  1. Not much work done on the other models... Canobie-here's some recent shots of the SFNE model with the turf applied and some trees. Still needs a TON of work. You can also see that with my trip to SFMM in 2 weeks, I got a little ahead of myself and put 5 hours into a Tatsu model... Thanks to my g/f Ali for providing the awesome camera. Tatsu and others compared to a quarter. yes, they are quite small. Tatsu in a jungle of unfinished B&Ms. NO! I don't have that much free time on my hands, these things take a while to make. Wooo... rare TDS pins and Superman. Hasn't had much work since last year, but yeah...
  2. I also vote LC, and it's not my home park... SFNE has been pretty good at adding coasters, so that rules them out. LC needs a nice, large steel coaster w/inversions to match that awesome Boulder Dash they already have. Over the last couple seasons, workers at the park were talking about a 'water coaster' going in 2007, so if that's true... it's good enough for me.
  3. CP is an awesome park, one of my favorites... but I still prefer parks like IOA and the Disney parks. One thing CP has needed (and has been getting, thankfully!) is flat rides... and they've gotten two giant flats the past two seasons.
  4. Everest is pretty high up there. The Dollywood diving coaster looks like it will be themed pretty well.
  5. SFNE and Canobie are the closest parks to me, and they are a little more than 2 hrs away. Rhode Island has ZERO amusement/theme parks... I think one should be built in western RI near Coventry (where there's ALOT of open land right alongside rte. 95. Of course, if this "Utopia Studios" theme park comes through in Connecticutt that's only about an hour from my home, and that's enough to make me happy.
  6. A lot of spinning mice coasters I've been on pack a punch. Sometimes, even a ride like Pandemonium at SFNE (Gerstlauer spinner) gets spinning pretty good over the bunny hops at the end. Very cool forces.
  7. Flippy Trick, the DS Paris version of Tower Of Terror is a clone of DCA's version, it will even look the same when its finished. I guess that means it will also have the Twilight Zone theme unlike TDS's "Hightower" version of the attraction. See my "tower of terror variations" thread for recent construction photos on Paris' tower.
  8. Superman Ultimate Flight at GADV Not a very liked ride but I love it, especially the pretzel loop. Makes me even more excited for Tatsu in 2 weeks...
  9. Yeah, hopefully by adding family attractions (Cars/Turtle Twister) and the thrill ride (Tower Of Terror) the park can get back on its feet.
  10. Oh man, I've always wanted to do this after seeing similar stuff on TV. I'm sure Pigeon Forge won't be the only installation.
  11. Jarmor, the supplies I use are sturdy wire (which I paint) mounted on foam board. The grass is model railroad turf found in most hobby stores. I even cut the trains from sturdy wire. I've used different kinds of wire, all works pretty well, just as long as it holds it's shape. I'll take some close-up shots of Kraken's train but don't expect much detail. The models are very tiny and they look A LOT nicer from farther away. In about a week or so all of the models will be greatly improved, expecially the SheiKra model which is just hurtin' right now...
  12. God, can you imagine how horrible SOB will be in 10 years?!?! If it's still there!
  13. Well, that was stupid of the tour company. That's like the time I went on a chartered bus trip to GADV years ago (before I could drive!) and got into an arguement with the driver when he missed our exit and went the completely wrong way. Ya think a bus co. would know where they're going.
  14. http://www.towerstimes.co.uk/history/plans/woodie.htm There ya go. Hehe... "wood" have been nice...
  15. A lot of the major rides at the complex have single rider lines, which is a major benefit. Whenever I have to go to a park alone, I usually end up talking to people I don't know in the queue lines. I'm sure, you being from Australia, you'll have some interesting conversation for the yanks you'll be hanging around with. It's kind of cool because you can plan the day EXACTLY as you want to. Arrive when you want, ride what you want, leave when you want. Good luck to ya, enjoy the states.
  16. Was the west coast Kraken going to be a clone or a custom design? I never knew they attempted to put a B&M in San Diego.
  17. No idea... but if you're planning on visiting the park anymore this year, keep us posted!
  18. -Do they have anything to do with what's going on at BGE? -What are some concepts they've been working on?
  19. Yup, still working on it. I didn't like the way alot of the rides looked (Ferris Wheel, Nightwing) A lot of round-shaped rides. So they were removed. Thankfully the ferris wheel won't have to be replaced, but Nightwing is very hard to build, considering it's like less than half an inch. Once the model gets Catapult, SWF, and Pandemonium, and about 200 more trees, it'll be ready to go.
  20. Hey there, Seeing Jarmor's photos of his models made me want to post mine. Neither of these 5 are completed, they are actually about half done. The one closest to completion is Kraken, which still needs turf applied to it. SheiKra is the newest of these 5. I can never finish one before moving on with the next... When these are done, the next models will be Tatsu and California Screamin'. An overview of my little collection. The B&Ms, these are newer than the Intamin models. The modes are very small in scale, for example, Sheikra is about 4 inches tall. The Intamins. A Kingda Ka model was started but I should really finish these, only about half done... No detail in place yet.
  21. Sweet! I thought I was the only one here who scratch-built coaster models. I have 5 recreation models, and some secret ones in progress, an dof course my HUGE SFNE recreation which still needs some work. I'll post my photos in a seperate thread... Stay creative!
  22. I think we'll also see more lifts like California Screamin' where magnets bring the train up the hill slowly and smoothly. But yeah, I think traditional chain lifts will always be popular with speed/hyper/mega coasters as the anticipation to such a great height is a major part of the ride experience.
  23. Welcome aboard rekoaster. Always good to get these rare photos!
  24. Hello sfgoliath, The layout of Runaway Mtn. is nearly identical to a SDC Windstorm but the ride was built by Premier. RCDB says the ride is "inspired" by Windstorm-like designs. RCDB.com is the complete listing of all non-travelling coasters in the world. It will get you instant answer for questions like these. Hope this helps!
  25. Hopefully they'll at least put on some fog machines/lighting for volcanic effects.
