  1. So I am going to go out on a limb to suggest a theory on the trims on bull. I personally think that the amount of breaking anyof us feels from one ride one day to the other is from the amount of wear on the brake pads themselves. The more the ride is run the more wear on the pads themselves. Since none of us truely no from one day to the other when they are rehabbed and replaced, this could easily account for the differences. I personally never thought they were that bad. I think the Trim on the first airtime hill actually causes you to get more airtime out of the hill becuase you do start coming out of your seat as of the break instead of at the top of the hill. Then again I could be just making it up, but it makes sense to me. On another note, from some photos on othersites, It appears shuttle itself has been removed from the SSA building. The building still stands but Stuff is definatley happening Here is the photo
  2. I definatly did not expect this pleasent surprise !!!!! It will be interesting to see where they put it in the park! Great move on six flags part. Now this is how to make a family attraction.
  3. Ok that pumpkin was wayyyy creepier in the video than the picture. One might say that it was more in depth!!! Great video Thanks for keeping us updated rob!!!!
  4. I would have to vote the most annoying thing ever is Teenagers standing in a big group whether in line or just in a group texting. Seriously, you are with actual people! Creating REAL experiences! leave your phone in the car. This peave is even worse for me in movie theaters but that is another story.
  5. I think everythink here excecpt that coaster at silver doller city would be considered a log flume. I was alway under the assumption that this would be considered a "water coaster" Even with the other examples such as Shiekra, Griffin, Matterhorn, Dimondback, are all Rollercoasters with a water element. But at their true base they are a straight up coaster.
  6. Your mom is satisfied with this in depth coverage Looks like some interesting stuff for the future! I am definatly happy the US's first aqualoop is only 3 hours from home!!!
  7. So does anyone get the feeling that there are a few voters are voting based on what they want to ride and not what they actually have??? Part of me wonders if some people are voting for coasters they think they have ridden but in all reality have just seen a pov. Just sayin. Here is my entire list of woodies. note that my absolute worst woodie has cracked my top 10 1 Rengade Valleyfair! 2 viper SFGam 3 Avalanche Timberfalls 4 american eagle SFGam 5 cyclops Mount Olympus 6 high roller Valleyfair! 7 pegasus Mount Olympus 8 Gwazi lion Busch Gardens-Tampa 8 Gwazi tiger Busch Gardens-Tampa
  8. I am proud to be a coaster dork!! When people ask me about it I simply reply: "Everyone is entitled to dork out about something. Mine happens to be Theme Parks" How dorky am I? Let me count the ways. 1. Took a tour of duty on the college program at Disney World. Nothing wrong with having no less than 8 major parks at my disposal for an entire semester of school and getting 12 college credits. 6 class credits 6 Internship. 2. My cube at work is littered with coaster porn and odds in ends. 3. I work as a dispatcher for a trucking company. When i send drivers for loads, I think about the parks they would be passing on their route. 4. Just this week I was bored before work, ( I work second shift and my fiance works during the day so we don't see each other during the day a couple days a week) I photoshoped together the google maps of SFGAm and the foot print of Chang to figure out where they might put it if the rumors are true that it is being put up there in 2011. 5. I take the time at midnight to make a post on TPR about how dorky I am 6. I convinced my fiance' to go to SFMM next year as we are planning our honeymoon out in in SoCAl next fall 7. Have the wall above my desk covered in park maps. Hail to all of our dorkiness!
  9. Was playing around with Bing maps and Google maps and put this together. I think it makes a lot of sense. There was a little difference as far as the angle of the picture on google but the image was clearer and much easier to clear up. Some of the supports especially on the lift hill are a little jaded to one side instead of the upside down centered v that it truly is. Just a little fuel for the fire. I think if this does happen too, I think HH will have a much more convenient entrance . Kinda makes sense to me
  10. Personally I am excited for this whether it happens or not. Nothing jacks up the offseason like a good roumor to discuss. As it is forcasted looks like 2011 is going to be a great coaster season! "New" coaster at our home park and "new" used unknown woodie still to speculated on not 2 miles from my door here in green bay. I am excited. Too bad it will be a year and a half before i can ride any of it! On another note as far as the above post from our new friend with poor grammer. I am going to go out on a limb and not only welcome him to the site but also believe him. If he is who he truly was that high up on the ladder with deja vu, he may not exaclty be the "forum gurus" that we are. I have definatly seen other forum rookies that when it comes down to it are just happy to get their points out there.
  11. What is interesting about this whole set up is that the city of green bay runs and owns the park so all improvements and funding comes from the city. So in this case it is the city who is excited about building it thrugh the system of beurocratic tape and convincing the general public that this is something worthwile. This is completely opposite of the whole idea that a company has to file permits and height variances. As far as ticked off neighbors i don't think that any of this would be a problem. The only houses near the area are ones that are right on the water but far away from all of the propsed additions. The area that they are looking to add to are the far opposite end of the park which currnetly are empty fields in the middle of an industrial area. I recently read an article after the initial interview this year that apperently the city may be in talks to recieve the actual coaster for free, only paying the cost the move and bringing it back up to code. I am definatley looking forward to some more info! www.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20091001/GPG0101/910010614/-1/archive Mayor Jim Schmitt, who attended the closed session, said after the meeting that there's a strong chance one of the owners would donate the ride to Green Bay. But he cautioned, "that isn't the big expense. It's the relocating, the engineering, the bringing it to code." Even a donated roller coaster could cost "more than hundreds of thousands of dollars," he said.
