  1. I will be at Canobie this Sunday, looking forward to some more Untamed! Do they still have a single rider line?
  2. ^ As with any coaster with block zones (station, lift, MCBRs, brakes) multiple cars on a lift are possible if the lead car can make it to the block zone before the following car on the lift makes it to the summit. If for some reason the car can't make it into the brake zone the lift won't allow the coaster to continue the course. This makes for faster dispatches and a quicker wait time. When I worked at DL's big thunder, I would dispatch as the train would go through "spiral butte", makes for perfectly spaced trains and a happy queue.
  3. I thought I would post some screenshots of Port Costa, my new ocean side resort/theme park featuring wild coasters, elaborate dark rides, and a beautiful boardwalk atmosphere. My first update will show the completion of several B&M coasters I have put in already, with several more to come. I will be working on the waterpark and water rides for the next update. Enjoy the pics! A view from the ocean, looking up at the boardwalk Riptide is the park's B&M Floorless coaster, featuring a camelback, zero-g roll, and a cobra roll over sea. In the background (purple track) we can see construction of Dynamo, a B&M Speedcoaster, Valkyrie is a flying terrain coaster. The castle contains a fully detailed dark ride. More on that later Valkyrie gliding overhead
  4. I've always known SFGADV as a park with a great selection of flats and coasters, a drop tower ride would make the variety even better. I think they have been due for a modern age drop tower for some time now, would love to see the Golden Kingdom expanded to include this rumored project. Imagine the views of the safari animals as you climb to the summit.
  5. Well, these type of coasters are known for their limb-chopper elements...
  6. I love the name "Valkeyrie", It would be perfect for a wing coaster. Pardon my little knowledge of Norse mythology but I believe a Valkeyrie is a warrior that rides a winged beast to harvest souls. The name is often affiliated with shrieking or screaming.
  7. I love showing up to the fairs and carnivals around here and being surprised by a new, insane flat ride. New this year at the Brockton Fair in Brockton, Mass. was the Stinger. I'm not sure who manufactures it but was kind of like an Evolution, except at the end the seats spun around freely. Happiness is... going to your local fair to find they've bought a new toy.
  8. I doubt we will ever see another standup coaster manufactured in this lifetime. I've got a good name for a wooden standup coaster, I can see it now... Coming this summer to Six Flags... The Sterilizer
  9. When I would go to Vegas I would usually have Speed The Ride all too myself. Also, every morning I would test ride Indiana Jones Adventure and BTMRR when I was a ride operator there. A show check is part of the preopening safety checklist, and to make sure all the sound and special effects were working properly. We do this alone to ensure the most quiet ride, so we can focus on the show elements as we go by them.
  10. Disneyland's Space Mountain is hands-down my favorite dark roller coaster. When they put on Ghost Galaxy it's even better! You've got to love the music!
  11. Is that a lighter in that evil tinkerbell's hand? Looks like her jealousy of Wendy finally got the best of her.
  12. ^ I agree Space Mountain at DL is up there on the list! Especially when Ghost Galaxy comes around and the ghost jumps at you after the photo spot. Bizarro at SFNE is another favorite of mine, those two bunny hills and the banked turn before the brake still have a ton of speed. Lamest ending would have to be Ninja at SFMM.
  13. I agree with Vin completely. SFNE <3's Goliath. I had ridden Deja Vu at SFMM, but in its new home in such a great location its certainly providing us with some eye candy and a great ride! Went today with my girl for Goliath preview, noticed the ride kept going down for maintenance so we started with Scream (25 min wait) They were running the old hellevator and one of the newer towers in space shot mode. I was surprised they did not let us choose the older tower, which we prefer, even when we asked nicely we got a rude "no." Bizarro (1 hr 20 min wait for row 1) What is it with this park and line cutting? SFNE is only second to GADV around here for massive groups just outright cutting the line even right in front of the fastpass attendant. There's an empty lifeguard chair to watch the queue, can we use it, please? SFNE was my homepark until I moved to California a while back. Since I am back home in RI, this was my first trip back to my beloved Six Flags New England. It was great to see all my old favorites again, I wasn't aware of many of the changes that happened while I was gone. Disappointed to see Nightwing gone, it was such a unique ride to this area, I believe there were only two in the world(Huss Fly Away). I don't quite get why this park has a deteriorating DC comics area and then puts two Batman themed rides in a random place at the end of the park, THEN builds up a bare-bones themed wild mouse themed to Batman back in the actual DC area. In a theme park... you're supposed to put the themed rides in their themed lands especially when one of these said designated lands already exists... Bizarro looks fantastic in the new colors IMO, I am not a fan of the name change and theme, however. Your average joe is not familiar with the Bizzaro character, he's got to be 99% less popular than Superman so I always thought it was kind of random. That being said, this coaster is a freakin' gem and it was good to get back in the front seat and grab that airtime. Wish I didn't have to deal with an hour and a half