  1. Ha! A large Coke at Legoland Billund was somewhere in the neighborhood of $9 or $10. Yes, many TPR members paid that price (not me).
  2. I think that the Intamin drop tower at Gröna Lund was also converted from an observation tower.
  3. I don't think there's really any danger of that. Taking one food idea isn't going to turn a Six Flags park into Dollywood. I think they could have done better than skillet food. That stuff sits in there and gets overcooked and soggy. But it does look and sell well. /Foodie bigot, I know.
  4. Are you really going to spend 7 days at Universal? They're nice parks and all, but that seems like a whole lot of time to spend there. It looks like if you buy a multi day ticket, the days are valid for 13 days after the first day used. So, if you bought a 3-day ticket for $140, you could space those visits out over 5-7 days, or something, and throw other area attractions into this mix. Yes, this is a huge price increase, especially during a horrible economy. It almost seems like they've convinced themselves they opened a third gate. It'll be interesting to see how this works out for them.
  5. ^Kind of like how Six Flags took Geauga down by over expanding it. It might be difficult to come back from that. But it's also difficult to say whether or not the original concept would have remained relevant. People certainly have a lot of great options down there.
  6. ^But those off-the-beaten-path parks aren't anywhere near the largest collection of world class theme parks in the world. I think it is a problem for them. It's like Americana/LeSourdsville Lake losing out to Kings Island. All the locals wound up driving the extra distance to go to Kings Island. And Americana never had enough stuff to attract enough Cincy locals who were closer to Kings Island anyway. Have you been to any Legoland parks? They're not rinky dink operations. I wish they'd just man up and build a full scale Legoland in Orlando.
  7. ^If you're worried about Traveler's Diarrhea, you can take Pepto tablets prophylactically (2 tablets x 4 times per day) to possibly prevent getting infected. To me, this sounds like a serious pain, but it's probably less annoying than getting TD.
  8. ^Of course the dining plans aren't the cheapest way to go. That's not really what they're designed for.
  9. ^There's a spot on Balder where more than one TPR member hit their hands due to clearance issues during ERT last year. Not saying I know anything about the issue with MF, but just pointing out another major Intamin coaster that still has this problem to this very day.
  10. I think the Neverland Ranch site is a slam dunk for a successful tourist attraction. Everyone wants to see what kind of freaky stuff is in there. But to invest this kind of capital into one of America's worst cities. Well, let's just say I'll be surprised if this project ever gets into the late phases.
  11. They're investing $1 billion in Gary, Indiana???
  12. I've been on all of the B&M Megas except La Ronde Goliath and Hollywood Dream. I'm not sure I noticed a huge difference in airtime between the old and the new trains.
  13. 1) I'm jealous of the tacos. 2) I'm jealous of the tacos. 3) I'm jealous of the tacos. 4) I'm jealous of the tacos. 5) Did Lou make a deal with Satan to escape getting sun burned?
  14. Nobody seems to mind on Behemoth or Diamondback, which are both the most popular rides in their parks.
  15. The trims on GeForce won't be a problem late in the afternoon on a warm day. They're more of a problem when it's cold since they brake much harder then. GeForce is just like any other Intamin ride: It runs best warm.
  16. Compare the savage stapling you get on El Toro to the generous amount of room Liseberg gives you on Balder ON EVERY CYCLE and I think it's safe to say that America hates airtime.
  17. ^If you didn't like Bizarro, why would you expect to like GeForce and Dutch Goliath?
  18. ^That's correct. They just give you all the credits at once for everybody. They're not really "dinner" credits either. You can use them for sit down meals any time of the day. As for which restaurants are included, I haven't checked the list in a while. Almost all of the restaurants at WDW participate in the plan. You should just check the current list. When we went, the Paris restaurant at EPCOT was one of the few that was not on the plan.
  19. The two plans are actually *massively* different. The Deluxe Plan gives you three full meal credits per day, which means you could, in theory, do three table service meals per day. You can also use these credits for counter service meals, but this is kind of a waste. The standard Dining Plan gives you one table service meal and one counter service meal per day. Practically speaking, most people will not want to do three table service meals in a day. This would take up too much time and would likely be too much food for most people. However, what you can do with extra meal credits with the Deluxe Dining Plan is use them at the nicer WDW restaurants, which all require two meal credits anyway. So, with the Deluxe Dining Plan, you could do breakfast at Chef Mickey's and dinner at California Grill and only use one day's worth of credits. That would use three days worth of your sit down meal credits under the standard plan. Edit: The dining plan credits are actually allocated by number of package nights, not days. So, for Deluxe it's three table service meals + 2 snack credits per night you book your package for. This is still an insane amount of food.
  20. Well, it's Pittsburgh. So, it'll fit right in.
  21. I don't have high expectations for this ride. Though I will more than likely get out there sometime this year. I do expect it'll at least beat MF, which is a low bar for me.
  22. ^I think you'll really enjoy your "extra, extra, extra ride time" on GeForce. It's a great ride to marathon. I think I could sit on it all day and not get bored or want to get off. Insane brings "high forces" to a whole new level. I can't imagine what that ride would be like without the magnetic braking on the drops. I'm still a little bit scared of that ride. I can't think of any other coaster that's actually a bit scary except maybe carnie coasters, but that's fear through neglect not design. Also, I really liked the random nature of Insane; how it gave a completely different ride each cycle.
  23. Wow, nerd festival: 1. Tele2 Insane - #20 2. Expedition GeForce - #3 3. Bizarro - #1 4. Piraten - #6 5. Maverick - #17 6. Winjas - #46 7. Mindbender (SFOG) - #52 8. Nitro - #19 9. Goliath (SFOG) - #15 10. Dueling Dragons-Fire - #32 11. Dueling Dragons-Ice - #40 12. XCelerator - #38 (Everything higher than this was grouped.) I guess I don't have anything outlandish in my rankings. I think the most notable deficiency my steel ballot suffers from is that I haven't been on many of the very finest B&M inverts: Nemesis, Katun, and Pyrenees.
  24. ^Yeah, just the thought of driving on that stretch from I-40 to Pigeon Forge on 4th of July weekend makes me ill. I've had it take 2 hours just on a regular summer weekend.
