  1. http://www.cwmania.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=49921#p49921 The spine support going right to the ground was in the original renderings. It seems it was just a "minor detail" we didn't catch until now.
  2. Weekdays in May or June or weekends after Labour Day.
  3. I'm always searching for that "perfect shot"!
  4. Ya, it's currently around 240'. I don't remember the exact height they mentioned. Still lots of surprises to come with this ride... From statistics still yet to be released to some final touches that will be done around the ride itself.
  5. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1107070#p1107070 And here too
  6. Cwcoasterboy and myself were treated to a construction tour today of Leviathan. There's many more pictures located in this gallery: http://www.cwmania.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=242&page=1&sort=dd The lift hill track was being fixed into place as we were arriving. Everything was just being completed as we arrived. The workers look TINY way up there. Another piece for the lift hill. A shot from the future entrance area to Leviathan. Leviathan towering over Dragon Fire. Leviathan is now officially taller than Behemoth. The crown sitting and waiting to be raised into place. Looking between Dragon Fire's loops. Bottom of the first drop. It's going to be a BIG drop! Looking toward the future barrel roll/turn. There are some interesting looking supports/anchors along the course. These are what they lift the track & supports with to prevent any damage while being installed. Portions of Leviathan lift chain that have been put together piece by piece by hand. Lots of bolts to hold the chain together. This is the machine that puts the bolts and the pieces of chain together. All these crates are full of pieces of chain that have to be assembled then fed into the lift when it's complete.
  7. The lift hill track has been installed up to the highest support as of today. It is now officially taller than Behemoth. I have a full construction tour & photo update that I'll post after I get home from work tonight around 7pm.
  8. The lions are from the former entrance to Great Whale of China (relocated to Carowinds - now known as Peanut's Pirates) located where Time Warp's entrance is currently placed. They were used in the same spot last year during Haunt.
  9. I'll try to find out for you on our next construction tour.
  10. I got to the park for the last standard operating day of the 2011 season. Another construction update on CWMania including the next supports for the lift and the completed first valley: http://www.cwmania.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=49836#p49836
  11. Another Leviathan construction tour at CWMania: http://www.cwmania.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=49750#p49750 I can confirm that WindSeeker is running with yellow/orange/red lights on the tower however the normal multi-colour display is running on the gondola. And a few scene on the mountain include a full moon at the top with a man walking around that turns into a warewolf, witches flying around on broomsticks, a large jack-o-lantern, lightning flashing on the mountain and skeletons hanging from different parts.
  12. Lift hill for Leviathan continues to grow! http://www.cwmania.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=49678#p49678
  13. The dampers were installed just after Labour Day however they weren't able to do full testing until the last week of September as this is when the winds finally picked up enough for them to test them properly. There's still some adjustments that need to be made but they've apparently made quite a difference. - September 22, 2011. Just sayin' is all... To all those unbelievers.
  14. The tower fluctuates between yellow, orange and red. The gondola is still the normal range of colours & patterns. Full Leviathan update here (transfer track & maintenance bays have been installed): http://www.cwmania.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=2222&start=180
  15. Drop Tower's queue was reduced to about 1/3 the size this season. The rising waters game will be removed/relocated. The entrance to Leviathan will be located near the shop just beside Nightmares, just south of Drop Tower. The station will be much smaller than Behemoths (shorter trains). And they're working on a better location of stairs in the station to improve loading & unloading passengers as quickly (and safely) as possible. And remember, they don't put in huge queues anymore. I wouldn't expect this queue to be much bigger than Behemoths (max 1 hour wait).
  16. I'll take 10 mazes (most of which are really well done) over a couple mediocre scare zones and just a couple mazes (ala Cedar Point). My group of friends and I found the "scare zones" at Cedar Point to be really weak in general over the past few years. I'd prefer the extra monsters go in more mazes than have to sacrifice that to fill the midway. Sure there were a couple stretches that could use a little "something" (especially between Splash Works and White Water Canyon)... Maybe some smoke and just a couple monsters in the area would be good enough.
  17. Canada's Wonderland Haunt stuff can be found here: http://www.cwmania.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2209&start=105 As for Wonder Mountain, the projectors are used to display a few different "scenes". Overall, they're used to create a lightning effect on the mountain. There's also a blueish shadow effect, a moving spotlight and also a large jack-o-lantern face. There may be more but those are the few I've seen thus far. And a quick Leviathan construction update can be found here: http://www.cwmania.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=2222&start=150
  18. I'm not going to lie, it took awhile for me to get all the lingo down as a Canadian. Some of the stuff was difficult to grasp but I'm good to go now! -Canadian Nick
  19. Sorry to double post, just thought I'd share this info: As of last week, Norm Pirtovshek has taken over as General Manager of Canada's Wonderland. He's the former VP of Maintenance and Construction. Raffi Kaprelyan left Canada's Wonderland to return to Knott's Berry Farm as the General Manager after Marty Keithley resigned from the company to pursue other interests.
  20. I'm not sure if this has been posted anywhere, but just thought I'd mention it in case it hasn't. Marty Keithley, park General Manager has resigned to "pursue other interests." Raffi Kaprelyan (who originates from Knott's Berry Farm) has returned after holding the position of General Manager at Canada's Wonderland for the past few years.
  21. It was a substantial sum to purchase all the equipment. So I would definitely expect to see them used again. They are still set up so hopefully that means they have plans to use them during Haunt.
  22. Canada's Wonderland owns all the equipment that was required to run Starlight Spectacular. Expect to see some sort of projection for Haunt and a return of Starlight Spectacular in 2012. Obviously there's still a cost to design a new show however after you've purchased all the expensive equipment, you might as well keep kicking a bit of extra cash each season to keep it going.
  23. The area wraps around from behind the washrooms in Planet Snoopy (the former Bedrock Aquarium site) all the way around behind the food building in the former Bedrock/Nick area over towards the party tent.
  24. I can confirm that one large crane is on the Leviathan construction site. The turnaround to the lift has been completed.
  25. You may want to take a second look. The blue covered tent at the corner of Major Mac & 400, the former Bedrock Aquarium, was removed the week after Labour Day. All the seats have been removed and as of a week ago, all the concrete had been broken up but was still on site. I'm sure it's all been cleared out over this past week. There are stakes that stretch from behind Boo Blasters back towards the turnaround on Ghoster Coaster. With the high attendance and the fact that people spend TONNES of money at Wonderland (I've never been to an amusement park where there are lines at almost EVERY concession stand in the park during a weekday in the summer), I can see this attraction being another great source of revenue. If you'd prefer, just ignore my posts and don't believe... But Skycoastin' Steve has proven in this thread that people can have info without "proof".