of watching groups of scumbags and gangster wannabes display their low class by cutting the entire queue, including the little kids. Shame on these people... really. Does anyone else agree that this DC area has absolutely seen better days? No more Batman show... No more Nightwing, and they seem to be filling in the gaps in this area by putting the joker outside on Nightwing's old spot, putting in the mouse coaster and putting a Batman logo on it... I think it would have been cool to rename SRoS to "Goliath" (Deja Vu should have kept its awesome name!!!) or an original name, put the rest of the DC stuff next to the Batman coaster, and retheme this area completely. That area where the Batman show used to be is prime theme park real estate, if you moved some rides around (mouse, joker to where Batman is) you could have room for a large new attraction that makes use of that nice hillside terrain. After going to the first DC land, we walked to the other side of the park to DC land #2 to ride Batman (45 min wait) I always thought this was a fun little coaster. It's gotten a bit of a rattle to it, it seems, but that zero-g roll is still awesome, and definitely worth what seemed like a long wait for it. We also rode Crime Wave, the wave swinger. I actually really love the way this flat ride is painted with the DC characters, it looks great, but I think if it were with its DC attraction friends it would get noticed and appreciated more. Before hitting Mind Eraser, we stopped at a little drink stand and met this sweet older lady named Barbara who was working there. Out of all the staff I saw that day, she was really outstanding. She offered us free water, gave friendly conversation, I wish they could clone her. One friendly theme park staff to me cancels out 10 lousy ones IMO, so hard to come by, I hope they are taking good care of her. Anyways, Mind Eraser (20 minute wait) actually seemed smoother to me! Speaking of smooth, the crew here was getting those trains out quick, nice job guys. We got our season passes processed and took a little cruise on the park's cute little skyride that takes you over to where Cyclone is. The skyride gives you an absolutely amazing, up-close view of Goliath, really gives another take on Goliath's massive presence. The coaster's new east coast home was a great choice on the midway and as Vin said, it's an eye-catcher and I think it is much more fun than the reeking brown pool of Shipwreck Falls. Rest In Pieces ol' stinky. Goliath is just an ominous sight to behold. At about 7 pm the sun casts its shadows all over the midway and it just begs to be ridden. Today was season passholder preview day, so we rode it today before it is consumed by the masses this summer. We waited close to an hour and a half for our ride. It broke down twice while we waited, smelled like burning tires... Again we were cut by dozens of lovelies even when the ride was broken down. This really sucks on a ride with one train and can make for an agonizing wait. The guests really are confused and hate the seating layout. I felt bad for the crew and the riders as they struggle with this oddly shaped train. It's not their fault the new train isn't ready and I was appreciative that we got to ride in the first place! It feels just like Deja Vu did, but looks incredible in it's new paint. Everyone who rode loved it and it will be a hit for years to come. I kind of think it's time to send Flashback away to a park that will love it. Where Goliath is placed in the park, it basically took any thunder the old girl had left in her. It's a bigger, better version, and it's nextdoor. Overall a fun day at the park, wish they would get that line cutting under a little more control. The park visually looked splendid, well-landscaped, and has a fine collection of coasters to boot. I am looking forward to trying Goliath with the new train, hope the rumors of yet another coaster at this park next year are true. Goliath is looking good, yeah? We like the Crime Wave swings Bizarro still owns the back of the park
  14. Any chance Goliath may be open on Saturday? I will be there regardless, hopefully it won't be super crowded.
  15. This project is absolutely awesome, are there any new photo updates?
  16. Beautiful pictures! I love when they acknowledge coaster's birthdays. When I worked at Disneyland on BTMRR, Tony Baxter (Imagineering legend) surprised us for Big Thunder's 30th anniversary and we had an epic cake shaped like the mountain. Wish I could put the pictures up but they were backstage and I have to respect the mouse. Anyways, before I get off track, X-Flight is looking great, will look even better when the grass goes in. The red and black paint really pop, and I'm digging the yellow and black caution colors on the choppers. I have a feeling either SFNE or GADV will have one of these wing coasters in the near future, a B&M fanboy like me can at least dream.
  17. You "heard" Orlando's Manta was crap? From who? That ride is fun, beautiful to watch, and has amazing landscaping and animal exhibits integrated with it. How can you call a full-sized, themed B&M crap compared to a smaller coaster that hasn't even opened yet?
  18. ^^ Everyone just wants it to be their home park... If they actually believe it, that's a different story. You can't expect everyone not to speculate when bright green B&M track shows up. It doesn't take much to think the coaster is going to your home park. The only qualifications are: Your home park has to not already have one (unless you're Canada's Wonderland ) There's over a thousand theme parks in the world and only 4 wingriders, lots of room for silly speculation but that's part of the fun. ^ I was under the assumption that this plant made nearly all modern-age B&Ms?
