Hersheypark 2011 [RCT3]
Ccron10 replied to Ccron10's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
A SLIGHTLY Different Frontier. I guess this upcoming HP trip has gotten me into the mood of doing a little more work with this park. I have encountered an old problem that I had with the last attempt. Since Trailblazer likes to use some very odd angles with it's track and the amount of space I have between Storm Runner's launch and dual-loading station; TB's, DGRR, and SR's queue, will be slightly different. If I didn't make these changes, the whole park from here out to Midway America would look deformed. In other news, SR's hydrollic building and some of Pioneer Frontier's Food Court has been laid out. I still need to terraform this area some more. As far as CS goes, I have started and will be finished soon with the first CS ride for the park. I am still trying to map out how to design the FH, and SR pieces. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's a question that I need answered. To make this park be very realistic, I plan on adding rock speakers to each area and playing the same exact music in each of the areas that you hear in the park. I am going to need a list of Music Artists that you hear and their titles, and also the area that you hear this song in. I plan on adding the list to a Word document and putting it inside the download for the park when it's completed. Half of the Food Court is laid out. Stay tuned for another update soon! Some more terraforming needs to be done. -

I wouldn't call Hersheypark's Sidewinder a death-device, but I wouldn't ride it more than three times in a row. If you ride it once, it's ok, but after the second ride, you start to get a headache. It seems like you got a really nice park there. The paint job on the SLC looks great. -
Farenheit not open in October

Looks like it is confirmed that Fahrenheit will be running for Hersheypark in the Dark this October. http://www.hersheypa.com/events/details.php?id=7660 The next question is, what are they going to call it? -
Geez. This all of sudden became an active hurricane season. While the south is worrying about Ike, I might have to start worrying about Hanna. I heard that we might be getting 3 to 7 inchs of rain in my area. I won't directly be affected since my house isn't near a body of water and it's on a hillside in the suburbs.

2008 Golden Tickets
Ccron10 replied to Airtime&Gravity's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I really can't see Knoebels desirving the food award. When I went there last month I really wanted to see what alll the fuss was about with it. The first night I was there I had a slice of pizza and a cup of white birch beer from Cesari's and I beleive that I've tasted better at a family-owned pizza parlor a few blocks down the street from my house. It did taste good, but I've eaten better. But looking at the food from other parks, I really can't beleive that there isn't a park out there with better food. The friendliest staff award is what I could understand. When I was there, the ride ops. and staff were very polite and it was easy to strike up a conversation with them. They would even fool around and tell jokes to the kids. The Best Racing Coaster award of Lightning Racer is another thing I can understand. There aren't many racing coasters in the U.S. and the world with a racing and dueling layout. This award seems always be a give-away. I would've taken a bet that Fahrenheit would've rated higher. -

Sorry for the late reply. Since you're going on a Sunday, it shouldn't be that bad. It probably will be the same way when we go. I'd expect the updated ride list should be up between now and a few weeks before HPITD (And yes, I do think Fahrenheit will likely be open.). HPCrazy and me have now come up with a deadline to sign-up by. We need time to get the t-shirts ready. The deadline is Sunday, October 5th. -
There WON'T be any beach! Ever hear of a little thing we call Storm Surge? NO luckly got spared the worst of Gustav. If it was a couple of miles closer, the Industrial Canal would've been swamped.

I'd seek shelter if I were you then. I wish you the best of luck on riding out this storm and so do all of us. -Chris

SFNO/Jazzland Discussion Thread
Ccron10 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If Southern Star Amusements still plans on reconstructing the park after this storm, I'd be really suprised. A lot of the park's rides and coasters have been sitting uncared for for 3 years. Mega Zyph could be in big danger for it's height and it's age. It withstood Katrina and hasn't been maintained since. The supports are probably rusting and it may collapse. At this point, SFNO's future is as dim as Astroworld's, execpt it will be a marsh. -
The latest news is that the levees will bearly hold. The prediction is that the storm will make landfall as a cat. 3 storm tomorrow morning. If Gustav makes an unpredicted curve to the east of the city, then it could mean the worst for New Orleans in the way of storm surge.
-
This seems to have gotten worse. It now seems more than likely that it will got west of NO which would give the city just about the worst of the storm. We also need to know that some of the levees aren't even finished, which might mean that the city will be in more trouble than it was in 2005. It all comes down to where the storm will be heading and how strong it will be when it makes landfall. So the city will try to evacuate everyone in 3 days? Well, if they wanted to do that, they should've started yesterday. The Weather Channel said NO might start getting affected by the outer edges of the storm tomorrow night and make landfall on Monday. I'm not sure if that's the exact location of New Orleans, but it has to be close to it.
-
This does not sound good. From what I've been hearing, the east side is the worst of a hurricane and from the latest track, New Orleans is in trouble. The storm is projected to gain strength up to a cat. 4 hurricane (I'm thinking it might get to cat. 5 though) when it enters the Gulf of mexico because of the warm water. It will then weaken down to a cat. 3 though and if I remember the old news reports correctly, hurricane Katrina was actually a cat. 3 when it came ashore. But remember, what katrina did was make landfall east of NO and the city didn't didn't get the worst (but it did from it's geographic situation). Gustav is projected to hit west of NO or head-on. If it stays on it's current track, then unfortunately it may possibly be worse than Katrina. Hopefully FEMA learned it's lesson the first time around. I don't want to scare anyone, but after looking back on Katrina, watching the news reports, and used to having an interest in storms, that's my opinion on what might happen.

