Hersheypark 2011 [RCT3]
Ccron10 replied to Ccron10's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Update: I've got a bit further on the park since last update. I've been mostly jumping around to different sections of the park adding buildings and scenery here and there. Here's what I've got done so far: Shot0001.bmp I've added a few custom supports to Fahrenheit to give it's distinctive look. Shot0002.bmp Storm Runner's station isn't "exactly" laid out like the real one, it almost looks identical. Shot0003.bmp Founder's Circle is finished for the most part. The only thing I have to add is Der Deitsch Platz (The area in front of Craftbarn). Shot0004.bmp Shyguy's Circus Set was used heavily here. Shot0006.bmp For Milton Hershey's statue I used the glockenspiel for the time being. But you can see how perfect it is compared to a real picture of this area with the Kissing Tower in the background. Shot0007.bmp Some of the various kiddie rides in Founder's Circle. Shot0008.bmp Unfortunately some of the rides do not exist in RCT3, but if someone would be interested in making some of them, it would really help a lot. Shot0009.bmp Kosher Mart (Sky Ride station). Shot0011.bmp Hmm. What could this be...? More soon! -

It did, but Chocolate World ended that and now there's just an unused 2nd station in the parking lot. I like the new Fahrenheit ride signs they added. A lot better than the big one over the station. I hope to make it out there towards the end of next week. -
I look at it this way: Even if it doesn't get built, then we know what Six Flags would want to do if they were free of any financial limitations. If this would be built, then I would bet without hesitiation that it would be a park that could be as great as the Disney Parks. Can't wait until more artwork is released.

Fuji-Q is one of those parks which looks cool to visit, (sounds like I should do a TPR trip sometime) but would hate after I visit it because of the lines. I still have to wonder, does their management know of this problem? It seems like their goal is to purposely do this since almost every TR from there always has poor operations. -

Yes, but they also like toying around with us. What knowit didn't post here, but did on C-net, was that the "stake" in the golf course along the road was a fake. It turned out to be nothing more than just a stick with a piece or ribbon tied to the top. Hardly official for any serveying companies. -

Wow. The cable guide is bent completely sideways and you're right about no fraying. My guess is that the cable lost it's tension. I was thinking about going on next Saturday, but with Storm Runner being closed, I'm betting that the crowds will go to the other rides and make the lines longer than usual. The evil Intamin cable strikes again. But seriously, it seems like this is starting to become a problem with some of the rides, should it be something to worry about? I've visited Hersheypark's Maintenance Dept. and they are very focused on safety and I'm sure they would have found something in their morning checks. -

was pretty telling. Why not read the article and draw the conclusion from that instead of speculating? Because I thought it ment two separate ideas instead of one when I read the article. Thanks for correcting me on that. -

My guess is either the "age" of the ride, the height of the ride or the theme that they want to use. The system that StarFlyer uses is somewhat similar to the rocketship ones that used to operate at Dorney Park and even the new one that was built for DCA. On height, the dinosaur pictured is famous for it's long neck. As for theme, I highly doubt that Cedar Fair would even have the creativity to make a new theme land unless it's called "Trashcan Land". -

Hersheypark is not PGA. The same markings that appeared before Fahrenheit was built are appearing right now. Right now I'm just going by what the evidence says. I also want to point out that the park plan on having a zoning board meeting to discuss "Attraction 2012" tonight: http://www.derrytownship.org/images/stories/public-notices/notice%20of%20hearing%2008-18-10.pdf So while I'm not absolutely say with certain it's going to be a coaster, the evidence found supports it such as the numerous markings and stakes found: http://keystonethrills.webs.com/attraction2012updates.htm -

For me, Wildcat, Sidewinder, and either Sooperdooperlooper or Trailblazer. Wilcat is rough and even with the millenium flyers, it still is a bad ride IMO. Sidewinder: enough said, but if the park got the new vekoma trains, then I could see the ride being more enjoyable. Looper could be removed on economic terms since it never got a line like it used to (these days it seems like it has a 0-10 minute wait) and Trailblazer seems to be at a location that is pretty much less traveled since you have to walk down a steep hill to get to it (the ride also isn't really up to today's standards since it doesn't have an elevator to the station platform. -

Nope. I didn't really get a picture of them, but I discovered them at various points on the ride. -

