  1. i had intended to post more often, but life gets in the way! I have taken off 40lbs and am doing okay. Still tire easy, and have been real moody. I am writing a journal called Ed's Big book of NO! I might post it to the net, we'll see.
  2. Okay, crap! I could have lived an entire life time with out reading this topic. Thanks for that Elissa!
  3. Shouldn't this be in the coaster forum?
  4. Weighed myself today, down 30 pounds in a month! I'm thinking of starting a blog to share my recipes with people, not that they are anything special, but I'd like to find a way to share my experiences. Well off to bed, another da of treadmill tomorrow.
  5. ^^ There are Sonic's in Hilsboro, and in Salem Oregon. That's a little closer than going to Idaho. Used to be a fav, until the heart attack a few weeks ago. Now my fav fast food is what I'm cooking at home. So far I've dropped 24 pounds!
  6. Hi all... Back form the doctors and Cardio rehab! Off work for at least two more weeks. Ouch! starting my tredmill routine. Cleared to go to Disneyland on the 10th. I'll see about setting up a meeting. Take care all.
  7. Found this on you tube just now and thought you might get a kick out of the cars on this ride! Me thinks the owners have had a few issues with riders in the past.
  8. just in from a short walk. The real bummer is my gout popped up, the good thing is my NEW Heart Doc is giving me something for the gout! EBL, I'll drop in at Target and take a look at the snacks there. Something we found are sugar free popsicles and skinny cow for a real treat. PRunes, apples, bananas and grapes. Stay in touch all... Ed
  9. Health Food stores are a lie! We went out for the nightly do, a walk and then shopping for the NEW DIET. Well, we both thought a trip to the one heath food store we have in Salem would be a good place to go, surely they have low sodium choices. Well, we walk out with a half pound of unsalted nuts, a loaf of DAVE'S KILLER BREAD! and some Terra Chips, oh and some bottled water. I am now on a quest for a low sodium pasta sauce, or a recipe for one. Thanks again for the tips... I'll keep you posted on how things are going.
  10. I have had a lot of time over the past two day to research sodium content in food! I am lucky to have not had this heart attack sooner! Sweat Martha! I'd like to share some of my finding with you all, if you're interested, I think you might be surprised how really bad some of the stuff we eat really is. Here the thing though, over these past few days I've been home, I have bee able to find foods that are lower in fat, and salt, and that tastes just as good. Thank you all for the kind words. Ed
  11. Mine was a case of getting stuck in the fast track and neglecting my body. It's too easy to eat out, to grab a bag of chips, to sit by and do nothing. Well that's all a part of my past. We are going out to by a few supplies this afternoon, do a little walking around. Thank you all for the kind word. I feel better than I have in years. A little upset with my FORMER doctor, the signs were there and we both missed them. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Ed (aka buttonman) Roberts
  12. This past Saturday I was taken to our local hospital with bad chest pain and all the symptoms of a heart attack! I was admitted and after an angiogram, it was discovered I have some blockage and that this blockage can not be cleared with balloons or stints. So, now after days in I.C.U. I have been released, and am now on some serious meds, diet change (no more all you can eat for me! ), and very soon a new exercise program. I am grateful to everyone that was there for me the staff at the hospital and all my friends and family. With all this there was some talk of me not going on a trip Kasey, my wife, and I had been planning for some time to Disneyland in early April! We're still going, so far, and if we do go, we'd like to set a time to meet some of you TPR at the park some evening. Ed
  13. Really? This is the ONE thing about this site that really pisses me off royally. I am overweight, and have to say that this constant bashing of fat, overweight or whatever really sets me off. I do not get it! Really I don't....
  14. We LOVE Eugene. great collage town! Funky downtown area, super Saturday Markets. 5th Street market is fun, awesome brokery. Euphoria chocolates is in Eugene, not to be missed. Have them, if they can take yo out to the 'coast', you wont be sorry. Amtrak in Eugene stops in the downtown area, not too far from U of O campus and 5th street market. If you come up during the summer, besides the 'coast', you might want to take a trip up to the Enchanted Forest for a ride on Ice Mountain bobsleds and Big Timber Log ride. Right next door to E.F. is Thrill-Ville with SBNO rides. Let us know if you do plan to go to EF, we'll try to meet you there.
  15. How's about Oregon? We have the seasons you are looking for, people are for the most part good natured. Not too far to get a coaster fix. Cost of living is fair, housing is good, great schools, tons of great restaurants, Portland has some amazing neighborhoods, Seattle is four hours up the road. I grew up in Ventura, I still miss it, however I left 22 years ago and haven't been back. This is about to change, Kasey and I are going to be in Anaheim in early April and plan to drive up to Ventura to have a look around. I thought I'd hate Oregon, I love it now. You need to come up and take a look around.
  16. Pinback buttons of all kinds. I started collecting when I wsa 10, so for almost 39 years I have been collecting. Needless to say I have quite a few buttons, last count was up over 30,000! Always inerested in trading or donations to the collection!
  17. Having been a coaster expedition owner from the EARLY days, I have always loved the music. Keep the3 music on the expedition DVDs and no music on the RAW. Oh and I have secretly dremt of a dark ride dvd. Yes please. Dark rides and water rides are my top favs in amusement parks.
  18. Happy Birthday young lady. Hope you have a great weekend.
  19. Looks as though you had a great time. I haven't posted in about a year, but when I learned you were an interpreter, I had to do a shout out. Been working in Deaf Education for 22 years now! Look forward to see the rest of the report.
  20. http://www.statesmanjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2009901080350 We had one heck of a storm blow through here, I had 18 iinches of snow and ice in my yard, it was amazing, we never get that much snow at one time. I feel sorry for Enchanted Forest, they'll recover, but they lost a lot of old trees.
  21. When Thrill-Ville moved it's SCAD tower they had to add extra axels to the rig to make it legal. No too uncommon for some ot the larger rides made in europe to have the problem.
  22. Salem Oregon is at $1.60 ish. Under a blanket of white.
  23. Hello everyone, Big Ed here. Say I know I haven't been on the forum for a long, long time. Life has a way of taking you in different directions. ever since I resigned at Thrill-Ville I haven't really looked at an amusement park. That aside, I get to travel along with Kasey to Anaheim in April of 2009, she's going for a teachers conference, and I am tagging along. I haven't been to Disneyland in 20 plus years, so I need some advice on places to stay, reasonably priced, but not super 8, are there grocery stores near by? I can get hours and ticketing info from Disney's site. Once we get closer to the trip I'd love to set up a TPR meeting. It's been to long since we've gotten to see many of you. Thank you all for any help. Ed
  24. AS of today... Oregon Washington California Arizona Nevada Utah Colorado Idaho Florida Georgia Loisanna Texas Minnesota Illinois Ohio
  25. Every year The Isabella's are given to those that work to promote the haunt industry or through their works in the industry help others in their community. I received a phone call a few days ago letting me that I have been honored by receiving a 2008 Isabella. Those are some big shoes to fill, I am in some amazing company to be sure. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Nightmare Factory, the longest running haunted attraction in Oregon and the only haunted house of it's kind at a state school for the deaf. there is a haunted house at St. Rita's school for the Deaf in Ohio, a private school. If you like to learn more about the Nightmare factory, click the link below. There you can find a brief history of the haunted house. Meet Isabella