Why don't you learn the facts before calling my information fake? I have no reason to make it up and don't appreciate your comment. For the sake of people planning to go, I hope the information is wrong, but that e-mail came from Hershey whether you choose to believe it or not. There's a big difference between "could" and "is". But right now I really don't see much evidence to prove that HERCO sent that letter. I am not calling you a fraud, but the way it looks IMO is not that convincing. -

But what about your email? It seems to have a little more detail than CTcoastin's email. His didn't say who sent it. For all we know, that one could be a fake. Bottom line is that the list hasn't been updated yet and I can hardly believe that Fahrenheit won't be on the ride list. They don't even have Howler up either, that should be the giveaway. I am going to find out and email them and try to get the right answer so we can sort this all out. -

Sorry Matt, I just got back from a camping trip and I didn't get a chance to update it. So far we have 3 people meeting up with us in October. It would be great to meet up with more of you guys. Before you guys wonder, I am 100% sure Fahrenheit will be open for HPITD; the park didn't update their ride list yet. -

Ccron10 replied to CTcoastin's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm 100% sure Fahrenheit will open in October and here's why: -The 2008 HPITD ride list isn't even up on the website! Rodeo isn't taken off of it yet! -Why WOULDN'T it run? Just because it valleyed back in May doesn't mean it won't work in cold weather. In fact if I remember correctly, it wasn't that cold outside to begin with. You guys have to be patient with HP. They just need to update the ride list and entertainment schedule. They already did update the addmission prices, so it should be soon that they'll do this. -

HpCrazy.com Hallowscream Meet-Up 2008
Ccron10 replied to Ccron10's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We know. Brandon's Coasters might be the site that will host us. I also want to let you know that the park will more than likely be empty the day we go. Matt (HPCrazy) went in 2003, 2004, and 2006 and the place was empty those days. Expect one to two train waits and walk-ons for the coasters. Even with Fahrenheit being open, there shouldn't be much of a crowd. -

^^I know, it's (HPCrazy) Matt. Because we still need to get the site address. BRTeller is still generously helping us finish making the site. -
Even though our site isn't up yet, we will be having our first group meet-up event for the site. We want this to be a great way to meet our new members and for you guys to meet our staff. Now on to the details! When?- Sunday, October 19th at 1:30 PM. We will all meet in the Main Lobby at Chocolate World, ride the Chocolate Tour Ride, and then enter the park and ride Fahrenheit. We will then go back to Midway America and ride every ride from the back of the park to the front (depending on the sizes of the lines). How Much is the Event? Since we won't have that many perks this event, it's Free to meet-up with us! You still need to sign up with us though because all partisapants will recieve a free website T-shirt. These shirts will be gray with the website logo on the front of them. If you sign up for the event, give us your shirt size. We will hand out the shirts when we meet up with you guys. You will also need to pay for your own admission which is $23.95 a person. If your bringing a friend or parent to chaparone with you, we recomend signing up for the hpfanclub so you can get a buy one-get one free coupon. Is there a limit to how many can sign up? Well, since there's only so many shirts we can hand out, there will be a 20 person limit. How long will the event be? As long as you want to! Matt and I will arrive at Chocolate World an hour or two before the park opens. Matt may leave the park early, but I hope to stay at the park until closing. You would have the option of leaving the park anytime and leave early. Other Important Information: -You would be responsible for transportation to and from the park. The price for parking is $6 or $7 per car or truck. - To sign up for the trip, drop an email or Message to either Matt or me. Include your username, your real name, and the names of who's coming along on the meet-up. Also include your shirt size. -If you fail to show up to the meet-up, your shirt will be kept and given out to someone else on a future group meet-up. - Matt and myself will not be responsible if any site members break the park rules. Only YOU are responsible for yourself. If you break any rules at Hersheypark such as line jumping or anything else that is disrespectful to the park and the people at it, you may be banned from HPCrazy and be disiplined by the park. -If you have any questions about the group meet-up or wish to attend it, email or post below. We will try to get back to you as soon as possible. We hope to see you there! Chris Cronrath HPCrazy.com Admin

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

In less than 1 hour, Canyon River Rapids will enter the list of Removed Rides and joining Western Chute Out, Chaos, Conestoga and a bunch of others. I guess it's almost time to look forward to some construction photos and keeping track of the progress. I wonder how they are going to level out the land for this one because there is about a 15 to 20 foot elevation change from the canyon section and loading and unloading dock. My guess is that the whole area is going to be level with the canyon section and there will be a tall wall behind the new refreshment stand. R.I.P. Canyon River Rapids 1987-2008 -
Ben and I have completely changed the structure of the coaster. We've taken out the support collumns and replaced them with box-like supports. The track has also been added and we are 6 feet tall up the lift tower. We plan on having 2 main towers holding up the lift and drop. We will try to add outriggers and more laterals when they're needed. The next step is starting the second tower, finishing the lift, and build the 97 degree drop. On to the pictures. More soon!
