  1. Any word on the status of Revolution, lately?
  2. I'd personally like to see a family attraction go into the KoD building before they build a large-scale thrill ride. And even then, I hope the ride is mostly outside of the park area. I think most can agree that the sea of supports that Silver Bullet created is not the most visually appealing thing on the planet.
  3. The clue clearly hints that they are building an Aquatrax. Duhh.
  4. The picture of Speed Monster with the tarp is cool, it makes it look like you can just reach out and touch the track from the escalator!
  5. The most annoying thing I deal with on a regular basis is Disneyland Annual Passholders that HAVE to chime into your conversation the second you talk about anything remotely Disney. They are usually 'fixing' your opinion or adding more information to what you were talking about than you care to discuss. Other than that, reading this thread makes me think it should be renamed to 'Theme Park Enthusiasts that need a new hobby.' Some of these lists people are posting are like, EXACTLY what the theme park experience is! Efficient ride ops and kids enjoying themselves on rides should not be 'annoying' to any of us. EDIT: Case and point below
  6. Mexico has its problems like any other country, but there are many wonderful places to visit and the people are really incredibly nice. In a weird way, I enjoy the fact that Mexico City and Guadalajara are kind of off of the map of American tourists. It's nice to explore the cities and not be surrounded by tourism gimmicks and white people. As far as safety goes, I know I've mentioned this before, but I feel safer and more secure in (the parts of) Mexico City (that I visited) than I do in Downtown Los Angeles, where I work. Bill, I like it too! However, based on my last few visits, it's proven to be a bit un-reliable as to having all of the rides operating...or even being open at all! I have never been in a scenario like the one I experienced. It was totally weird standing there watching confused families get turned away at the gate 3 hours before it was supposed to close. Who knows if it was even open earlier. Yet another moment where if I knew a little more Spanish, I might have been able to get an explanation. Oh well!
  7. ^I DID ride it on the TPR tour, so it's no longer a 'credit' as much as it's a 'coaster I really liked.' But nonetheless, now that it's become a game, I see no problem with stopping by La Feria each time I'm in Mexico City. It's pretty easy-ish to get to, and if it IS open, an unlimited ride admission is around US$15. Totally worth it.
  8. Says the guy that lives in Canada! LOL, but seriously, I those that I spoke to that had ridden both say the Mindbender is crazier. And Larry, you're right. It will make finally riding it that much better!!!!
  9. So I have gone back to Mexico City several times since the TPR tour, and each time I make an attempt to ride Montana Infinitum. The first time I ended up getting sick, the second time it wasn't running, and now I finally got another chance. Montana Infinitum was my favorite coaster of the Mexico Tour, it's an intense Schwarzkopf similar to the Mindbender in Canada (so I hear). Will the 3rd time be the charm? Let's go on an adventure and find out! We're also gonna visit Vive Latino, the big music festival that was the reason I visited this time. It's gonna be fun, read along! After a hearty lunch, it was time to work my way over to La Feria, by myself. I took a bus to this intersection that was REALLY close to the hotel we stayed at during the TPR tour. Just a short walk down this road here... Through this park....pleasant little walk albeit a little hot. After turning where the policia told me to turn, you had to cross the freeway. (Drop tower on the left of the freeway! Gratuitous 'I'm in Mexico! See the flag?' shot. Continue crossing the road. I see a coaster! I must be getting close! Keep an eye on your children on these bridges, one wrong step and they will DIE! Hooray! Cascabel! More Schwarzkopf awesomeness! Aaaand the reason I walked all this way. This ride has a loud lift hill, and it was completely silent. Oh no. And, this is where I learned that for reasons unknown, the park is not open. Website said it was open, other families were showing up. PARK NOT OPEN While I got some shots from outside of the park, this was an important reminder that Robb and Elissa work their asses off to get us on every coaster they possibly can on their tours. There were employees there, cleaning up, doin' their thing, but it was not meant to be. The ritual of stopping by La Feria to not ride Montana Infinitum continues. Got a cool shot of Raton Loco, though. And one more for good measure. This is from a bridge, obviously outside of the park. The bridge led to this bike path of perpetual doom. I couldn't escape it and it seemed