  1. As someone who is looking forward to the one opening up at SFGAm, is sounds if they did a pretty good job, honeslty i did have reservations when i was down there and saw the construction of ours so far. However, it looks like they did a good job, Do my eyes and ears deceive me? Are people complaining that it is too fast? All i ever hear about is asking why people hate trim brakes! Just teasing yall.
  2. That can only be described as one of the best on-ride photos ever!!!!!!!They really pulled it off well.
  3. I am just gonna have to vote for SFGam for the simple reason that if you are coming from the cities it is not too hard to hit up a few extra credits on the way. You got The Dells on the way with Mt Olympus and Timber falls as well as Little Amerikka just outside of Madison. All easy to get if you budget time and plan your route from the cities. Not to mention SFGam Stands pretty well on its own.
  4. the ragin cajun at SFGam. I just can't justify mystelf to wait an hour for a spinning mouse. i am still in pain from the last one.
  5. ^ my guess on the 60's style characters is that they are much more family friendly. Especially with the joker. Think about all of the frightened kids if they dressed him up like heath ledger in the Dark Knight As a park you want to excite the under 10 crowd not give them nightmares.
  6. in addition to the other page with the concept art this place had additional theming for the que and other updates including updated park map. http://rollercoasterfreak.com/2008_ACE_Events/No_Coaster_Con/05//
  7. They are definately working on Avatar tonight. It looks like they are placing on the chassi for the train. Then again it is hard to tell anything from the crappy webcam. [/img]
  8. Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at the Bay Beach Amusement Park, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. Official Park Website Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. Members of Green Bay's Park Committee heard a report this week from Schreiber/Anderson Associates, a Madison-based architectural company charged with designing upgrades at Bay Beach. The company based its design in part on input from citizens groups set up after Green Bay bought up the last of the 23 acres of land west of the existing park. "This is the culmination of what's been going on for at least the last 20 years of acquiring land," parks director Bill Landvatter said. Chris Thiel and Aaron Wiliams of Schreiber/ Anderson pitched a plan that includes the installation of four "featured attractions" — the roller coaster, Ferris wheel, a high-visibility tower ride that gives a view of the park and water, and a spray-and-play fountain. The plan would add five more rides to the existing seven "tot rides," and to add six rides to the five existing "family rides." The old Ferris wheel, bumper car building, giant slide, ponies and the train would remain, although the latter would have twice the ground to cover under the plan, which includes a second depot. The goal of the design was to keep the traditional look and feel of Bay Beach, so lawns, trees and other plantings would be expanded, Thiel said. "The character of this park now is a park," Thiel said. "It does not want to be Great America or Disneyland. It's Bay Beach. The picnic areas flow into the ride area, so we tried to maintain vegetation and add to that, and interweave the picnic areas into it." The plan includes a new parking lot on the far western edge of the park, a large multi-purpose lawn with adjoining park shelter, equipped with bathrooms, an expanded area for the rides, with pedestrian-friendly walkways, and a boardwalk running the length of the park. There also will be a trolley to transport people across the park. A series of buildings near the park's center could be used for concessions, arcades and gift shops, Thiel said. Additional shelters and maintenance buildings would allow the pavilion to be put to better use, and that includes using it for winter activities, he said. A grassy area behind the pavilion could serve as an outdoor amphitheater, and there's a plan for a viewing pier out into the bay behind that. Restoring the beach and building a walkway to Renard Isle also were in the plan, although Thiel acknowledged the environmental issues associated with the island, which has been a depository for polychlorinated biphenyls sediment dredged from the Fox River. "That's another discussion for another time," he said. Ideally, Landvatter would like to see Phase I of the improvement project started in 2009. That likely would include the installation of the wooden roller coaster to help increase revenue for continued development, Thiel said. Other aspects of the phase would be building some of the pedestrian paths, moving existing rides westward and putting in new plantings. The second phase would focus on the pavilion, main park entries, parking lot and the eastern half of the boardwalk. And the third phase would involve installation of new rides, the arcade buildings, a second train depot and work on most of the open spaces to the west of the ride area. The next step is to firm up the plan and present it to the City Council at its Jan. 29 meeting with some cost estimates of the phases. Schreiber/Anderson would incorporate any last-minute changes provided by the public or council and wrap the plan up for February or March, Landvatter said.
  9. So who thinks that they should throw some simulated beach underneath this? Glad to see the Track done! Can't wait to get out there to ride it. I am looking forward to trying out the eurofighter style. They have always intrigued me!
