PTR: GADV 5/18 with some Rain!

Oh ok. That is pretty sweet. As long as I get on Dark Knight, El Toro and Nitro I'll be happy. -
2008 NBA Playoffs: What to look out for in the west

Horry? Once a great player? I agree with everything you said other than that. He was always a jerk on the floor even back in his Rockets days, another team that I couldn't stand. -

How long did it take you to get through that Dark Knight line? I considered going to the park that day, but the weather report just scared me off. I'm thinking Wednesday or Thursday. -
^ Once again, the Big Mike Road Show thread becomes even more extensive. Way to go Mike. But, wait, wasn't Boulder Dash your first "Mountain Coaster?" I will probably be missing you at Dorney. That sucks. I went a few years ago for the event. There will be plenty of ERT for you. I wouldn't even be surprised if you get solo rides on many of the morning ERT coasters.

Great Adventure or Cedar point
Hercules replied to Sephiroth77's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Gemini > Rolling Thunder Raptor > B:TR Corkscrew > GASM Dare to challenge me further? ^ Yes. Gemini is a steel/wood hybrid. So it is technically not a wood. So.... Blue Streak vs. Roller Thunder would be more appropriate. And there is no need for a challenge. Once again, this is all opinion. -

I'm being civil. I'm just explaining a little deeping. So to sound like I was being mean or combative. -

I consider myself a Dorney fanboy just because I grew up at the place. I bash it just as much as the next person, but I still love the place for what it used to be, and what remains. But, there is a line between fanboy and just plain being a jerk. -

Hercules replied to Sephiroth77's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You just contradicted yourself. Everyone who sticks up for Cedar Point is a fanboy, and everyone who bashes Six Flags is a "Six Flags hater," clearly indicating that you think their opinions don't matter whatsoever because they are extremely biased. Yet in the next sentence you tell people that they should respect other opinions and accept the fact that people have different views than your own. That didn't make sense to me. I don't feel like I contradicted myself at all. I just get annoyed when people are jerks to others about their opinions. I don't respect people that consider their opinion to be fact, so I will discount their opinion. If you like Cedar Point, then great for you. Don't force it on people. Or, if you truly hate Six Flags, just don't go. You don't have to bash it, and then tell people that like the parks that they are morons. It's pretty simple. -

I, too, wasn't going to get involved in this just because it seems like a bunch of crying with Cedar Point fanboys defending the park and Six Flags haters bashing. I will say this though, it just depends on what you like. It is opinion, and if you can't get over the fact that someone has a different opinion than you, as long as they aren't hurting you or something else, then you have a problem. -
PTR: The Dark Knight Coaster Media Event
Hercules replied to FlyerACE1's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
They put it in a box to hide that fact that it is a mouse? Maybe they wanted a mouse coaster for the park (which I personally think is a good move, since just about the whole family can ride it, and that is what they are going towards these days) and spiced it up with some theming instead of having it just be a plain, boring mouse ride. The park needs a bigger mix of rides, rather than just the Kingda Ka's, Nitro's and El Toro's of the world. I have a feeling that people would be complaining if it wasn't "in a box" and was just a plain mouse coaster. You just can't please people if you are Six Flags. -

The description Six Flags gave it sure sounds like it should be a Disney Ride. "With The Dark Knight Coaster, guests experience the ride of their lives. Venturing through demented hallways of twists, turns and hallucinatory images, they are tormented by The Joker himself. Then as they set foot onto a distressed, vandalized train platform, they can only guess at what awaits them as they speed through six 180-degree hairpin turns, climb unseen hills, plunge into pitch darkness and dip into unforeseen danger. As they attempt to escape the terror, their only hope is that Gotham's Silent Guardian — Batman — can save them." I experienced nothing that is in that description while riding except speeding through the 6 hairpin turns. I didn't even see a Batman figure and had no idea what the other figures were supposed to be. I understand it's Six Flags, but they could have done a much better job. It is called marketing. They aren't going to say "Come ride our standard mouse with a little bit of theming!" They want to make it sound good so people come to the park to ride it. Some will be happy, some will not. That is how it goes with most rides anyway. -
Congratulations Stuart! I wish I was there this year. If everything went right, I would have been. Oh well, I guess we will have to wait until next year..... or the year after that....... whichever..... ^^ And yes, Arcadia is a pretty nice school. I could deal without a lot of the drama that is there - though I guess a lot of campuses have that kind of thing. But, if you want to be able to study abroad and travel the world really cheaply, that is the place to go for sure.

I did not see the pictures. But, I guess, from the sound of things, it was the right thing to delete them. I have taken the other ones as jokes, but you don't really want to cross the line Big Mike. ^ And I'm pretty sure Mike was kidding about being on a promotional adventure, so you don't have to worry about TPR taking a hit.

Yeah, we were in it together. And he got Mantis, and he did not want to work a stand up coaster. They are hard enough for the GP to ride, and it must be more stressful for the employees. Plus, he wasn't very pleased with how the management treated us. I totally would love to work at a park in Florida, but no parks offer a Summer College Program. Anyone near Orlando want to let me pay $31.30 a week to crash at their house to work at Universal? Do you need a summer college program though? Just apply as seasonal, get some friends together ahead of time, and find somewhere to rent. That could be a lot of fun for you guys. I'm not sure how much money you would make, but like you said, you just wanted to do the ride thing and have some fun. -

Nice job! Not a bad little drive at all. That is about how far I used to live from Dorney. -

^ That is what I was going to say. Just apply to Busch or Universal for next summer, find a few people to go with, and rent a place and split the rent. -

That is very admirable. I mean, if it is kind of like "your dream" thing to do just once, then I totally get it. I mean, my days of being able to do something that I want to do are far past, and I never got to do anything like that (let alone figured out what I would have wanted to do). Well, maybe you can find something next year and be able to do it. -

Now, why did you just want to get experience working a major coaster? Is there one in your area that you have an eye on and would like to have experience to get you leverage when you apply for the job? Or were you just looking for experience at a park, and just wanted to be at a big attraction? Just wondering. I mean, I know that you got screwed and everything and it is your decision to leave and all. -

That is true. I take back my statement. I'm spoiled by Great Adventure. -
um, no. That thread is asking "What car do you drive." And i dont drive the GTR. I wish i did. I actually did post in that mentioned thread. I understand. But, like Wes said, it was kind of getting away from the topic anyway.