Tilt-a-Whirl is much older than 10 years. It was added to Carrousel Circle back in the mid 1980s then moved to Comet Hollow in 1995 to replace the Rotor. I do know that it is a simple ride to move because they take it apart and keep it inside during the winter. I'm not so sure about a drop tower going there. One side will have it's view blocked by Comet's lift hill. If it was out in Midway, then it would make sense. -
Since today is kind of a slow day for me, I guess I should work on posting some trip reports that have been collecting dust on my computer. Dorney Park 5/9/10 My Physics class at school was holding a Physics Day at Dorney and since I couldn’t say no to a park visit, I ended up going. After waiting ½ hour for the ropes to drop, we walk-on to Hydra (our experiment coaster). While it wasn’t the best B&M I’ve been on, it still was a relaxing ride. My group then rode Enterprise then followed by Thunderhawk which gave a slightly smoother ride than last time, but was still horrible in the turns. Talon on the other hand rode pretty nice that day with either a walk-on up to a 10 minute wait. Following Talon, our class had a catered lunch with burgers, chips and ice cream cups which was great. From here I wanted to go at my own pace so I broke away from my group and decided to go ride Steel Force and becides the part of some girl thinking it would be great to take her camera on with her and having to stop the ride, it rode good, but it lacked some airtime. I next rode Talon again then took some pictures of Demon Drop being built. Our class left at this time so it was a short but sweet day. I wish I got a chance to ride Possessed, but since it was closed, I had to wait until later in the season. This was the best visit I had to Dorney and I was hoping for the same thing for my next visit later in the summer, but unfortunately it didn’t go as planned which I’ll get to later. The sun raises over Dorney Park as it starts to open for the day. Hydra's cobra roll says hello! Don't worry, this was only a one or two train wait! Demon Drop's construction could be viewed throughout the park. There has to be a rule somewhere stating that you MUST have this photo in your trip report. Testing or invisible riders, you decide... Later in the day it had a 10 to 15 minute wait with 2 trains. Do they ever use all 3 at one time anymore? Something is missing... Almost. Sorry folks! Almost wanted to get squishy wet shoes for this one, but decided to wait later in the season. The train to nowhere. I know that the route used to be longer, but it has to be the most pointless ride at the park. It never has a line and plus there's nothing to see on it! Rode Hydra again later in the day with a small wait. Did anyone know about the red dots on the spine of the track? I like Hydra's Station because of the style of it's roof and how open it is. Mmm... twisty. Through the trees. Thunder Creek Mountain is closed.... For the construction of this thing. I will post my opinion of the ride later. More soon!

Thanks for the update. According to screamscape and the Derry Township website it seems like the park is planning on getting together and discuss about adding a tall attraction: Below is an article that was posted on screamscape as well. Intamin? B&M? Hyper? Giga? Aquatrax? Still so many possibilities for it to be. -
Bowling. Yes people it is a sport.

Here's an update from someone at Keystone Thrills who visited the park recently. http://keystonethrills.megabb.com/hersheypark-happenings-discussion-f18/2011-2012-new-coaster-rumor-discussion-t157-255.htm#2074 A fence is appearently going up along an old train path that ran along Spring Creek as well as some more stakes, markers and an outline that looks like it could be for a building of something in front of Tilt-A-Whirl. The main point I'm thinking is why build a new fence in an area that the public hardly ever sees? Could it be a new or temporary path to reroute around an area? Here's a photo from my RCT park showing where everything in this area is. It is not entirely to scale though, but pretty accurately shows the spot. Shot0021.bmp -

It rides like you are going down a hill in a recycling bin. It closed for a few minutes while I was there. It bangs around a lot and it was a really poor decision for the park to add it. I don't think any other park deserves it either. -

How were crowds? I figured it would be empty since it was supposed to thunderstorm. The park wasn't too bad all day, but the waterpark was packed. My girlfriend and I stayed there from it's opening until 3pm and did the wave pool a few times, both lazy rivers, Riptide Run (had no wait) and the playstructure. I ended up doing Cascade and it had a half hour wait (it was the only slide I ended up going on) and the others had a line 3/4 of the way up the slide towers. We also rode Wild Mouse which had a 1/2 hour wait and a couple of line jumpers. I tried to block their way through the queue and tell them it was again the park rules, but they just pushed their way through and didn't understand English (literally). There was a person or two doing this at White Water Landing and luckly two ride ops caught them as they were entering the ride to start their shift, but after a minute of talking to them, they just had him stand near the entrance to the station off to the side. Talon, Hydra, Thunderhawk, Posessed, Steel Force all had a 1 to 2 train wait and the flats were all 1 cycle waits or a walk-on. The operations varried from place to place. The Gameday Grill was great, but we stopped at Clucks and Franks to get more soda and the girl in front of me was waiting 5 to 10 minutes for someone to take her order. We also saw Snoopy Rocks on Ice. We saw that the front row was empty so we went there, but it ended up being a "splash zone" but it was a good show. In short, I've got all the credits (except for the kiddie coasters) and don't have to go back here for awhile (which is probably when they would get a new coaster). While the waterpark was good, it's not something that would make me return. I'd rather spend the extra bucks and go to Hershey which hardly has any linejumpers whenever I go there and is a higher quality of a park than Dorney IMO. -

I don't know, but the can be a pain to open sometimes. I went to the park today and had an okay visit. It could have been much better though. -

Or they could build over the Comet. My bet is that the pink stakes are for supports since there were some scattered near Comet's station and running along side it. I've also herd that there are a lot of orange stakes along spring creek on the other side of Comet the are spaced out a few feet apart. -

Looks like Comet might not be in danger after all. A recent member at Keystone Thrills traveled to the park and got a picture of a lone stake in the center of Comet's curved station. Photo by CoasterBGW. Now there seems to be more reports of a lot more stakes have showed up scattered in the area between the Comet, on each sides of the creek and down to Creekside Catering. Appearently they are laid out in the way that they line up just like coaster supports. It also seems like the Tilt-A-Whirl may be removed for the coaster's station. -

The Kissing Tower and Storm Runner are the park's tallest rides. They may have either ment nothing about their post, or they may have giving us a hint. All I have to say right now is that I have to wonder if something may happen to the Comet since 99% of the markings have been spotted surrounding it. There was even a stake found next to the exit path in the center of the curved station with a pink flag attached to it. The only downside to the ride I would think why they would want to remove it would be the ride's capacity. PTC is still in business, it's not rough, and maintenance is pretty much the same as Wildcat and Lightning Racer.