  10. So yeah, I worked at the Grand Floridian 2 years ago for the disney college program and was very familiar with the restaruant. IMO i believe that this is completely exceptable for this rule to be placed. After touring not only the formal dining room that has a very very quiet dark and intimate feeling as well as a show kitchen for one table, this is not exactly your basic dining experinence. This is more or less a once in a lifetime type formal dining experinance for most unless you fall into the uber rich tax bracket. I know at least when i was working there there was a 3 month waiting list just to get a reservation. Picture you and your wife or finance' or girlfriend spending an intimate dinner togethter and then all of a sudden you hear a winy eight year old at the table next to you mad cause they don't understand why they can't have a pizza instead of this hoity toyty food. From personal experiance most people that i saw that did go there for an eveing dinner usually got dinner for thier childern downstairs at the Gasparilla Grill and Games which is a Quick service food and Bev. Had their kids stay with the babysitting service at the resort and then went to dinner at V and A's. I think the media is gonna make a big deal out of a non-issue. just my 2 cents
  11. Looks like we are finally going vertical!!!!!!! I am definately glad to see how fast the progress is going. Yay for indoor theme parks! Especilaly compared to the lovely weather that is just outside. BOO SNOW!
  12. looks as if this will be simular if not the exact model as the Sting Ray at Noah's Ark http://www.noahsarkwaterpark.com/index_main.htm
  13. looks like Spongebob is making his first appearence at his ride! There is a banner that just went up. I will take it but i really can't wait to see the ride to start to be built.
  14. wow i am actually inpressed taht they only did go up a dollar. I am so used to large jumps that just push more and more parks just out of reach for a cuasual drive to. The one dollar is prob just to offset inflation. I be much more willing to pay full price to go to a CF park then pay the normal 55 dollar price at my home park of SFGam
  15. I attend the University of Wisconsin Green Bay (haha makes sense why i call my self uwgbdork) I Will be graduating this december with a Degree in Political Science and Public Administration. I came here because i have lived here all of my life and i can save some $ by living at home. I am also a graduate of the Disney College Program doing my tour of duty on the Fall advantage program of 2005
  16. i am a non-smoker. Just want to add that there really is nothing more repulsive to me than someone who is smoking. I am a manager at a Micky D's and one of my pet peeves is when i am giving a guest their order in the drive thru and the window opens and they blow a big cloud of smoke right in my face. Sometimes i just want to accidently drop theirfood out the window and miss their hand but never actually did it.
  17. me graduating from the Disney College Program in Dec 2005. I am trying to steal minnie from mickey lol.
  18. being from wisconsin i feel that this topic is my new home. I would have to suggest every single person to try a wisconsin delecacy we like to call the cheese curd. Basically it is one of the most amazing foods ever made. They were started as a product as cheese factory workers that were taking some of the infant morsals of cheddar cheese home for their kids. If you can ever get cheese curds on the day they were produced before they were ever refrigerated you will get a chance to experince freshness like you have never ever tasted. Trust me.
  19. I am gonna have to vote with the wilderness lodges tornado slide. If you ride it you will know what i mean. They have a few hundered feet or so before you drop into the main funnel part and you catch some major air and speed from it. More then the normal tornado. As for an over all park, i have been to quite a few but none compare to noah's ark in the dells. Close second to the Disney ones on the themeing side though
  20. I got stuck on Tower of Terror at MGM Studios. It was kinda sweet. IT was at the very end of the ride just before the elevator turns toward the exit. We sat there for like 15 min and eventually maitenance guys came and we had to evac out of a side pannel on the side of the car. It was pretty sweet. Most of the people got right back on because they told us we could ride again right away on the second tower for no wait.
  21. Ok so i found this post at SFGam World........ To me it seems official that the Theater is in fact officially going to meet its maker. "Danhockey04 Posted: Wed Oct 31, 2007 6:57 pm Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, now I can say it. All of the following rides will be removed and they have already been removed from the website. Deja Vu, Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Along with the departure of Theater Royale. " It seems to me that the familiar landscape that we are used to is going to be very very different next year
  22. I guess this begs the question to be asked. Are they making room for something big in 2009? Deja Vu is gone and Splashwater falls is closed...... I think it could be leading up to something good (B&M Dive Wink Wink) This has been roumored for awhile.
  23. Glad that i got on it earlyer this month. Yes capacity is bad and it was down a lot but i am sure gonna miss it. Just glad to have had the chance to ride it if only 3 times since it has sat there. As for roughness i don't think it was that bad. At the beginning of october i sat on the outside back row and only hit my head twice and it was at the same point on the first turn of the boomerand (and the second on the way back). R.I.P Deja Vu
  24. right now there are no official plans or announcements as to a specific type of coaster. Being that the park is run by the city they have not put out a press release as of yet. My guess is that they won't until some of the official plans are released. My guess from the article that was published in our campus newspaper, that the coaster would not be till at least 2009.
  25. What smokers do not realize is that to a non-smoker, there are few things that are more repulsive than walking past someone who is smoking whether it is outside in an open area or a 10 by 10 box. I went to SFGam a few weeks ago on a bus trip and we were warned right on the bus before going in. There was a security officer that got on our bus and made the trip organizers read a prepared statement of the zero-tolerance policy of ALL park rules that day and told us that a like 2 dozen people were ejected the day before. Smokers can be one of those things that can put a lasting negative impression on guests. I applaud Six Flags for trying to make an example of these people.
