  1. That would be cool if the 2nd cycle was taken at a different speed than the first...whether its faster or slower I don't really think matters, but it would be cool if the experience is changed up a bit the second time around.
  2. Call me dumb, but I don't understand why a bigger project would take a longer time. Who would be stopping them from, you know, having a larger crew in order to get the work done? Seems like a simple solution.
  3. Pyro Colossus! SFMM loves their 'just add fire' formula!
  4. ^Guys, you are discussing a FOX NEWS article in a way that you actually expect FOX NEWS to present a valid and relevant story! Come on, now!
  5. I honestly have not even used any of the park perks, but the discount on a TPR trip alone is worth it. Plus, you can never get tired of the random (actual in the mail) goodies they send you throughout the year!
  6. Nice report! Can't wait to see more The cool part about going to California instead of Hawaii is that there are no coasters in Hawaii
  7. In a country where it seems every carnival ride runs 5-10 minute cycles, this comes totally expected. Sounds awesome!
  8. ^Not gonna lie, Laffy Taffy was the first thing to come to mind....maybe a Wonka acquisition is underway!
  9. I guess I'll just go ahead and say that I think the name is unique and different. I can see people saying 'hey lets go ride Laff Trakk next!' At least when you say it, it sounds correct
  10. I don't know, good question. I can say that both Giant Dippers in California run excellent for being 90ish years old...better than some other woodies in fact. So while technology may help roller coasters get smoother over time, we still have some classics to compare them to that are very smooth. I don't know if I made a point or not, but there it is.
  11. I wanted to echo that thought, this seems like a great opportunity to bring a fun house type interactive queue to the states. That being said, on my last visit, about a third of the effects were no longer working, and in the US, I can see a forced fun house situation turning into a 'my precious snowflake fell down' lawsuit scenario.
  12. ^That's kinda what I was saying with SFMM. Larry mentioned that parks NEEDED the flats when they opened. In the 1980's, and even the 90's, you did not have a bunch of parks with 10+ coasters in them; where as today, you do. Theme parks seem to be leaning more toward 'experiences' than one-off rides, which coasters, dark rides, and huge flats deliver.
  13. Ok, then we can make it GP friendly. "The David." lol
  14. The only name it can and should be changed to is David.
  15. To use SFMM as an example, I think the decreasing number of flats is justified based on the coaster count. As mentioned earlier, the park started out with 2 coasters, one of which being a kiddie. The flats needed to be there to keep people at the park for the whole day. These days? I can spend the whole day riding coasters and don't really need flat rides to compliment the coaster line-up. At ALL! If I want to ride flats, I can go to a local fair, the county fair, another local county fair, or a smaller park. I guess I should also mention that many FEC's in the area have flats as well....something that didn't really exist back when I was younger. The times have changed, and I agree with SFMM's plan to add more coasters and not really worry about flats. There are hardly lines for the existing ones anyway (sans the bumper cars), so they really have no motivation to build them. If a family works their way out to SFMM to ride roller coasters, I don't see them wasting any time on the Scrambler. Especially when I can ride a Scrambler at any number of less expensive or closer venues.
  16. Steel Dragon 2000 at Nagashima Spa Land? Maybe?
  17. That's quite the blanket statement, considering how highly regarded Insane is among enthusiasts. I get that not everybody likes it, but the whole TAER IT DOWN sentiment boggles me. I also don't understand how its any less kind on your manly bits than X2 or Riddler. Have never had a problem down there on GL.
  18. I don't see GL going anywhere either. It's a small footprint, its relatively new, and it is easily the MANLIEST coaster in the park. As I've said before, it's clearly not very popular here but I really love the thing. Reminds me of the elusive zippers at carnivals, and, maybe one day they can un-neuter it. Hey one can dream, right?
  19. ^Yes! I figured I'd drop the hint without actually dropping the hint
  20. The new lazer zone in Camp Snoopy sounds a lot like what they do at Hollywood Sports in Bellflower. Except there, it's with AirSoft guns. Been wanting to do that but I actually like the sound of the 'no pain' version Knotts is offering a whole lot more!
  21. ^Well, that's what you did, and you were wrong. It's Ocean Park, not Ocean Kingdom. Guess my coaster and it will be your turn soon enough! I'll add it to this page to make it easier:
  22. Ok, yeah it's a lot harder to draw these things than I thought! Here's an easy one:
