New theme park for Turkey, Ankapark.
A.J. replied to _koppen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So now two Intamin ten-inversion coasters will sit abandoned, this one and the one at Hopi Hari. I mean, Intamin probably already made the money from selling them, but still... -

They've been using that image on all sorts of media, including a few particularly distracting roadside billboards. -
Hey everyone, I'm very well-versed in the mid-atlantic parks, but I'm not going to be living in the mid-atlantic for at least a few years coming soon. I'm driving to eastern Georgia to go back to school! I'm driving as opposed to flying because I have a lot of stuff to haul, and I'll need my car to commute to classes. So, to keep me sane, I'm going to be splitting my drive from Pennsylvania to Georgia up into at least a few days, with park visits in between. Target timeframe is Labor Day week (NOT weekend), September 7 through 11. Target parks are Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Dollywood and Six Flags Over Georgia. What I'm looking for here is to get the -best- visit, or visits. I'm willing to skip going to a park solely for their headlining coaster (Intimidator 305, Fury 325, etc) to get a better overall visit at another park. This isn't a "get all the credits" trip. I want to take it at least -somewhat- easy! I'm still not sure if I want to do two parks, because I don't have a whole lot of money. If I were to do two, it would likely be Kings Dominion and either Carowinds or Dollywood. If I were to do one, I would just stay overnight somewhere either the day after doing Kings Dominion, or the day before Carowinds or Dollywood. Kings Dominion is the only park that's right on the fastest route, twelve hours non-stop. Carowinds adds a negligible amount of time. Dollywood and Six Flags Over Georgia add four hours. The extra time isn't a huge deal because, again, I'd stay somewhere overnight in between. I'd really love to go to Dollywood because it seems like it's my kind of theme park, but if taking the detour doesn't make sense, I'm willing to skip it for now. Kings Dominion has Intimidator 305 and a bunch of other "pretty decent" coasters. Carowinds' selection seems kind of "okay" with the exception of Fury 325 and After Burn. Six Flags over Georgia's selection looks "good". What do you think? One park or two? My budget is kind of tight but this might be the only time I get to seriously visit the parks on this side of the United States for a while.

I think it's called "Windstarz", and it's a larger version of their Magic Bikes kids' ride. Luna Park is turning into a sort of "test bed" for all of Zamperla's new stuff. Their website says that they have something called "Endeavor" coming soon, classified as a "high thrill ride" like Power Surge and Luna 360. EDIT: Here it is. Looks like an Enterprise but with suspended seats. It's in the place of their Screamin' Swing. They're really purging the place of anything that isn't a Zamperla ride.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
A.J. replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, to my understanding, it comes down to guest appeal, initial and long-term costs to the park, and how long it will take to get the return on investment. When you have a big park like your typical Magic Mountain that needs to keep buzz going to stay relevant, you need a terrifying-looking roller coaster or attraction that has appeal to the people watching and the kind of ride experience that gives riders a reason to brag to their friends later. Smaller, more focused parks like Knoebels could definitely pull off a Mega Lite or a coaster like it because they have a loyal fanbase who come to the park anyway regardless of what kind of attraction (if any) they decide to install that year. I mean, all three of those are the largest coasters in their respective parks. Intimidator and Fury joined an "elite" group of coasters that used to only include Millennium Force, so there's the marketing and bragging tool (OMFG 300 FEET TALL!!!!1!). Skyrush is slightly gimmicky but you can see the darned thing from a very large radius around the park. They're three very intense and / or aggressive coasters that likely only exist in their current forms because they're marketable. -

Skyrush's track is considerably wider and bulkier than "standard" Intamin track. I wouldn't expect anything but regular-style trains on Taron, though as usual anything can happen. -

Ah, good old NoLimits 1. Takes me back. I understand that Rocky Mountain is working with the old ride's footprint which is fine, but the whole thing looks like it just meanders about. It looks like it will have a mix of more sustained airtime hills as well as the quick jerks that Wicked Cyclone has. Pretty fun! -

White Lightning and Freedom Flyer aren't really that tall. There are plenty of shuttle and continuous-circuit coasters with short-ish ride experiences that would fit the bill like a Euro Fighter, El Loco, or even a Vekoma Boomerang. -
Just post it, but remember to read the rules threads. Start a new thread when you're comfortable enough sharing.

The tall purple one is fun, but it's over too quickly. The spiral isn't too intense but the slide is completely dark. -

That's fine, but please follow thread naming conventions and use [youtu_be] tags for your video links. Also, give us at least some description of what your video is about as opposed to just plopping it down in your post. -

That depends. Did you make this? Is it a park? Is it a trailer? -

In all seriousness, wasn't there a time where it was actually in a lot of peoples' top ten wooden coasters? -
Hey everyone, for those of you with Wii Us and Splatoon, they're running a Theme Park Review-appropriate Splatfest event this weekend. It's roller coasters on the green team and water slides on the purple team!