to go on forever. Whatever, it's not like I have anything else to do! I eventually worked my way off the path, onto another bridge, and eventually back to where I was staying. The next day was the start of 4 days of music festival madness. It was mostly Latin bands (mostly rock) but there were also bands from other places around the world sprinkled in as well. Vive Latino XV!!! I made it! I'm here!!! I got really close for AFI. I'm so hardcore. This is a Mezcal popsicle. Mezcal is like a tequila but has more euphoric effects. So, yeah, this is a Popsicle that gets you drunk! They had these hammocks behind one of the stages. Pretty cool chill spot. Uh, so anyway, have I mentioned that this concert is MASSIVE? Like, craziest huge crowd I have ever been a part of. I really got a kick out of being able to drink alcohol anywhere you wanted instead of in a stupid beer garden. Right hand beer, left hand mezcal. Just a random shot of the stadium. This was the largest of 4 main stages. It rained in the afternoon on two of the days. This picture is from the second day of rain, where you can see I (and the crowd) were more prepared than the day before. This is a taco being prepared that had like 4 different meats and chicharrones in it and it was HEAVEN. To close out this update, and because TPR loves signs, I present you with this one. This is on the door to a tiny little elevator. Thanks for reading, TPR! Post yer comments if ya got em! Arcade Fire kicked all kinds of ass. The first day of rain, it also hailed on us. They stopped the show and we all took cover. Here is our wonderful 'under the palm tree' shelter. We all scrambled to buy these overpriced, mostly useless pieces of plastic. People would bounce in the air. It was really special for me to be there and basically awesome and I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!
  10. I love your trip reports, you're so happy!!!
  11. You mentioned not being able to find Disney, but it's actually in the very first picture you posted below the comment! I have outlined it for you here: (The yellow building is Disney, the one next to it is a hospital, and the rest of the prominent ones in the box are all studio buildings. And yes, the water tower has Mickey on it (but no 'Hollywood Studios Mickey Ears' lol). Farther to the right would be their animation building.
  12. Does Big Thunder Mountain Railroad count?
  13. ^ & ^^ For the record, I LOVED the "Acer" pic. This is an original part of TPR's charm, and it's sad seeing it getting attacked in every P:TR that goes there. Gravy!!!
  14. While I have never been there, I can see Holiday World being the proud opener of the USA's first Mega-Lite. Especially if Intamin offers some sort of incentive (as discussed with Arrow at KI) to stick with the company.
  15. This ride combined with Diamondback makes me think I need to work my way over to the Cincinnati area again. Bleh. Great report though! The park is looking fantastic! One thing I did notice in one of your first pictures was the huge, uninspired queue block. I don't understand why parks design these huge monotonous areas, and then put these lame triangular shades on top of them. They know how crazy hot it gets there in the summer, why not completely cover the queue????? Doesn't make sense to me at all.
  16. I don't think it has anything to do with cutting corners and has everything to do with encouraging the purchase of a refillable bottle. Many places are downsizing their soda portents lately to appease the whole 'soda is terrible for you' crowd. So, maybe a little of that, but probably more likely a way of making the 15 dollar bottle look like a better deal.
  17. Great report! I feel like it's more likely for me to go up to Oregon to check these parks out than actually visit some real parks on the East Coast. lol
  18. ^You do know why nobody has replied in 4 hours, right? I mean, you have to know.
  19. ^I agree that SOMETHING more should be added. California still has what...ZERO water coasters? You would think SFMM would jump on that opportunity being the (hashtag) thrill capitol of the world.
  20. ^ Do you ever have anything nice to say? Get's old. Anyway, I actually see that product being a huge success at SFMM, lots of gratuitous screamers up there!
  21. ^Even if SLC was on the 'west coast,' the coaster you are mentioning opened in 1932. "The Race Thru The Clouds" mentioned in this article opened in 1911, predating SLC's coaster by over 20 years.
  22. KCET article here Just thought TPR might enjoy this...at the very least you may enjoy learning about LONG GONE coasters including the first racer on the west coast.
  23. Can't wait to see your impressions of our cute little Disney parks
  24. I'd love to see this park at some point...but if I drive there I might as well make a road trip out of it and check out Silverwood as well!
