  1. LMAO! This just about made me piss myself laughing!
  2. For the sake of argument, how many of the former Paramount parks have received major(or minor) attractions in the years since the buyout? Not all of them have gotten something brand spanking new every year. Sure some of the fared better than others, but in the state of our economy I guess maybe they are trying to spend a little here and a little there. They keep saying future plans are in the works, and I for one am all about them waiting to see what is going to come out of the whole 49ers issue. I can understand them not wanting to spend a load of dough if they aren't sure what is going to happen. Maybe they will come out ahead in the end and be able to spend some of their cash for those upgrades everyone wants. Remember, we are not the bread and butter of the parks, we are but a small group of people who enjoy them. They earn their money from the GP with families who can only afford to spend what their paychecks allow, thus dictating what kind of ride improvement goes on. This also creates the issue with how much money they can spend on ride construction versus show upgrades. You can't put out 20 mil and not get it back in the first few months and expect to run a profitable park. Unloading problematic rides is not a bad thing either. When parks can't build because of space issues, what other option do they have. In the future CP is going to have to do the same thing because of the peninsula issue. People can sit here and moan and complain all they want, but do you really think CF cares a whole lot about what we have to say......maybe a little. Sorry for the rant, but pessimistic people piss me off.
  3. Great pics from the Ferris Wheel! I loved the comment about Hurler and Ricochet!!! Shockwave is definitely an under rated stand up, sure it may be rough if you don't know how to ride, but it has been there long enough for people to figure that much out. Grizzly at night is kinda like Beast at night, WAY more insane than daytime. Definitely love the horizon pics looking out towards the turn around on Rebel Yell now that the skyline has changed. Keep up the great reports and I love following this thread.
  4. Yeah, but with GL's matter, CF was trying to market 3 parks all within a few hours drive of each other. That was a very hard task to try to accomplish.
  5. http://www.cagreatamerica.com/news/detail.cfm?item_id=1069 I keep reading this thread and all I hear is nails in coffin, this is the end, the next Geauga Lake! No where in this statement does it say it is closing?? What it does say is that plans are underway for that location in the future.... glass half full I guess.
  6. If I am not mistaken, correct me if I am wrong, doesn't Busch Gardens in Williamsburg have a "capacity" where they will close the gates after so many tickets are processed? I really can't see paying a higher premium for crowded days when you are not going to be able to ride much anyhow. As others have said, I don't believe there is a park in the US that doesn't have some sort of coopun or whatnot off the listed price. I can't recall in the last 20 years ever paying window price for admission.
  7. ^ Getting to 200' isn't hard, they could just go the route of Farenheit....vertical lift. But, that brings up the point of having 2 of the same ride in the park. While I want to think it is Intamin, what about some of the other designers out there, such as the ones who built Skyrocket at Kennywood?
  8. ^ I kinda agree on this concept somewhat as B&M seems kinda "bulky" to be fitting in the planned area. I know they made Great Bear fit and whatnot, but could you imagine what it would look like with two of them down in this area? It would be the most clusterf%&ked mess going!
  9. ^ In that blog there is a video section with some nice animation of Cheetah Hunt. You have to watch about 1/3 of the way into it for it to start.
  10. I actually went to Magic World way back yonder when I was under 10. (That would've been over 20 years ago) There weren't any rides if I remember, just some kind of train that went along a rail like antique cars and went through a diorama type mountain.
  11. Repeat performer front of the line discount LMAO!!!!!
  12. How did you jump ahead of me, I still have 126 to go??
  13. Yeah, I jumped from over 300 all the way up to less than 200!!! YIPPEE
  14. For what it's worth, here is an aerial view rotting away.bmp
  15. It is finally nice to see more and more amazing coasters that don't try to break some kind of record such as height and loopiness. It should be all about the ride experience and this thing looks like it is truly going to deliver!
  16. It almost kinda reminds one of how the K'nex Coasters whip around the loop real fast with that crazy speed and then just dart to the next point. It all seems to happen so fast. It really does look amazing.
  17. Hell, that will fit right in with Lakemont's ghetto selection!! LMAO
  18. Now that's some serious ass haulin.... Oh the possibilities here in the states with some of the great terrain parks we have!!
  19. That set of brakes at the top of the tower, where they ever designed to hold the car there for a short time. My thinking is something like the impulse coasters do on their last run backwards. That would be sweet, stalling 400' in the air!
  20. I have been following Philrad's thread on his recent journey through PA. I have never been to Knoebel's even though it is fairly close. I am pasting the last post of ours here looking for any further help....... "The Cabins look pretty enticing. Is there much else to do in the general vicinity of the park that would warrant 2 - 3 days?" As far as families, Knoebels is in a pretty remote area so not too sure of other activities. We ended up going to a local golf course (Knoebels advertises one that they own as well) for a round in between the Knoebels visits, which was a lot of fun. But unless your whole family is into golfing, that might not work for you. The Susquehanna River is nearby and would probably offer some water-based activities. We drove down to Shamokin Dam one day expecting, well...a big dam. Even though it was a little unremarkable, there was a nice area of the Susquehanna that looked like it would be a nice area for boating. Perhaps some of the other readers might have some suggestions? I know there are some people on here that live fairly close to Elysburg. If you are only going for a couple days though...Knoebels probably has enough to offer to keep the family going with the pools, waterslides and (of course) the great rides!
  21. The answer would be C - Martika. fail yes, but Debbie Gibson was and still is pretty hawt. Trying to talk the family into a couple of days here this summer. The Cabins look pretty enticing. Is there much else to do in the general vicinity of the park that would warrant 2 - 3 days?
  22. For anyone who has ridden both, which ones is the better of the Grizzly's? GA or KD. GA's seems so long and drawn out while KD's seems to me to be more compact, although that 1st turn around is rather slow. I find that after that all hell breaks loose and it is a pretty awesome ride, especially at night.
  23. I am in total agreement Shane, but if I am not mistaken Kings Dominion removed the lid/shield later on and the ride still pretty much sucked.
  24. 2 hours to go and all these bastards are asleep again.........hopefully 3rd time is a charm!!! AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH Damn thing crashed again....
  25. Way back in time, in the early 80's, as a very young boy my dad drug me on the Loch Ness Monster. I was shittin my pants, and shakin when I got off that thing. I vowed never to ride another coaster in my life and pretty much fulfilled that promise the rest of the day. I was afraid to get on anything else because of that feeling I got when we shot down the first drop. I think that was also my first foray into airtime. Now mind you I was under the age of 10 and I really don't think they measured anyone back then because I swear I was going to fly right out of the seat! Little did I know that the next summer no one could get me off of these things! Now I have a 9 year old son of my own and am patiently trying to get him up to the big boy stage of coastering. Spinning Mice will do just fine for him, but he says this summer he is going to ride the big ones.......we shall see....