  12. I guess what y biggest question will be how much they are going to charge to ride. The Park works on a ticket system now. It is $.25 a ticket and most rides require 2 tickets. How awsome would it be to have a coaster 2 miles from my house that is less than a dollar a ride? Even if it is more than the "normal" 2 tickets. Well worth it if you ask me. It is alllll goood for me
  13. In the interview with the mayor, he is the one who mentioned the stats that include the fact that it "does not have an upside-down loop" You really have to take his stats with a grain of salt. He man not know the differnce between a height of 65 feet and a drop of 65 feet. I just think it is awsome that a public owned and run park is looking to add something as sweet as a coaster no matter how "family" it would be.
  14. News From last night from the local news! City Council approves the park to look for a roller coaster!!!!! From what it looks they are looking to buy a "classic coaster" aka used, and from specs shown looks like they are looking at a 65 foot tall one. www.fox11online.com/dpp/news/local_greenbay_coaster_one_step_closer_to_reality_20090930_rev1 I guess in this case the addage is true. One mans trash is another mans treasure!
  15. I can't help smile a little at the update that Chang is coming down for sure. As to my previous thoughts of a possible conversion of Iron Wolf, which i know a lot of people dismissed pretty fast with the heartline argument. I definatley See the point. However I don't know that this is 100% a problem as there is at least one example of running stand up/ sit down on the same track. www.rcdb.com/1219.htm?p=7262 Just some food for thought. Not only that the only inversions are a vertical loop and a corkscrew which i don't believe would be affected by the heartline. Doesn't that only really matter with a zero-g roll, or heartline roll?
  16. ^ i don't think they would actually convert Chang if SFGam would get it. My Reference to a conversion was to retrofit the existing Iron Wolf. I guess my question would be not to ask if they would convert it but why not. For one it is B&M track and right now it is using Intamin trains. Why would it not be possible to change the type of coaster when most b&m use the same gauge of track. As far as the chang replacement, according to the screamscape rumour they plan to expand the water park.
  17. I stop watching the fourms and screamscape for a couple days and this is what i come back to. When i first heard the initial screamscape theory i scoffed at it and to many parts i still do. I would, however, not be shocked at all if they did end up retiring the Wizzer. Brings a tear. I have ridden that one everytime I have been to the park since I was tall enough to get on. Living in Green Bay as a coaster enthusiast is a kinda tough. SFGam is the only park within a 3 hour radius with major coasters and I for one am getting bored with them. This year I have chosen not to go back there this year for more of the same. There has not been a new major draw in many years. When i went down there last year, usually by myself i took the time to listen and people watch and kinda get a feel for what people were looking for. MOST people that I could here were wondering when the next "BIG" coaster was going to be. Even the GP was realizing that the last high cap big ride installed was superman. I think people are also noticing the holes and the fact that the park has failed in some of the things that they have installed, ie Deja vu. I think this might be exactly what SF is thinking. The Wizzer has been on the chopping block before but was decided against when allegedly shockwave was discovered to have some major rehabing needed at due to cracks at the top of the first loop's track. I could very well seeing this same type of maintainence issue being the case with the Wizzer. It is one of the first coasters in the park. It is now the only one of its kind with the spiral lift, meaning every time there is a breakdown they have to have parts customly machined to replace them unlike ordering the parts from the manufactures. This is extremely expensive. It would be a double investment. Would fit the needs of "getting something new" as well as cut on upkeep. I think the worst part of the this scenario is that in order to install something on this foot print there are going to be a lot of trees cut off and that is something i always appreciated about the wizzer. Everything was well grown around it and really added atmosphere to the ride, unlike the clear cut sterile feeling of the entire footprint of superman. I also have a speculation for the future of Wolf. There has been some chatter of them planning to give it a coat of paint and add new trains. What if they plan to retrofit the existing coaster as a sit-down or better yet a floorless? Makes some sense. The coaster itself is rough because of the nature of your body position in the standing position. The coaster has fast back and forth transitions especially in the back half after the break run. Moving a person's center of gravity from a standing to a sitting position just may address the coasters head banging quality. Just some thoughts. Final thoughts part 2. Packers kicked the bears butt! well sorta
  18. Not that I am saying SFGam would ever end up with the headliner coaster from another park but i would not be surprised if they would throw in a new stand up. The park does have a history of repeating itself, especially in the coaster parts. Shockwave/Demon - Arrow Loopers, (granted shockwave was way larger) Dark Knight/ Ragin Cajun - yay for crappy mice Yankee Clipper/ Loggers run - you don't fool me with a boat vs log
  19. My Votes are for 1. Purple Pills - South Park 2. Jds03 - Yo Gabba Gabba Park 3. Smallish - Crying child
  20. So Yeah, My girlfriend was reading Cosmo magazine while we were both on the couch watching tv the other day and this ad popped up. I am just go as far as saying this is by far the best use of a Rollercoaster in advertising in the history of ads or rollercoasters! Although if actually built this would be torn down to the "head" trauma. Rollercoaster.....of love ...say what...ooo ooo ooo
  21. My girlfriend and I did that Moose Mulligans Adventure park and finished off absolutely ticked off. We had probably played about 30 games of mini-golf that summer and this was bar none the worst mini-golf we had ever played. We are like the people who never complain but we filled comment cards out that it was the most expensive and worst golf ever, don't waste your money!!!!!! Spend more time on coasters.
  22. Do you know what kind of element would be really cool on a flyer? I would like to see on a B&M flyer? I would like to see the opposite of the pretzel loop. On the way up to the top of the loop you could pull a fly to lie move and then have the train dive straight down and swoop close to the ground. Think of the signature loop on manhattan express much better engineered by the swiss, inverted for a flyer. Just a pipe dream.
  23. I am pretty sure that it is on the flash pass system, i remember with the initial blue prints showing the que that there was a side enterence for flash pass that goes along that bypasses to the preshow area.
