  1. Does anybody know when the Season Pass Portal is updated to the 2015 perks?
  2. Whether it was true or not, when Goliath opened they announced that it took the same amount of electricity to get a train up the lift as it does to power a single family home for a year.
  3. ^Vipers final season? Is it going somewhere?
  4. I don't think TC will run backwards ever, because as mentioned before, backwards Colossus was a gimmick to disperse crowds onto a ride that otherwise does not have a line (and for that matter, a whole corner of the park). If they were to do something simmilar in the future, it would be something like Revolution backwards, or Ninja or Goldrusher...if thats even possible. There is no need for an additional draw to something that will already likely be a draw in the first place.
  5. ^Those are definitely good points. I agree with what MrSum1 said though, I feel like it will have its moment in the spotlight for a good while, but the crowds will ultimately end up going to X2 as their first ride. Only time will tell!
  6. ^Well, no, my original point is that most of my GP friends specifically point out that they don't like airtime. I was wondering if this was a local trend or something bigger. It sounds like its more of a west coast thing, which from a marketing standpoint makes it no surprise that SFMM has more loops than any other park in the world...by far! The next closest US parks are Kings Island, Cedar Point, and Carowinds so the love of loops is certainly not just a Six Flags thing.
  7. ^That first Winter Coaster Solace is still regarded as one of my favorite nights of roller coaster riding ever.
  8. I'm curious as to what the GP reaction to Twisted Colossus is actually going to be. Over the years, I have brought many a GP friend of mine to the park and there is almost always an overwhelming simmilarity: They don't like 'that feeling you get on the drops.' They absolutely love all of the inversions and twists, which is why its no surprise that we have by far the most inversions of any park in the world. That being said, most are okay with Apocolypse, however it's very difficult to get them on Goliath, Lex Luthor, or Superman. Is this just a Southern California thing, or does the GP nationwide (or even worldwide?) actually prefer positive G's over negative G's? I know part of it is an actual fear of flying out, but it's just interesting to me that the one thing I and most enthusiasts look for is the one thing that repells (at least) the GP (that I bring to the park). Hopefully it will be a good intro to airtime and start a long needed transition here in Southern California. Either that, or it'll scare the hell out of them and always have a fairly doable line!
  9. ...which is why we all live as far away from New York as possible! And yes, even people that moved here from Alaska know that 48 in Cali is cold so the comparison to New York is totally unnecessary. Speaking of cold weather, I'm totally digging Colossus's 'shrinkage' hahahaha
  10. Superman at SFMM highest off the ground is: High Roller, formerly on top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas or, based on elevation: Medusa at Six Flags Mexico at elevation ~7500ft.
  11. In other news its great to hear that SFMM is consistently pulling in crowds...sounds like Holiday in the Park was a success for them!
  12. Me too, as I've always been fascinated with these as they are kind of a crossover of two activities I very much enjoy.
  13. The extremely vague description from the Subway employee makes it sound like the caribiner that connects from the harness to the rope may be the culprit. In that case, I feel there was a very good chance that the user was messing with it. If the 'thing it goes in to' is the part where the rope connects to the structure, then that sounds like worse news as far as the attraction is concerned. That being said, it's hard for me to speculate because I have not been on one of these amusement devices...I have only rock climbed and gone to rock gyms.
  14. ^Wishful thinking, I know, but is it still stopping the trains at the MCBR?
  15. Sad news, but almost seems inevitable with the rapid expansion of these ropes courses all over the world. I hope it was user error and not mechanical for the sake of the industry. Also, Florida.
  16. You should be going #1 or #2 before you enter the queue. If you leave the queue, you forefit your spot in the line, plain and simple. Wait till after the ride, or leave the line and start over again from the back!
  17. This has got to be the dumbest complaint about SFMM I think I have ever seen. And I've been reading this thread since day 1! SFMM has been improving their operations in nearly every way for the last couple of years. Perhaps its a good sign that we have resorted to complaining about SFMM's inability to control wind.
  18. LA Times article about the ramp re-alignment going on around the park. There is a good graphic showing where the changes are being made if you click the link: www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-adv-universal-city-ramp-20141221-story.html
  19. You have a wonderful P:TR going here. Thanks for the excellent read! Question: On the log flume at CGA, did they use both drops? I have yet to see a flume with the dual drops actually utilize both sides.
  20. I agree that they are becoming a thing of the past... But I REALLY like watching the totally non-pc cartoons while waiting in line at SFMM. It brings back quite a bit of nostalgia for me and it's also fun looking around at the other people reacting to it (like, "omg what the hell is this cartoon?!").
  21. Let's not stereotype. I am a "coaster enthusiast", and I have had nothing but a great time since I have got back in the groove, and became a season pass holder in April. I have been to SFMM about 10 times since then, and have had really great experiences each and every time. I think the naysayers are more vocal than folks like me. And I really think they get joy from bitching about Six Flags in general. It truly gets old....*sigh* If that's the case, I'm clearly not referring to you. I also consider myself an enthusiast, obviously, but I guess I still keep my park visits seldom enough to actually enjoy myself. With this thread in particular and many times just in general, I think enthusiasts tend to get entirely too nitpicky about little things. Like sweeping dirt or gum in a non accessable area. I can take a bunch of pictures at Disneyland and make it look like hell on earth but I choose not to because I choose to have a good time when I go to the parks. That's because I go to have a good time! SFMM has improved in HUGE ways the last few years and I hope the trend of improvement continues. I'm excited about the revitalization of the Colossus area of the park, and can't wait to see what they are doing in the future! AND I like Scream and Green Lantern!
  22. I swear the only people that have a bad time at SFMM are coaster 'enthusisasts.' You can see them walking around in their air of superiority, seeking out the next gravy buffet, sportin their oh-so-cool El Toro shirt.
  23. I tend to walk out of the park, wait for the parking lot shuttle, ride it to the appropriate stop, walk to my car, and drive home.
  24. Glad you enjoyed the park! The park went through a few years of questionable operations but for the last few years I feel like it's definitely been on the up and up. I was wondering if you like BBW more than Ninja because there is something after the 2nd lift on BBW? I have always felt that Ninja has a better sustained ride experience, but BBW is usually the winner when compared because it has a much better finale.
