  1. The more pictures I see of this coaster, the more I want to make my way all the way across the pond! Although I don't know if I want to rent a 1 bedroom apartment just to ride the other roller coasters at Thorpe
  2. Get NEXUS https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/main/goes And I think a lot of people are going to be needing passports/NEXUS for 2012 to go all around the world! Just glad Leviathan is one of the many world-class coasters for next season.
  3. Magic Mountain has spent millions of dollars on new roller coasters and the Point hasn't over the past few years (yes, CP has spent money on other attractions but not nearly as much). I'd love to know exactly what the ROI was on MM's coasters vs. the non-coaster additions CP has brought in. The resorts at Cedar Point are constantly full, even with no major coaster additions. If anything, Cedar Point is the smart one out of those two when it comes to creating a sustainable program for capital expenditures vs. ROI. Sure, as a coaster enthusiast, I LOVE to see new coasters. But you have to remember these companies have to make money to stay in business and make even more money to continue adding these large attractions we all love.
  4. Next time I head up to the park, I'll be sure to use the super-zoom lens on it to get a better shot. Here's the best I could do with one of the pictures I took from this update:
  5. It was a COLD but very sunny day today up at Canada's Wonderland. Crews are still working away on weekends to get up as much of the structure they can before the harsh winter weather sets in. Full photo update including the completed overbank turn, short speed hill and most of the camelback hill: http://www.cwmania.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=50687#p50687 Completed brake run. Completed speed hill. Almost complete camelback hill.
  6. http://leviathan.canadaswonderland.com/public/latest/blog/2011/12/12/Continuing_the_Track_to_New_Heights.cfm New Blog entry as well. It's amazing that they have 50% of the track installed and we're only half way through December. It's great knowing they got a great start prior to the winter months to ensure this beast opens on time. http://leviathan.canadaswonderland.com/public/latest/ And they've updated the latest pictures along with putting them up on Facebook.
  7. Lots of pictures taken from Saturday afternoon: http://www.cwmania.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=50507#p50507
  8. I'm not quite sure why you think footage of them crowning the lift hill as time filler. I've seen LOTS of still photos but I haven't seen any video from the top of the lift like that. They spoke with some of the top players from the park and the company that's putting this monster together. They also added in a few things that I found interesting (specifically the exact angle of the track had to be set before starting to lift). What else did you want/expect? I've only been at work for 20 minutes and I've already been asked by 2 people about that clip. They didn't even know Canada's Wonderland was building a new roller coaster (never mind the 5th tallest in the world). They came up to me asking if I knew about it. This was a GREAT clip for the vast majority of people that watch Daily Planet. I'm sure very few of them are coaster enthusiasts like us that know every single detail and have seen hundreds (thousands) of pictures of the same few pieces of track over the past few months. I guess you just can't please everyone (especially some coaster enthusiasts).
  9. Just a friendly reminder about Daily Planet tonight on Discovery Channel between 7pm-8pm with the Leviathan clip.
  10. Hey everyone, just want to let you all know there will be a Canadian Discovery Channel piece on Leviathan that will air tomorrow night (November 30th) at 7pm on Daily Planet.
  11. Since B&M is pushing their standards for size on this coaster, they wanted to go with their classic train design as they've been reliable in their previous installations. They'd like to avoid any "surprises" like the vibrations/rattling of the newer train designs used on Behemoth, Diamondback and Intimidator.
  12. I think this is a page that isn't meant to be active yet. I don't think they'll be starting the auction until the new year.
  13. Dragon Fire is not going anywhere anytime soon.
  14. http://leviathan.canadaswonderland.com/public/news/auction/rider_auction.cfm Info on the first riders auction.
  15. Yes, they use the lot as vehicle storage each off-season. I believe the north lot is currently full of brand new Cadillac CTS's. Oh, and I can NOT WAIT to be plunging down this drop!
  16. The drop will be more than 306'.
  17. The two temporary supports should be removed some time this coming week. I believe the last piece was put in place between 4pm-5pm yesterday (and it gets dark here around 5pm now). Hoping for another official construction tour within the next week or two so I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as that happens! Oh ya, dinosaurs too:
  18. Leviathan's lift hill & first drop have been connected. It TOWERS over the rest of the park. Pictures don't really give you a great perspective, it just has to be seen in person. It's so impressive! Full photo update of Leviathan construction can be found here: http://www.cwmania.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=50171#p50171 This picture is taken from Hwy 400 & Hwy 7. I think this gives a better perspective on how much taller Leviathan is over Behemoth.
  19. Looks like there's only one piece to go intil the lift hill is complete and connected to the drop. I hope to get pictures up tomorrow morning. Not home this evening.
  20. Sorry for the double post, but just thought I'd bring to everyone's attention that Dinosaurs Alive at Canada's Wonderland is official: http://dinosaursalive.canadaswonderland.com/ Right on time and sooner than you thought
  21. The temporary supports are put there while they're constructing the entire support structure. Once everything is properly in place, they will be removed. It looks like the entire structure is done in that picture so they probably removed them the next day. They did the same with a previous a-frame support. Per the official blog: "We have installed the last set of lift columns, keeping lift construction on schedule to be completed this week. There are two temporary supports in place that will be removed once the last lift section is installed."
  22. The footers are complete now. They installed most of the brake run to almost the top of the lift. They've also completed the valley of the first drop up to almost the top of the first drop. The crown of the lift hill should be installed this week if weather co-operates if not, by the end of next week. Then the rest of the track will be put in place. I'll keep posting photo updates as constructions continues.
  23. So the last "supported" piece of track was installed today. I've read that the supports were attached to the track later this afternoon. I was able to get some pictures from the employee lot as I was meeting up with an employee at the park today.
  24. ^It may be sooner than you think...
  25. It's a standard B&M mega-coaster train with clam shell restraints (just a bit shorter with 8 rows instead of 9).
