  1. ^I'm LOVING the pictures/updates thus far! The more booze and questionable food, the better!
  2. We had a blast at this park during the 2011 Northeast trip. This will be a great addition to their water park.
  3. This coaster just looks like a piece of art. Amazing eye on the person that took those shots at night. I'm really looking forward to seeing if it keeps up this pace once it's open to the public.
  4. ^^Agreed. I was good with Medusa as well. But if it worked for the park to re-brand it, I guess it's a good thing. I completely forgot there were only 2 seats available in the back row this past summer when I visited... I'd be okay with that if the audio worked on a regular basis!
  5. I'm really interested in hearing opinions from people that have ridden Swarm/Wild Eagle compared to this. Looks like I'm going to be getting to Great America this summer but not Dollywood. I know Canada's Wonderland was eying this coaster concept as well...
  6. Test runs should start in a week or two
  7. ^^ Yes, it's the maintenance bay. The rest of the course is "normal" track.
  8. Awesome, thanks for posting the links. The red trains REALLY stand out against the track colour.
  9. Wonderland has posted pictures to their Facebook page of the first Leviathan train being lifted onto the transfer track! Sorry, can't link to the picture in this post (at work). Not much longer until it makes its first test run!
  10. I knew it would make a difference, but WOW, what a huge difference! It looks amazing opened up like that.
  11. If they really add this drop ride to Kingda Ka's tower structure, all I can say is that's going to be a LONG walk. I agree with others here that there needs to be another major attraction over that way to bring people over (especially those that may not be ready to ride KK).
  12. ^Fantastic! Wasn't planning on a BGW trip this summer... But this has definitely thrown a wrench into my plans! Perhaps another trip to VA is in order after all.
  13. Thank you so much for sharing all these awesome pictures for us! It's so great seeing the parks when they're mostly abandoned. It's just such a different perspective. Hopefully more coaster groups will be able to get more parks to open their gates to groups to share these things with more enthusiasts.
  14. So Skyrush has me making my first trip to Hershey this spring/summer. I've been wanting to make it to this park for years now but this just finally pushed things over the top for me. I really think I'm just as excited about this being only a few hours away as I am having Leviathan in my backyard. Good thing I love B&M and Intamin equally for such different reasons.
  15. ^It really was sad. So many lights burnt out. I'm so excited to see the amazing light packages come back to all 3 rides. Millennium Force use to be so impressive at night. Same with Power Tower. Power Tower was so sad having some lights stuck on one colour or another with others randomly changing. Cedar Fair is doing a lot of general park improvements chain-wide this year which is always a great thing!
  16. I was surprised to find they were separate up-charge attractions. I would have thought the movie would be included with admission to Dinosaurs Alive. It will be interesting to see what all the other parks do with it this season.
  17. I can confirm that one of the trains are on site and it looks amazing. Can't wait until it's moved out on to the course. I believe the second train should be arriving at the park shortly (the third is a month or so away). I'm not sure of an exact time, but I'm guessing the auction rides will be early-mid afternoon. I'll try and get more details next time I'm at the park (hopefully this coming week).
  18. Yep, all the rides should be up and running for SPPN. I'll keep you posted as we get closer if there's anything you can expect to not be open that night.
  19. The auction rides will happen in the afternoon. That evening is season pass preview night so you and your guest will be able to go around the park with everyone else.
  20. They have not yet announced the details about the sign/entry plaza. It will look amazing when it's done though! The station area is being themed in a similar fashion to the other coaster stations in the Med area. Cyber Central arcade is also getting a make-over to match the Medieval theme once again.
  21. The only blemish I really noticed in the park was the former Two Face location. The dilapidated station looked pretty bad. I hope that area gets cleaned up. I have to say, Jinx was SUPER smooth. I couldn't believe how much better it was than the Flight of Fear models. I think I rode 4 or 5 times in a row (unlike the FoF single rides being enough).
  22. I stopped by SFA for the first time last year. I went on a Sunday around the beginning of May. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the park was. It was a cloudy day with light mist/rain so the park was empty. The staff were extremely friendly, greeting me at the entrance to every queue. Staff in the stations were very chatty with me between dispatches. Batwing had some troubles throughout the day but every time it went down, the maintenance crew was there fairly quickly to get it back up and running. It's amazing to read about the state of the park from years ago. I can definitely say the park I visited last year was nothing close to those descriptions. I highly recommend giving SFA another shot if you haven't in the past few years.
  23. The original construction plans for Leviathan clearly stated "Giga Coaster" on them (not to mention many of the tags on different materials used). Intamin/Cedar Point may have been the first to use the term, however it's generally accepted that any roller coaster over 300 feet is a "Giga" coaster. It's similar to how a "Strata" coaster is generally accepted as any roller coaster over 400 feet. But if you look at the name given to that coaster type by Intamin, they're in the group "Accelerator Coasters". B&M calls one of their designs a "Hyper" coaster. Intamin calls that same height category "Mega" coasters. So does that mean Intamin hasn't built any hyper coasters? Really, this is just semantics. Sure individual companies will call their designs different things however, the general coaster community calls coasters over 200ft "hypers", over 300ft "gigas" and over 400ft "stratas".
  24. And remember, these are not fixed trims. The "open" and "close" and will only be used when necessary (just like the friction trims used on Behemoth). There are only 2 trims along the course. One on the up-side of the first camelback and one on the up-side of the second camelback hill.
  25. ^I'm sorry I made that sarcastic remark now...
