  1. California Screamin's / Incredicoaster's camera is near the end of the layout, inside the lower spiral. I'm not familiar with whether or not it's being changed as part of the renovation, but I would assume that it won't be.
  2. My goodness, that might be my favorite color scheme I've ever seen on a coaster! I'm also looking forward to seeing how Toverland continues to flesh out its children's / family offerings too as the years go on. Hopefully I get to work on a European park project / for a European client someday. That's the new dream.
  3. ...no they wouldn't. (I'm pretty sure you're just joking, but still)
  4. Good on Europa Park, trying to get the attractions back up and running right away. There's something to be said about a park that is willing to take the hit so that their guests will continue to have good experiences, even after the fire.
  5. I suspect that the front also car acts as the pilot / trailer / zero car a la Millennium Flyer / Timberliner, because the back single-row cars only have one set of wheels. It looks super-weird but it means that they don't have to waste a whole row in the front.
  6. Normally I'd agree with you, but those sorts of infractions are on pretty much every attraction, according to that audit. A lack of adequate safety signage, a lack of reference manuals for the slides, a lack of documented training and communication procedures, no available inspection reports... Apparently they haven't been doing the proper parts replacement / upkeep for their Soaring Eagle zip line either.
  7. Just now catching up with this. Thank goodness no one was seriously hurt. Attractions can be replaced, people can't be. It'll take a few years, but I'd also bet that the area will be back to normal, if not better than it was, soon.
  8. I'm not even sure that Universal's figures are a good comparison considering that they invested into what would become one of the biggest I.P.s in theme park history starting a few years after 2008.
  9. In case you haven't been seeing Wiegand's video that has been making the rounds... It lives!
  10. I feel like here in the US, everything has to be an "event" or the hype just dries up. There always has to be a sense of something special happening, or some reason (such as news anchors freaking out riding a roller coaster because OH-EM-GEE I'M SCARED OF ROLLER COASTERS but they sent me here anyway) to get people interested in or excited about something. Today's social sharing culture in the US just emphasizes that - whether it's some random travel blog, or Theme Park Review itself (I mean this lovingly), "would you ride this"-type videos get around, and being able to drop a video of a rider cam or on-ride video the day a roller coaster opens is essentially prime time for that sort of thing.
  11. Respectfully, if you get called out about sh--posting on a subreddit where sh--posting about roller coasters is exactly what you're supposed to do, you're doing it wrong.
  12. Reliability, no doubt. Obviously, it's so that the Intamin Cable can't claim another victim.
  13. I do not, and would not ever consider Lagoon to be a theme park. That's not a bad thing, mind you. Certain amusement parks are better than certain theme parks. I will be surprised if there ends ever up being legitimate competition between Lagoon and Evermore. They may be in the same general area (either side of Salt Lake City), but in my opinion they couldn't be more different compared to each other.
  14. The data isn't false, but it may be inaccurate. They're not out to favor certain parks over the others. When an operator doesn't share their information, AECOM and the TEA have to estimate. Their methodology for their attendance estimations is detailed in the Frequently Asked Questions section at the end.
  15. The TEA and AECOM have released the 2017 annual attendance report and Theme Index! Click HERE to check it out! Now, discuss! More images from the release will be coming shortly. Top 25 Amusement / Theme Parks Worldwide
  16. I know that the Dark Knight coasters are pretty well-themed for indoor wild mouse coasters but man, that show building looks more out-of-place than Verbolten's.
  17. Eh, I would buy it only if it were a shooting or otherwise interactive dark ride. Most ride-through dark rides are very "passive" in that a story is being told to guests without them being able to do anything about it - like a moving film or just being dragged along for the ride. Evermore as a development seems to be "active" in that guests take part in the story and have some ability to shape their own experiences.
  18. Why does it need rides? It's basically an immersive, interactive walk through experience. Escape rooms, virtual reality experiences, immersive theater productions, and permanent haunts have been pretty successful in the theme park industry as of late. It's not like Evermore is some crazy-huge destination theme park. Compared to Disney parks, Europa Park, and the like, it's bite-sized. Their team seems to be targeting the "repeat visitors" demographic with the varied selection of rotating events and parties. Considering that there's a Void location right next door that has been pretty successful in its own right, I think that the Evermore team is making the right moves. Obviously Evermore's success is to be determined, but I would love to see more tiny parks / family entertainment center style parks that are on the level of immersion and story set by destination theme parks. Heck, I would love even more for the definition of a "family entertainment center" to go beyond "a typical arcade / go-karts / few rides setup".
  19. Hey, look at that, someone is actually making some sense! Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion are different. While the parks share a physical demographic, their clientele are different. Kings Dominion is an exciting coaster park with a few hotels scattered throughout the immediate area. Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a landscaped theme park, in an already tourism-friendly area, that just so happens to have a few really good coasters in it. Kings Dominion has the better coasters, for sure, but it can't match the selection of shows, good food, and beautiful vistas that Busch Gardens provides. Are we really so spoiled that a park is "losing ground" only because they haven't one-upped another park in the past few years? There's something to be said about a slow and steady business model. Does anyone realize that Busch Gardens had literally no new "headlining" coaster additions for eight years (Apollo's Chariot to Griffon)? In fact, the only other major new attractions that I can recall happening in that period were the Ireland renovation in 2001 and Curse of DarKastle in 2005. In my opinion, a park doesn't have to continually one-up themselves or their competitors to continue to grow - they just have to keep delivering a great experience.
  20. It should be noted that Huss continues to sell both the classic / fair style model and the suspended model brand new, so it's not like a lack of parts availability would cause a Top Spin to be removed.
  21. True, but this means that we will inevitably see a "game of the year" edition with all the downloadable content (which you know is coming) for the same price as the original game.
  22. White Lightning, yesterday (Saturday). Love that thing.
  23. The ideal situation for a mid-course brake (IMO) is for a train to be going slow enough through the section that it can comfortably come to a complete stop if necessary, and also slow enough that it doesn't have to engage as a trim brake under normal circumstances. (Had a bunch of stealth edits there to get my words straight)
  24. Following the tradition of the park sticking to their guns and getting a ride open, eventually, by any means necessary, Over The Top has opened. [fbvideonew] [/fbvideonew]
  25. No, it did not. If it would have had enough riders, it would have been the #1 Sckwarzkopf (Mindbender at 48, Olympia Looping at 58).
