EDIT: 2 Water Parks for Ottawa.
canadianfreak replied to canadianfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm hoping for one of their Rockets like Deluge. -
Ottawa Ontario, may be getting water park that is said to open June 2009. It will have their Tornado, bowls and pipeline slides. I get really excited when news like this pops up. People who live here know exactly how boring it can get. A water park would spruce the place up! http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/story.html?id=b5eb523b-3801-4b83-9aa4-3875f29d1f7a

Boomerang is always up and down, this year the chain on the second spike sounds kind of "funky". And they often run their coasters with only 1 train, even when it's very busy. Goliath and Vampire are often the only two with two trains running. It's been getting better over the years though. Slowly but surely. Their dispatch times are pretty slow on some rides though. And their flats are truly awesome, if only they had longer cycles!

2008 Park Trip Plans
canadianfreak replied to carolinacaniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Road trip! Start off at La Ronde, drive down to Canada's Wonderland, keep going to Darien Lake, keep going to Cedar Point, drive to Kings Island, over to Hershey or Dorney, then hit up SFNE and finally Great Escape. Doubt it'll be all in one trip. -
Possible amusement park for Ottawa
canadianfreak replied to canadianfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Thank you! Finally someone agrees with me. All we have in Ottawa is a few "fun parks" with no rides, based for kids 3-11. There is a waterpark but that is a 40 minute car drive out to a ski hill with waterslides down the hill. No buses go there and not many teenagers have cars so it's very hard to get to. A small amusement park would fit perfectly there. -
There is a Park in Ottawa, Ont. called Lansdowne Park. The park has a football stadium and a hockey arena right in the center of it. One of the stands of the stadium have stress cracks and need to be demolished. This has brought up the topic about redeveloping the whole park. The stadium and entire park is very under used, since the Ottawa Renegades (CFL) have been suspended indefinitely. The only major events that happen at the park are; hockey games, concerts, a farmers market, and the annual summer fair (SuperEx). The park is composed of 63 acres and half of it is parking lot. When I picked up the paper on Saturday (Oct.27), the front cover had a topic about the redevelopment of the park. "10 cool ideas for Lansdowne" was the title. The first idea was an amusement park, which is very cool . 9 other ideas that aren't as cool IMO, followed. I know this is probably not going to happen, because of our crummy city council. And it would be a very small park, but I'm sure a few coasters and a bunch of flats could fit in this space! http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/story.html?id=487e8017-cbb7-46ed-8d58-091b850343a8 Pictures from newspaper: Overview of the land the park sits on.

^ We have an annual fair now called SuperEx (used to be known as Central Canada Exhibition) but there is nothing Super about SuperEx. 10 years ago there was but not anymore. The SuperEx used to have really good flats like Chaos, Enterprises, Log flume, and a WildCat roller coaster. Now all we have are small rides. The only thing worth riding twice is the Zipper or Spinout. I went to the PNE before and had a blast!

For my first photo trip report I decided to make it as simple as possible. Place: Ikea parking lot in Ottawa Day: May 23, 2007 The fair had some spin n' puke rides at this fair like a Round up, Scrambler, Paratrooper, Octopus/Spider, Bumper cars. and a Rock-o-plane. It also had some rides for the kids : Giant berry ride, Elephant ride, merry-go-round, thats all that was worth even mentioning. Classic Amusements ran the fair and it runs every year for a few days, nothing has changed. The photos were taken while the fair was finished being set up. I ended going to it the next day when there was a humidex of 36C which is I think 96F. Wasted $20Cnd for 24 tickets going 4 tickets a ride, what a rip!! But it was still fun, anways photos. Feed back is very welcome!!! I need tips. Testing zoom in this shot, thats all. Hopefully it wasn't too bad! I see Ikea, best place to hang out IMO To give an idea on how it looked. Feet chopping!!! Hi-5 ferris wheel. Do not rock! Merry-go-round was no fun. Rock-o-plane and Giant berries. Paratrooper! the same guy that was running the Wave rider gave me a 5 min cycle! Too bad, it looked so fun!.. not really being 6'4 it would be impossible to sit properly. Layout of Go Gator, couldn't find a kid to steal. A credit! Go Gator! Canada's version of Mission Space. Octopus/Spider again with elephant ride. Octopus/Spider, creeped me out.. kept clanking. Wave rider/ Round up, when I went the next day the guy running it gave me a 7 minute cycle. Bumper cars and big berry ride, and outhouses!! Hi-5 ferris wheel I think their called. Getting to the fair Paratrooper over the hill

Last year my cousin was driving me to school, I was running late so we had to take the express way. Bad choice, we got stuck in a traffic jam on the outer lane near an onramp. We were completely stopped when all of a sudden WHAM! My seat comes off the track and I go flying into the dash. I broke my arm and strained my neck. It still hurts. But I missed 3 weeks of school.
