  1. ^See, I think Larry has a point there. It's a small park that has been Cedar Fairized into having ZERO small park charm. I like small parks, but not when they're run with a big park mentality. I think my view on Michigan's Adventure was severely harmed by the fact that I went to Indiana Beach, a really good small park, the next day.
  2. I find this situation very interesting. I'm not defending anyone here, but this illustrates the challenges of being a CEO. Jerry Yang of Yahoo got skinned and eaten alive for rejecting Microsoft's buy out offer because he thought it was too low. Mr. Yang was almost certainly wrong in this perception, but it was his honest opinion. Now Kinzel and Company are getting a beat down for going to the opposite way: Selling out too low.
  3. I'm watching CE13 right now. It's great! Everyone buy it.
  4. Swinger comes from a Greek word that means, "old, fat, and not attractive". I read Craigslist for laughs and one time I saw an ad for a supposed motel orgy where they explicitly stated that you must bring your own snacks. Snacks will not be provided! And I just thought that was ungenerous. Or maybe they had experience with fat, ACEr-like people in the past who ate all the Doritos, leaving the orgy organizers really hungry and really craving some Cool Ranch at the end of the event.
  5. ^Only if you get caught. Besides, they "fell'.
  6. Is there any cruise where you get to throw the idiots over the side and watch them drown? I'd pay a premium for that.
  7. ^It is an odd situation, but I'm not sure everyone is being truthful with what they say to the press. If Chang really did belong to the fair, why would they let Six Flags remove an asset that is worth millions of dollars? And if Chang did belong to the fair and Six Flags offered to expand the water park in trade for Chang, why wasn't that drawn up in agreement so that the fair would get the multi-million dollar asset back if Six Flags didn't keep their end of the deal? Also, if Six Flags paid for Chang, wouldn't they get some sort of amendment to the lease allowing them to keep it no matter what. The whole thing just seems weird.
  8. Knoebels is the one park that we have to visit every year. This video reminds me of how amazing it is. Thanks for posting this, Robb!
  9. How the @#$@# do you "steal" a roller coaster? Unless all the Kentucky stereotypes really are true, why would they let Six Flags move their property, especially something as valuable as a B&M coaster, out of the area? They wouldn't have. They would have gotten an injunction to stop the removal of the ride. I smell a douche here and I don't think it's Six Flags.
  10. ^ I agree that quality matters. It might explain why Disney succeeds in saturated theme park markets in Europe, Japan, and the US. The two black sheep of the Disney parks right now are the ones that were built on the cheap. However, "We're not going to attempt to grow" is not something that stockholders accept from a publicly-traded firm. The Shanghai area has a huge amount of people who have never seen anything like WDW. Assuming this project isn't dead, maybe Disney can succeed in yet another saturated market if they do this one right.
  11. ^How DARE you guys have fun on your own website?
  12. Holiday World markets so well in Louisville I remember being able to see a Voyage billboard from some of SFKK's rides. Clever!
  13. ^Yes, it needed Sean Connery. They should never make any Bond films without Sean Connery. The Breakfast at 10,000 feet is totally worth the price. If I had to choose between it and the other major attraction in the area (to be featured shortly), I'd choose the breakfast at the Piz Gloria.
  14. "Look, up in the sky!" "It's a bird!" "It's a plane!" "It's Crack Man!" "Yes it's Crack Man strange visitor from the planet Nola, who came to Kentucky with amazing financial powers far beyond those of Six Flags. And who, disguised as Danny Rogers, mild-mannered CEO for a great amusement park company, wages a never ending battle for truth and justice"
  15. Is that figure accurate? Wouldn't that make Happy Valley the most visited park in the world? Far and away over anything Disney has?
  16. You don't have to buy. They also rent. And people rich enough to live on that boat certainly could cruise on another boat if they wanted to.
  17. I suppose this should not come as a huge surprise, since everyone seemed to go to Kings Island and Holiday World instead. I am a little surprised that they are not at least keeping the water park though.
  18. ^Read: The price is not high for Japan. It is one of the most expensive countries in the world. People in Tokyo live in apartments small enough to make most New Yorkers feel claustrophobic. Actually, I think the price is very similar to what they charged way back in 2007, if you take out the Disney part.
  19. It looks like Brittany Murphy's name has been cleared by the coroner:
  20. I love coffee, but I do not drink it on a daily basis because it gives me the jitters. The best coffee I've had was in Rome at a cafe called Sant Eustachio. Utterly perfect cappuccino. Stateside, my favorite coffeehouse is Intelligentsia in Chicago.
  21. ^If you had the money, would you live on The World? It sounds like they would have sufficient facilities for you to still run TPR while living on the ship.
  22. Different people see value in different things. A great deal of the TPR Australia trip participants will have already done Asian parks; in many cases more than once. For those who want to see more of Australia, they can just add more time and do it on their own. I added three weeks of general sightseeing before the TPR Scandi trip last year. And, of course a longer trip is better, but you need to understand some realities about those employed in the US: 1) We get a LOT less vacation time than people in Australia do. My wife only gets two weeks of vacation per year. And that's for a government job! 2) Many employers don't allow "carrying over" of unused vacation days into the following calendar year. I think it's better to have a 2-week trip to Australia than none at all. I'm sure that longer is better, especially with the jet lag, but it's not always possible. When it comes down to it, you can make the same argument about almost any major vacation destination. You can't even come close to doing everything that Orlando, London, Paris, Rome, etc. has in 1-2 weeks. And, yet, millions of people visit these places annually, some for just a day or two, and generally have a great time doing so.
  23. You're going to some really crappy clubs full of meat heads and frat boys if this sort of behavior is normal.
  24. They have restaurants at Downtown Disney??? I thought it was just for free parking for the cheap asses.
