The Ultimate (at Lightwater Valley in England) has always been a one-of-a-kind ride for all the wrong reasons. Its well known for being a bit tame at parts and nearly ripping your head off at others, its also famous for being one of the worlds longest rollercoasters and also holding the record for two of the slowest lifts ever made. It's kind of a marmite coaster, you either love it or hate it. I'm in the group of people who loves it mainly because of the over-aggressive second half, it also happens to be the first large coaster I ever rode. I'd like to see what other people think of this ride, wether you love it or hate it. I would also like to know your thoughts on the rumor over it's departure if you have any. Note to moderators-If you feel this thread is to specific you may lock it if you wish. The Ultimate (photo from TPR's 2006 UK trip)

The first I posted was the first I made, but I didn't post it until I was satisfied with it. I thought it was a pretty good first attempt in my opinion. No photo unfortunatly but there is one in the link below if you scroll down, I also put a download on. Link Tempest.nltrack -

dr.gumbo replied to ArrowHater's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Thats the most important thing, I don't really care how good someone is at NoLimits only as long as they've put their best into it. And when they do they get better. A fantastic example of someone not doing this is 'coastb' and he still to this day makes worthless rides. -

I'm not gonna vote because just saying I don't like the ride is'nt going to help you improve, instead I'll give you this suggestion. This ride has great potential with that layout, what I suggest you do is practise more, create a few more rides and ride other peoples on this site and possibly others. Then you could re-visit this one and you'll be left with a fantastic ride, some of the problems include jerkyness and those extream forces but all can be improved when you get better. Keep practicing! -
Well...I'm not going to praise you because I know you've been making rides for a long time now and if you applied yourself you could have had the potential to be a fantastic NL designer. But because you've just been making rides that mean nothing to anyone, including yourself, you haven't really got any better at it. I suggest you try and make something a bit more daring such as a Re-creation of a coaster thats more than 20ft of the ground or making you're own ride without it being a death coaster. You really have potential, but instead you deside to clutter up the forum with things you did'nt really put much effort into it. I would love to see you make something bigger and better, I don't care if its poor and nor does anyone else. I just want to see you do your best, I can't ask for anymore!

[NL] Pirat´s Bay

That was brilliant. It was smooth, fun and good looking. I can't ask for much more! -
What was really mean, I would lash out at anyone who did that to me. I'm also 14 and I also want to become a attraction designer. Theres nothing wrong with having an dream and the only way to get what you want from life is by having a dream. Another thing, for a 14 year old this guy has fantastic ideas, the skill he has put into it is much more than you can expect from most people a good few years older than him so don't put him down. Besides, somebodys got to design rides in the future when the ones we have now are gone. Thats my way at looking at it.

^ Oops, I must have been too busy concentrating on how amazing your ride looks I completely missed it.

Words cannot describe how amazing this thing is, keep up the good work. (What 3d creator do you use if you mind me asking?)

That looks really fun, I could imagine going around those curves at over 100mph , it also seems to offer a longer ride time than than most record breakers too. -

Like what? Nemesis or Nemesis: Inferno? A B&M invert Air? A B&M flyer Hex? A vekoma Mad House Colossus? An Intamin 10 inversion Basically, almost all of their major additions over the past 15 years have been fairly standard production rides. They just have done a pretty good job of theming or presenting them in such a way that it's different than just plopping them down without any decoration at all. Other than Oblivion, I can't think of a single ride that Tussaud's built that was completely original. --Robb I agree with you there apart from one thing, their not just good at presenting there rides, there fantastic at it. All I'm saying is that their recent additions are'nt up to the same standards they once were. While Nemesis's inverted thing had been done before, they up there own little twist on the idea making something you will almost cetainly not see anywhere else in the world, the same went for some of their other rides. However, since the release of Air and Nemesis Inferno they've lost a bit of there creativity. Rides like Rita and Stealth are both rides that have been done before but they have'nt done much to make it their own. I have to admit though this ride is a big improvement, all I was really saying was I was a slight bit dissapointed that its a bit similar to Mystery Mine. (I don't know why I should be though, I'm not going to ride MM any time soon) Again, I do see what you mean. I'm not trying start a war of anything, my opinion is just as equal as anyone else's and I'm not trying to argue anyone down on theirs. -

I would of liked to see something much more original from Tussauds (or British Merlin). I liked the days when they used to bring out rides completly out of the ordinary. Your right Robb that most people would'nt have heard of the other two and that a beyond vertical drop would be the gimmick of the century but its just sad to see Tussauds inventive like they once were. Oh yes... those were the days. (I would of prefered to of seen a El loco to be honest, I know it might of been a controversial choice but at least its different) -
^ I don't know, I was impressed with the trains and its amazing you got the chance to do that (Infact I'm jealouse, I would love to get the chance to do that ) but I don't think it would be practical to put it on your suggested track. I mean like the forces generated by that heavy looking train would be mega, not only would it be extreamly painful but I also think it would not handle the forces, just look what X2 needs to support the train they carry. I personally think (I know its boring) should be put on a much more tamer track. But again, great trains.

Nothing short of astonishing, not only was it smooth but its amazing how you created a re-make of a ride that has'nt even been built yet. Well done! -
