  1. Cedar Fair stated in a conference call that they may open some parks late this year so it makes complete and total sense that they would consider opening Cedar Point late so they don’t have to invest in the covid safety infrastructure that they already have in place from this season anyway. I’m not saying it will happen but the fact that they’re even considering it is just the most “Cedar Fair” thing ever.
  2. That’s absolutely fantastic. I mean... uh “oh no”.
  3. He never said it happened on the first run. As for who pays for it, Premier (unless they can push the blame onto some subcontractor). Moral of the story: If you ever need to retrofit a new train onto your piece of shit coaster, don’t call Premier.
  4. This story is the pick-me-up the world needs right now. I love everything about this.
  5. Probably. It’s a Christmas tradition.
  6. I like the Fantasyland Dark rides as things to ride quickly if the lines are short because they’re kind of cute (except Peter Pan which is ass), but they’re also clearly not up to modern Disney standards and they feel like something you’d see in a family owned regional park. I enjoy them because they’re old and fun for what they are but yeah... anything they can do to plus those attractions is a good thing.
  7. A few shots of Nitro this weekend doing what Nitro does: (From the Great Adventure Connoisseurs Facebook Page)
  8. I don’t think you get what I’m saying at all. As a fan, I’m really glad they opened Carowinds for like a month even though this event was really stupid because I got to ride two coasters and I was down the road anyway. I don’t care that they closed before what’s normally their most profitable week of Christmas because that’s not my problem. I’m thrilled that Kings Island opened a giga coaster in a pandemic year where they opened in July and had to cap attendance so it couldn’t really move the needle or do anything it was supposed to do but all of those things are objectively stupid. I said “If I were the shareholders”. They’re not going to go on a conference call and go “Yeah sure we suck at running a business but have you been on Orion? So much airtime!”
  9. It’s the most nonsensical thing... I’m not complaining about that because it impacts me in no way but if I were the shareholders watching how this chain has handled absolutely everything this season I’d be running.
  10. So we went to Taste of Carowinds yesterday since we’re visiting the in-laws who live ten minutes away. Before going I was confused as to why this event was even a thing and after going I’m infinitely more confused. I’d review it in depth but there’s no point since they’re now closed for the season since why would you want your Christmas event open during the holiday week where you could do daily ops anyway? Here are the cliff notes: - The food samplers were very hit or miss, mostly miss. The best thing was a chicken tender. It was bangin’ though. - If I paid to get in I would be livid unless I was the kind of person who just went to ride Afterburn and Copperhead Strike for hours straight. If I went for the Christmas stuff or the food like a normal person then I’d be pissed. - Cedar Fair should go to Six Flags and learn how to actually a run a theme park in the age of covid. I can’t believe I’m saying this but loading all rows on Afterburn but only in groups of two and having people sit 2 on the inside, two on the outside, two on the inside is the dumbest thing ever. Honestly most of the things that they’re doing make you scratch your head. - The decorations were really thrown together which was to be expected. - It was nice walking around looking at palm trees without a jacket on in December thinking about how thankful we were that Fury was closed for our safety. On the same day our friends were posting pictures of this: - On a more positive note like a half assed compliment sandwich, Afterburn is such a fantastic ride and Copperhead Strike is too. I ate crow on Copperhead. I had no expectations for it whatsoever but I love it. The first loop is just so great, so is the jojo and honestly the whole package is really solid. Anyway, that’s all I’ve got.
  11. These seem like mostly small improvements but it's still great to see.
  12. The first time Brit and I went to Universal it was like 50 degrees. I obviously wanted to ride the flume (Ripsaw falls) and Jurassic Park River Adventure but knew that those big splash boat rides often got you soaked so I bought a poncho for that because I wanted to check out the cool animatronic dinosaurs but didn’t want to get soaked. I wore it on that and then didn’t wear it on the log flume since those usually don’t get you nearly as wet. Anyone who’s been on those rides should realize by now how badly we fucked that up.
  13. We were there a few weeks ago on a day where they hit capacity. If you get there at park open you will be absolutely fine. If you scan in to one park you will generally be allowed to park hop though there may be a wait to do so. Luckily you have Express so you can just take the train and then you don’t have to worry at all. We used a few Express lines that day and they were all insanely short. You’ll have a great time. Just make sure you check for Hagrid’s Virtual lines a bunch in the morning by refreshing over and over (it’s not on express and will be virtual). If that doesn’t work, be on that app at 11am on the dot and refresh a bunch. Make sure you’re not on a ride at 11am. Make sure you have access to your phone. You’ll easily get a time. Other than that you don’t have to worry about a thing because you have Express pass. I guess maybe try to make an advance dinner reservation in Citywalk if you care but that’s about it...
  14. IDEAL: UK / Europe for 11 days in early August (We've already moved that trip like 3 times) California in September (I actually have more faith in being able to fly to another continent in August than California opening anything in September because... California) Maybe we'll finally go to Silver Dollar City but I say that every single year Canada's Wonderland just as an excuse to get the hell out of this country REALISTIC: Orlando because Florida doesn't care if we die Orlando again because Florida doesn't care if we die Orlando again because Florida seriously, seriously, seriously doesn't care if we die
  15. It's been much better than Hallowfest but it's still Six Flags. Mask compliance is also much, much better than it was because it's cold and because it's Holiday in the Park people and not Fright Fest people but don't expect Disney with that either.
  16. The first time we rode Roar we thought it was terrible, then a few years later we rode again after they re-tracked it and loved it but I'm not at all suprised to hear that it's back on it's way to being trash. Wild One was always pure trash in a wheel seat but a lot of fun otherwise. Not sure if that's still the case or if it's just trash everywhere now...
  17. What a weird post. My Google search for “Blueprints that are just shaped like dicks” let me down so I guess rather than making a joke I’ll answer this honestly... No.
  18. I’m not trying to defend this park because it sucks, but it’s common for the colder-climate Six Flags parks to run one train on all / most Holiday in the Park coasters to get a jump start on maintenance since demand for rides is a bit lower. New England runs one train on all of their HITP coasters and Great Adventure pulls a train off of all of their operating coasters too (though that leaves a few of them with two, but most run one). I haven’t been on Firebird but after riding Patriot I don’t doubt your experience one bit. It’s a shame to hear that the ride still sucks.
  19. Yup. Laff Trakk and Cupfusion are now listed as closed. I’m sure the Chocolate World ride will be closed also.
  20. If you’ve never been there then I get it but don’t expect it to be worth the money. Check the park alerts page before you go if you do it to make sure the coasters are all actually open, they’re usually not.
  21. If you’re in New Jersey and you want to ride a crazy Intamin, El Toro and Kingda Ka exist and you can buy a season pass that gets you in to that park and every Six Flags park in the world for a year for less than you’d pay to go to this completely mediocre park for four hours.
  22. Great news! They’ve carefully considered everyone’s complaints and finally adjusted the pricing. ... by raising it. It’s now $90.63 on weekends for a 4 hour time slot. Enjoy!
  23. Anything on any Six Flags web page at any time could be a typo, bad information because of a total lack of communication or anything in between.
