  1. Batman geeks will note the slight continuity error on the marketing material...
  2. They've got a Flying Skooters (Flyers) that is probably the best of its kind, and a squirrel cages ride (Looper) that's likely the ONLY one if its kind not traveling in some sketchy carnival. They also have some classics like a Roll-O-Plane (Satellite) and some rarer modern rides (Downdraft).
  3. I'm fairly certain that I would still prefer riding Apollo's Chariot than Tempesto. There's nothing wrong with Tempesto, but it's just not my kind of coaster.
  4. The test car is a train chassis with heavy I-beams mounted on top instead of seats and restraints.
  5. Impulse test run video! [fbvideo] [/fbvideo] I'm willing to give Knoebels the benefit of the doubt here due to A) the test car just barely crawling over the top (it will probably be going faster when it opens) and B) an unstable camera mount.
  6. This is just personal opinion, but accommodating for guests with disabilities never becomes ridiculous. I'm not saying that every roller coaster in the world should be retrofitted with shoulder harnesses to accommodate the disabled, but if a park wants to make sure that someone with a physical disability won't get left behind as their friends and family go ride the park's exhilarating new roller coaster, I say let them go for it. I'm willing to be a little less comfortable during a ride that lasts less than two minutes if it meant more people could experience it with me.
  7. It's a pretty tricky situation. Normal shoulder harnesses wouldn't work on those Premier trains. You have to have the shin bar so you can't move your feet forward - the cars have completely open fronts, like the cars on Rocky Mountain coasters, and the back of car 1 / front of car 2 look like they get pretty close to each other during tight inversions and turns. Also, the bit that's on the very front of the train (like where Kennywood has the Sky Rocket logo) is merely bolted on - both cars are the same and look like they can be switched around if necessary. I'm pretty sure that the only way to fit a "horse collar" harness is to redesign the entire train. EDIT: Example. It might just be the photo, but look how close the cars are to each other!
  8. It's not a matter of if electric cars become mainstream enough to warrant the stations, it's a matter of when. Right now electric cars are popular in dense cities like New York and Los Angeles, so it's necessary for theme parks within close quarters of those cities to accommodate for electric cars. However, like I stated before, because not everyone is a Tesla Model S owner, charging stations wouldn't be appropriate for a park that you have to drive 40+ miles out of your way to get to.
  9. Great! Don't start a thread until then. Locked!
  10. Oh sure, I've never been on Wicked so I have little idea of what the experience is really like. I don't know why, I guess that it's somewhat of a pet peeve. I'm around 5 feet 11 inches tall and my toes just barely touch the floor on B&M mega coasters, which drives me nuts because I can't lay my entire foot flat like on, well, pretty much every other coaster. I want to rest my feet somewhere so I try and place them on the big lap restraint anchor in front of me but I always fail because, again, I can't reach completely.
  11. I really don't like how the riders' feet don't appear to completely touch the floor.
  12. Sounds like one of these - www.soaringeagleziplines.com
  13. They could simply call it "Walt Disney Studios" like the Paris park.
  14. When did you go? It was giving pretty great rides this (EDIT: 2014) season.
  15. Maybe they don't want to use the standard train design. Maybe having a particular kind of shoulder harness will lower the height restriction. Who knows? We'll probably see Premier's usual setup, but in an industry that continues to innovate, you can never assume that things will always be the same based on previous installations.
  16. Cannibal is 208ft Tall and has a 116 Degree Beyond Vertical Drop, so there is ONE Coaster that has done it. But Cannibal is supposed to have A) short trains and B) a brake on the top of the drop. You get pretty sizable airtime going over the drop when you sit in the back on Fahrenheit at Hersheypark - with a similar drop profile and longer trains (eight or nine cars) it might get uncomfortable. Traditional hyper and giga coasters are typically super-popular so you really can't afford to put short trains on one.
  17. It very well have been Euro Star itself. The article wasn't completely clear on what was going to happen to the coaster after being dismantled.
  18. According to this article, Euro Star has been in pieces since 2011. ria.ru/video/20110916/438589248.html I guess that the local government wanted to change the park into a more "traditional" city park and the big, hulking roller coasters weren't part of the picture for whatever reason. While I like the idea of more city parks sprouting up around the world, Euro Star is legendary and shouldn't be hanging around in some warehouse.
  19. You, the adult figure? It is to laugh! I'm terribly sorry, but your princess is in an...I mean the majority of the internet disagrees with your opinion. http://kotaku.com/new-rollercoaster-tycoon-game-looks-like-shit-1689731858 www.reddit.com/r/rct/comments/2y1dix/discussionmeta_roller_coaster_tycoon_world/ Whether you're a coaster nerd or not, a bad video game is a bad video game. The linked discussions - gaming websites, communities and series fans - are the kinds of places where this game is going to get the most publicity. Nearly every kind of publicity that this game has gotten as a result of this trailer has been absolutely horrible. Oh, and for the record, Theme Park World and Theme Park Inc are the closest that anyone outside of Chris Sawyer has gotten to capturing the magic of the RollerCoaster Tycoon Series.
  20. ^ I'm not even that interested in Theme Park Studio anymore (in fact, I'm still waiting for that full-featured physical copy that I was promised when I pledged), as it's more of a theme park simulator than a game. I'm much more interested in Coaster Park Tycoon and Parkitect now.
  21. Well, I know where my money is going. ...or rather, where it ISN'T going. What a big "screw you" to series fans!
  22. It's a coaster that was recently built over in Norway. rcdb.com/11903.htm
  23. Yep. Lap restraint plus (bleck) shin restraint.
  24. ^ Fair enough. For whatever reason I've assumed that this project was already past the design phase.
