  1. The MASSIVE lift motor on top of the lift just looks so wrong....
  2. The random zooming is actually a new Youtube feature that eliminates shaking. We've used it at work, and for general video, it's actually awesome. For coaster videos shot with hand-held cameras, not so much.
  3. I hope they didn't call that drink "Cactus juice". In a gay bar, it's like a long island iced tea with a bunch of crap in it. Agree that the park really NEEDS this ride. But watching the POV as an enthusiast, it just made me think, "ahh, another GCI POV that seems to look like every other GCI POV." It's like they're becoming the Vekoma of woodies. (Minus the pain, of course!)
  4. Every year, someone comes out with an epic trip report, and I think "Nobody will ever top this". And then somehow, every year, it's topped with awesomeness like this! WOW!
  5. In my mind, the most anticipated ride for 2013. I just don't see any other park coming up with anything more crazy. Granted, prefab wood technology has caught up to our expectations, but I personally thought inversions to be successfully installed on woodies with wood frames and wood track were still a couple years away. This really is a nice surprise! Cannot wait for the end result! Curious as to if they will use polyurethane wheels or not.
  6. Me too, these are both the only versions of such rides I've ever been on. (Never have been on any other trackless or ob-tower.)
  7. LOL, they had problems with the enterprise since I worked there in 1988! Would not be sad to see it go, I think these things have seen their prime. Would love to see something like... But we'll never see that at KW!
  8. Wow, that thing is huge for a mouse! One thing I did notice on the pictures, everything looks brand new except the transfer track (very last picture).
  9. I believe Arrow manufactured all of it's OTSR's to accommodate 48" or taller, as was stated in a roller coaster documentary about them in the 80's.
  10. I would think this is an insurance issue. All insurance varies drastically from one region to the next, that's why there is inconsistencies between parks and chains. Insurers have a big say in what parks must do when it comes to height restrictions and safety devices. Granted, it is the park that has a final say, but if an insurer says "add 2 inches to the height restriction to this ride and we'll drop your insurance rate by 20%", you best believe the park is going to do it, regardless what the manufacturer says the minimum height is.
  11. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I side with Six Flags for standing by their policy. Absolutely! He probably has a prosthetic, which would have been obvious to attentive ride operators.
  12. WOW! You guys are awesome! Tons of great opinions and materials for all sides!!!! (yay, nay, and neutral) Thanks so much for your help! I'll keep you up to date on the production of the piece.
  13. Hi everyone. I know I've been lurking as of late, (darn work...) but I've run across something that actually has to do with theme parks and social issues at work. I won't get into details of a boycott that is currently underway, so that you may remain objective, and I'm not here to try and make any statements. And if you know of any such boycotts, please keep them to yourself, this thread is not about that. My questions are mainly for people over the age of 18. (ie. the minimum age our newspaper is geared toward) If a parent company of a park did something that was extraordinarily controversial, or against something you were passionate about, publicized enough that there is a boycott called via an organization you support or agree with, would you avoid that park until the situation was rectified? This could be social, political, religious, anything important to you. Would you just visit another park/not make a park trip, or just continue to visit the park in question as an enthusiast? What I would find even more interesting, is how would R&E respond to this as a concierge. Would you avoid parks to avoid controversy? Thanks for your help! I will ask permission of any quotes I'd like to use before a final story is created.
  14. Reminds me of a modernized "West View Dips". Looks awesome!!!!!
  15. That's not spray-painted concrete. It's a grass seed that is sprayed on top of dirt. It grows into a mixed variety of wild grass...
  16. Most insane trip report that everyone has been hoping for! Totally following this! hehehehe
  17. My best friend is in the same part of the world as you guys, he just left Phucket, and headed to Chiang Mai. Cool that I'm seeing pictures from 2 completely different points of view at the same time.
  18. Didn't MontaƱa Rusa used to have REALLY old school trains? (ie. NAD rollingstocks)
  19. Not that I'm playing, but Upside down=south of the equator? That would be interesting since we don't get to see much of that. Especially if it were South America.
  20. Nice poll results. Love to see rides like Boulder Dash hold their own.
  21. So I'm a nerd! Support for both SOPA and PIPA are falling apart in both parties because of internet protest and bad press. Obama is choosing tech over entertainment as well. So it's just starting to look hopeful that these bills will not pass. And yes, the OATMEAL is the most awesome! (Opera on a jet ski with Jesus, LMAO!!!)
  22. Popular quote on Google+ today:
  23. I am in more danger, and in sheer terror, when taking a cab to Port Everglades, than getting on a ship.
  24. Hanno is a coaster-god! As usual, thanks for sharing your awesome pictures!