  19. So much exciting speculation for this mysterious green wingrider. I think there's a few things we can eliminate... I doubt very much this is for Heide Park. Teaser images seem to indicate that this coaster will be built in the Transylvania section and possibly themed to bats. I think the neon green color kills that pretty easily. Speaking of color, it doesn't necessarily mean the ride will be themed to the Joker, Green Lantern, or toxic waste... Raptor, Hydra, Kingda Ka, Deja Vu/Goliath are all nearly this same shade. It was mentioned before but I have to agree, Green Lantern was used heavily last season, and I think and I hope its time has passed, however, green track with black supports looks badass IMO, more please. It doesn't necessarily have to be Cedar Fair or Six Flags just because of the bright colors. If I had to lean one way I would think Six Flags would would be interested in purchasing multiple wing coasters if they kept with their traditional style of buying a prototype (X-Flight), measuring its hype before the first footer is poured may have shown them people are very excited about X-flight. I would anticipate B&M is going sell quite a few of these things for 2013 operations at theme parks around the world, this could be for anyone. When these new designs come out, you find them popping up usually spread far apart so they can be the only one in the area. I would think areas around Wild Eagle and X-Flight could be ruled out for the US. I think this would be built on the west coast, (Full Throttle rules out SFMM...) northeast or mid-south regions. Just because the plant is rolling out track right now doesn't say too much besides they possibly have a lot of orders to fill and are getting a jump-start on fabrication. That track may very well sit in a shipping container for quite sometime. Depending on how the track is loaded and transported will say more about where it's heading. I have heard two rumors of possible wing coaster installs. I am not one to really invest too much stock in rumors, and I know it's cliche to mention your homepark (see the last 7 pages), but when I shared these pictures on facebook, my friend had somewhat of a point in his response... Mike: "Yea right, well Coaster Con is being held @ SFNE for 2013, (was @ Dollywood this year), and that implies we are getting another coaster next year! IT better be NEW AND UNIQUE and preferably launched!" With me being local to SFNE is it too good to be true? Who knows, I can dream... And unlike Mike, I would be happy with an X-Flight clone but I think the more traditional design with the new car type (like Wild Eagle) would be preferable. I just wonder where they would put the thing... Some of us have heard GADV would remove Bizzaro for a Wing Coaster. To me it would be kind of silly to remove Bizarro. I don't really like the theme of the thing, but I know Six Flags is still doing its ride rotation program again. Six Flags in NJ practically has the whole B&M catalog and they get new B&Ms almost immediately after they come out (Green Lantern being the exception, but GADV did have a standup coaster before...) With the last two steel coasters being neon green I would find that rumor hard to believe, but I do enjoy it, and I go to GADV usually once a year so I would like this to be true. Wherever it goes, I'm sure its riders will be happy to have it, and I will do my best to track it down and ride it. Looking forward to more clues!
  20. A bat-themed wing rider would be sweet. Please please...
  21. Given Krake's success I wouldn't be surprised to see a new B&M design at the park, still a couple years away but how awesome would that be.
  22. I dont know what two of those words mean, I do not know much German. But doesn't that teaser say something along the lines of, "It is fast, and coming closer and closer and closer...." ?
  23. I can't believe how massive that piece of land looks. I haven't been on Jaws since I was a kid but I never remember it having a footprint like that. Wow. I'm not a Harry Potter fan at all but I welcome a new roller coaster anytime! The IOA Harry Potter section was cleary a huge success, overcrowded often, so this expansion seems very logical. I have seen some of the films but I don't recall a scene in a bank/vault.. What movie will the new coaster be themed after? I'd like to watch the scene in question to see what kind of show sets we might expect. Robb, I agree with your comment about hoping these attractions will "last" so to speak 10 years down the road. I imagine they will still be popular two decades from now, Jaws was still quite popular as an attraction and the film came out a long time ago. I saw Jaws part 1 maybe once, in bits and pieces and it was.. ok to me, maybe I would have appreciated it more when I was a kid. The ride, however, was awesome to me just for the sheer excitement and elaborate set design. I have a feeling the high-tech 3d dark ride and the indoor roller coaster they will build will still be wildly popular down the road, even if the next generation doesn't appreciate Potter the way kids do nowadays. I hope so anyways, I wish Universal all the luck in the world with this project, but I know they don't need it.
  24. ^Between the fast rate of construction and the reliability of the B&M product, I would imagine it would be running well before then. That turnaround is spectacular!
  25. I doubt they are testing the ride yet. The trains just very recently arrived and they are probably still doing ride envelope testing which can be a pretty lengthy process. I would imagine that as soon as the train makes the first test runs there will be videos all over the internet, if I were BGE I know I would be showing off my new toy the second it's ready to run.
