The only rides that you listed I see that will probably not be moved are the Rapids and Splashdown. Those will probably be used as spare parts since they are very high maintenance rides. The rest seem easy to move. The park will probably be bulldozed over by the end of the year and become a vacant lot like Astroworld.

Although its still a bit early into the announcement, it really feels like Astroworld all over again. It really is kind of sad that the park won't open for one last season. I hope that Great Adventure gains something from this loss like a new flat ride or two. I kind of had a feeling that this was coming, but then again, a lot of us did.

Wouldn't it be better if Vekoma just designated for all their models and call it problem solved? If not that, then how about a water dummy that mimics the size of a 36 inch tall kid? The way it seems, it comes down to restraint size. It just seems kind of stupid to have different ride heights for virtually the same exact rides in the same company.

Good comparison. The Krazy Kars were crappy in my opinion because they are horrible to control and hardly ever give you a good bump when you hit somebody. But is Demon Drop a better addition? It kind of depends. We need to know how frequently how much it broke down at CP and if the park can secure replacement parts. Hopefully it does work well for the park and it's better than nothing.

So does this mean that NBC will be facing bankruptcy soon? From what I've heard awhile ago, Leno and Conan have been practically the only ones keeping them on decent ground. If Conan does go to Fox, he might actually do decent there since, from what I've heard, their ratings are higher. If Jeff Zucker does get fired, I'd expect him to possibly get a hefty golden parachute even if he did f-up the company.

Knoebels Discussion Thread
Ccron10 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^With the finish that they have added to the trough, they would have to. With work starting on Black Diamond, it sounds like things might've gone well with Flying Turns. I wonder what the final designs for the cars look like? EDIT: I found a picture on Knoebels's facebook page that is over a month old now. Looks like the transfer track setion has been installed. Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Ccron10 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I saw that a few weeks ago. I think Legoland in California was one of the first parks to do this. As far as Springtime in the Park is concerned, I pretty much have faith in the maintenance crew that they will try to get Storm Runner and Fahrenheit open this year. The reason why they weren't last year was being behind schedule and that Fahrenheit's trains being in Europe. Hopefully they started earlier this year, but no big deal. EDIT: Took notice that they have Fahrenheit's picture on the Springtime page. Hopefully that could mean something. -
I'd be interested. When I first thought about it, it seemed a little steep since Coasterbuzz want their membership for $25 a year, but after when you look deeper, you don't really seem to get a lot. With what you guys are offering it seems worth the cost (plus you guys don't charge with removing the annoying advertisments). I'll have my $40 on stand-by.

Going On Any Awesome Trips Next Year?
Ccron10 replied to Speeddeamon128's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Let's see: Hersheypark in April (hopefully if Fahrenheit and Storm Runner operate). Six Flags Great Adventure (April or May). Dorney Park (Physics Day). Cedar Point (Unknown at this point). Kings Island (Unknown at this point). Dorney Park (Hopefully to go to the waterpark and ride Demon Drop). From here I'll be in college so hopefully Hersheypark later in the summer and again in October since it's not far away. If I get a job there, then it will be more frequent. lol -
I'm straight. I have nothing against gays or lesbians, but I just think it's wierd if it's extremely out in the public. I have absolutely no problem if it's just a casual holding hands, but I think kissing is where it might be crossing the line.

24 Days of Theme Park Review Videos!
Ccron10 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Agreed. Too bad most of the park is probably sitting vacant and rotting away (same for Aska). -
I just find it rediculus how every trip report has to be ALWAYS positive or people start criticizing and bashing the poster because they think a park or event is the best thing ever. Aren't the point of trip reports to point of the negatives and positives of parks? You have every right to say whatever about the park and let me say congrats, and from the ads for Christmastown it looked like it would be a quality X-Mas event, but I guess it wasn't. Who seriously puts penguins in a small aquarium for fish? That doesn't sound like Busch Gardens for some reason. About the Christmas Pudding... Sounds like the gift that you can keep on giving! lol I wouldn't lock it in a closet though.

There's a reason why I think Hershey shows off the best during Christmas and you pretty much showed my reasoning. They don't skimp on decorations, it's always festive, and its the most detailed. As for the N.O.E.L. show, I'll see about getting video of it when I go in several weeks (as well as some sort of a trip report).

My drawing of Hersheypark (with a surprise)
Ccron10 replied to HPCrazy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^They don't. Hershey deals with Amusement Media Inc, but I don't know if they still do. The last time they had a logo on one of their maps was in 2006. I'd email the park directly at Hersheypark@HersheyPA.com Just say which department you'd like to address it to, you should get one confirming that it is being transferred. If you don't hear back from someone there within one or two weeks, try again. You would probably might need to promote your drawing to them possibly. -

Looks even better than the map you did last year. Good job Matt. I say try contacting the merchandise department and see if they are interested and pitch this idea to them. -

I do have several Raging Rapids photos from Kennywood, but no pictures of the sign. Here's a link to my Trip Report; you may find some more to use: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=52051 -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Ccron10 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What I did is kind of recycle this thread and made it more generalized. New for Hersheypark Chrismas Candylane in 2009 is N.O.E.L. – Nights of Extraordinary Lights. From the way it sounds is that the show might be a holiday-themed version of Cedar Points Frontier Trail show. In other news, the park may have a few small improvements set in store for 2010:(Screamscape) -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Ccron10 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The ride's rep. has already been ruined anyways to the GP and from the way it sounds, the whole structure is currupt. I predict it might come down later this year or sometime next year. I wonder what their choice destruction will be? Chainsaw? Dynamite? Wrecking Ball (more likely.)? -

Damn - I never stopped at Primanti because I had heard they refuse to make the sandwiches without slaw. Maybe I'll stop in the future. Why would they refuse to do that? It's like not wanting onion on a cheesburger. The coleslaw in my opinion, kind of ruins the burger since that's the only thing you taste on it. By the way, what is the most famous food in Pittsburgh? Primanti's says that their's is the second best. I really do need to do the incline the nexttime I'm out there. -

A few things I learned in Pittsburgh: -You can't walk fifteen feet without walking into someone wearing a Steelers jersey (its a LOT more for a Pirates jersey). -Expect to drive through more tunnels than you have in your life. Finally -ALWAYS eat at least once at Primanti Bros (just don't get the coleslaw on the sandwich). Luckly a college I got accepted at has one of these one block down the street. Glad you guys enjoyed your time there. Good TR.
