I find the appliances for - THE BEAST! My wife is the drama director at a local high school, and is mounting a production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I'm going out of my mind here! I have looked everywhere, and what I have found is, meh, so far. Any ideas? Any make up people out there willing to give a guy a helping hand? or at least point me in a different direction? thank you! _________________ Ed Roberts Oregon School for the Deaf http://www.nightmarefactorysalem.com 20 years of clowns, chainsaws and things that go bump in the night!
  4. Does anyone know who manufactured the ride? Too damn cute and once again a nice family ride. SF take note.
  5. I used to work in food service back in the early 80's, is this a picture of Marcia Cantu? She was the head of the area I worked in, but from what I heard she was top dog for food at AFMM. If this isn't her, does anyone know if she's still there? Look like the park is making a come back, nice to see really.
  6. Agreed. I listen to stuff that most people would run in fear from... However rap has some under the gun than most other genres of music, because of his 'gangsta' affiliations.
  7. And so many pop and rock musicians, not all, but many of them, a vast majority of what I saw where songs about losing their girlfriend, having a broken heart, being in love, not being in love, and being sad about being and not being in love. I don't know what's worse, a generic rap about 22 inch rims and iced grills, or a generic rock song about a bad break up. Either is equally uncreative, uninspiring, and forgettable. Furthermore, to say that a musician has to cite a solution to issues raised in their songs in order to be masterful is asinine. Here's the thing: I DO think a fairly large portion of hip hop isn't good at all, especially with the boring genre clichés you cited. But the same thing can be applied to rock. I would say 90% of the artists in any genre are going to be bad, and it's the 10% that make it worth listening to. So I went to youtube to see for myself. Still not impressed. Sorry, I just don't care for him. I am not pontificating the virtues of pop music, just my mis-givings about Li'l Wayne.
  8. Every Li'l' Wayne song. I never knew someone could think of things so horrible towards women. Li'l Wayne is awesome. Dude is a freestyle master. Having little or no idea who Li'l wayne is, I did a lyric search. (some of my students are Li'l wayne fans as well...) Not trying to be prudish, but what? From the song titled HOE'S "I got this rat named Shelly that love Makavelli Number five combo meals and splashin' K-Y Jelly How a old school shorty still drink a forty Grab the mic, start a fight, and...." I took this one snippet from his over 200 songs listed on metrolyrics.com, I took the time to look over some 25 of his "songs", and every single one of them was about some sort of iillicit behavior. How are his lyrics masterful? Is it because they address a real problem in our society? If he were truly masterful, he might offer up a solution too. Like so many rappers, not all, but many of them, a vast majority of what I saw where songs about getting rich, stealing money, doing his bit$^3s and killing to get ahead in life. I for one am not a Li'l wayne fan.
  9. this looks like a ton of fun, one of these days I too will join a TPR trip. even if to go along for the dark rides log flumes and odd foods!
  10. Let me be one of the first to say congrats to DCody. Good for you! Looking forward to seeing your horror film (heard your interveiw on NPR the other day)
  11. Just listened to your interview on NPR, nicely done. Can't wait to see the horror film! (grin!) We need to have a TPR oscar party, if there are Oscars this year... Best wishes to you.
  12. 11:00 pm, it's cold, wet, sleeting, snowing, it's crappy ouside! It might snow later, up to 2" sticking! (I hate winter)
  13. last night it 'dipped' down to 21. It's 10:00 and has warmed up to, yep, 27! the next few days look bleek. I too miss California.
  14. Weather outside is 27, yes 27. daytime highs are 38 to 40. clear as a bell outside. We're going get some rain-snow crap this weekend. Then it's going to worm up, if you can call highs in the mid 40's and lows around 36, warming up. I hate winter.
  15. We saw it last night, and well, we loved it. It's a very complex film and if you're not paying attention you're going to miss so much. Yes the camera work is all handheld and jumpy. Didn't bother us, FAR BETTER THAN BLAIR WITCH, as a matter of fact this I am sorry I even mentioned Blair Witch in comparison to Cloverfield, there is none. Cloverfield is a technical masterpiece. The special effects blend wonderfully. The way you get to know the main characters, is clever. The film doesn't waste time on creature back story, it's not just about the monster. The creature, like in Jaws, on any other great horror film, in more in your mind than on screen. The real terror is how people deal with the situation. The ending is what I had hoped for, I hope Matt Reeves and JJ, get together and make a number two. We too heard people shuffling out bitching about the film... People don't understand a a move if it's not a 'Hollywood" style film. My hats off to the film makers for making a new stylish horror film, were the people are in real danger.
  16. Ed Roberts here... Durning my time as manager for Thrill-Ville USA, they did own a SCAD, however never set it up at the park. It ran at Puyallup once or twice, from what I have been told it was a nightmare to set up. It currently is laying in storage at the park, well it was last time I was there, I left Thrill-Ville after 14 years, and didn't set foot on the property this past season, no real reason, just never found the time to get out there. Last I heard they are selling it, so if anyone want a great ride for their park I know where you can it one at a good price.
  17. I am in the process, after years of procrastinating, of designing a site that will showcase my button collection. I collect pinback buttons of every sort, and currently have 40,000 plus. any way, I am not an internet guru, and need to cut corners. Is there someplace I can go for decent banners and graphics? Thanks.
  18. The roads were frozen with ice this AM, had to eek my way to a HIDA Scan this morning. Supposed to freeze again tonight, not cool.
  19. What exactly is a "Tasmanian Devil Stud?". (read the trailer behind Dan!)
  20. I haven't been on the boards for a long time and when I copme back these great threads pop up... Thank you for this. Somewhere in a box in the attic, I have an old promo reel from Arrow, showing thoer line up of coasters at the time. Plus some old footage of the bat running, if I ever find it again, I'll let someone here know and maybe we can get permission to post the footage online. Ed

  22. Looks like we are going to drive my folks over to the coast (this is still weird to me, even after living here for 22 years, "driving to the coast", having grown up in Ventura). dad wants dinner at one of the casinos that are out there and well, I not one to say no to a visit to the casino!
