PETA to Ben & Jerry's: Make ice cream from human milk
Hercules replied to dandaman's topic in Random, Random, Random
Ok, now it's sounding passive/aggressive. You're an advocate against drinking milk and telling us all the reasons not to drink it, but you're not pushing it on anyone? I got that right, didn't I? Ok.... Anyway, I remember a fashion show where PETA protesters jumped on the runway to protest one of the models (I forgot her name). She proceeded to model the heck out of that garment in front of them, giving them "careless disregard" until security pulled them down. My friends and I saw it and we collectively said "Work b@tch." Terry Listen, just because I'm providing information doesn't mean that I'm pushing anything on anyone. Just because I'm giving different views and information doesn't mean that I'm trying to tell you to do one thing or the other. -
PETA to Ben & Jerry's: Make ice cream from human milk

Did I tell anyone not to drink milk? I was just going over what I have heard and what I believe. I wasn't pushing anything on anyone. Sure. There are plenty of companies that make that. But PETA was just trying to go for the shock factor and get into the papers. Asking them to make soy ice cream would have been more rational, but they wanted to get some press. Just makes them look like idiots, but they don't even see it. When my girlfriend worked there I remember visiting headquarters a couple of times, and they were so happy that they got press for so many stupid things. They actually thought it was a good thing. Morons. -

^ I am an advocate against cow's milk. There is research that suggests that it is not "good for you" and can actually decrease bone capacity. But I guess I'm "weird" or flat out wrong for thinking something that doesn't go with the majority. And PETA believes that even bad publicity is a good thing. They don't care as long as their name is out there. So technically this thread really is promoting them in their eyes. It is doing exactly what they want. -
Even the nationals? My girlfriend is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma and graduated from Ursinus College a few years ago. It is a very classy bunch of girls, and of course being a national sorority they are not allowed to haze. The same goes for their counterpart fraternity, the Skulls. Our good ole' boy president G.W. was a member. I agree on some levels as far as social Greek life goes. There needs to be more restrictions on a lot that goes on.

No. I know you were the one that posted it. If you are so sick of the publicity that they are generating from it, then why post it on here so it can get more attention? -

Why would you even post this then? It obviously got your attention. If you wanted them to go away, then you wouldn't have plastered it here. Doesn't make any sense to me. Seriously. I wish that PETA, and anything other animal rights organization would not do this kind of thing. It gives all vegetarians and animal rights people a horrible name. Sometimes I think a lot more people would be more willing to listen to what you have to say if you take a rational tone. I can see where they are coming from - trying to get publicity and getting attention with celebrities - however, not all publicity is good publicity. I'm sick of this PETA crap. I'm sick of the people that are sick of PETA. I'm sick of the world in general. -
This thread has trouble written all over it.

Jay, are you doubting the abilities of the LSHoF? Just a word to the wise, my friend....we overheard our next door neighbors doubting it last week too. What happened last night? Their first born went missing in the night. All that was heard in the distance was galloping......and slithering.....and fire.... I just lost my pen.... -

^ Thanks for clarifying that. I did not know that. Still, it is just an announcement. Wake me up when the ride actually opens up. -

^ I don't get it. It's not like the ride is going to be built by tomorrow. And unless you are a member of the press, I don't really think you would have been invited to the announcement. -
Correct, but, that is if the ride itself generates 500,000 extra guests. Say a park averages 3.5 million visitors a year. And let's say they add a new big attraction. If 4 million visitors go to the park that year, then the ride paid for itself in that year. Or, let's just say attendance increases by a steady 133,000 over the three years to get to 500,000 extra guests - then the ride would pay for itself in 3 years. Now, you have to figure in all of the extra overhead costs of electric, maintenance etc. I realize what you were doing with the simple math though. But, the only way I see a ride being worth it is if a ride brings in extra guests. Sometimes that just doesn't happen. Or, if it fulfills a need, like when Hercules was brought down and replaced by Hydra, or with The Dark Knight at Great Adventure. Sure, some of us might not think the rides are that great, but Hydra doesn't break ribs, and The Dark Knight is a fairly tame coaster that attracts a range of guests. I think both of those were good investments for the respective parks. Not to mention Dorney increased visitorship by over 200,000 in 2005 because of Hydra.

Yeah but there are a lot of things that point to a member of the Beast family. 1) In Kings Island's official website when you put the arrow on the wooden crate it shakes, (like some huge beast trying to get out). 2) The moving eye. 3) The people in the 3 short videos you can find by clicking on the box that shakes are obviously running from something and they seem to be as scared as the people in Blair Witch. I really didn't want to get involved too heavily in this nerdy, frantic, and often times fanboy-ish speculation, but, it cleary is not going to be another "Beast". What would it be? Grandson of Beast? 5th Cousin twice removed of Beast? They are just using the "Beast" thing as a marketing gimmick. The eye that is seen is something of a reptile. I would like to say that I will have to go with Wes' rendition as the most plausible at this point. -

I say they reuse the name Maverick, even though Cedar Point is right around the corner. -
Yeah. Too bad it doesn't "count". But apparently, "The curse is broken!"

I think they are just using the "Beast box". I don't think it really relates.
