  1. ugh, believe me I know. I have an unhealthy love affair with Sky Rides and Log Flumes and in all my visits to this park (probably 4 or 5) I've never ridden either. I need to fix this immediately.
  2. El Diablo is tons of fun and it looks great. I hate myself for saying that but it's true.
  3. I'd be more excited if I didn't ride Green Lantern at Magic Mountain. That thing should either be scrapped or relocated to Guantanamo Bay. The only other similar style I've ridden is X2 which I also consider to be one of the worst coasters in existence. That being said I know this is a different manufacturer and has received positive reviews so I'm trying to be optimistic about it.
  4. The chairlift is probably the most unique thing in the park. It's pretty amazing, Knoebels is the only park I know of with anything similar but this one is at least twice the size of theirs. The highest point you can see from the ground isn't even the half way point of the ride.
  5. Last year when I found out they were done shipping for the season I decided to create a massive stockpile in the basement (we have a beer fridge down there but it wouldn't all fit). I have six left and now it's shipping again. Suck it winter...
  6. I picked up a Super Nintendo and decided to get a few games I remember enjoying as a kid. Can I just say that Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars is one of the most underrated video games of all time. Seriously this game is ridiculous.
  7. Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden and Jimmy Buffet at Jones Beach.
  8. Early season crowds are generally always manageable.
  9. So I'm fully aware that long range forecasts mean nothing but what's the rain policy at this park? From what I gather rain doesn't shut down any coasters but I figured I'd ask some of the locals just in-case.
  10. Lots of action today. The ride is testing (though not yet running a full cycle) and you can see the incredible amount of work being done around the ride. It looks like they're putting the cars back on the Troika too.
  11. I'm actually really impressed with how completely huge this thing is.
  12. Unrelated but I'm having the same issue of this picture of Bayside Sky Ride. There's got to be a larger version of this.
  13. So we actually have some proposed expansion news on this park and they might include a new steel coaster. Standard Amusements is interested in making some changes that look pretty spectacular. I'm not holding my breath but I'm really hoping this happens. New renderings appear to show a new patio dining area, a KMG Fireball, a Breakdance and Fury 325 (though I'm pretty sure that'll end up being some piece of crap portable coaster, lol). For anyone familiar with the park it looks like the Fireball would block the entrance near the Old Mill and everyone would enter near the fountain. lol is that Fury 325? Images from the Journal News.
  14. I'm so happy for this park. I can't wait to ride it and this is an incredible addition for them.
  15. I can not figure out for the life of me how a park map can be hard to follow. Especially if you are in the park. If you are in the park, and you look up and see Valravn, then you find Valravn on the map, once you find Valravn you will know where you are on the map. . . Follow the path in front of you, and the one that matches that path on the map, and eventually you will get to where you are wanting to go. I don't get what is so hard or confusing about that. Cuz I'm following the map that leads to you the map that leads to you, aint nothing I can do, the map that leads to yo... following following follow... I'll show myself out. Also are these people complaining about the map serious? Who cares? If you want to see an accurate aerial view of the park from above I have the perfect solution.
  16. No, it's definitely not turned that way just to make the map look better, this is a completely accurate representation of how the park looks. I saw them turning the ride on webcams today. It was cool, they just lifted it up with a crane and then angled it slightly and bolted it into place at a slightly different angle. It was a wonderful use of time and money and they're projecting the slightly different angle to boost ridership by approximately 700% next season (according to inside sources).
  17. Lol some lady even offered everyone else on the train chicken nuggets. Not sure why she had chicken nuggets or why she decided to break then out and offer them to everyone on the train while we were stuck on the midcourse of a hyper coaster at night in January but it was pretty damn funny. ... Needless to say we didn't eat the chicken nuggets
  18. Hey don't knock the MCBR, we had some good times on that MBBR during Holiday in the Park... right Boldikus? Lol
  19. I agree, they should paint the helix. Just the helix. Just to screw with people.
  20. With all due respect I fail to see how the cost of the ticket is relevant here. I'm not talking about paint, maintenance or anything that would increase operating expenses (except the grace period thing but I'm not calling for that, just honesty about when ride lines close). It would cost the park a grand total of zero dollars and zero time investment to speak of to be upfront about their hours and ride availability. I'm not making a huge deal about this but those seem like common sense requests, wouldn't you agree?
  21. This would makes sense but it was never presented that way until now. This is the first time Wednesday is being called a preview day. It was advertised as "Opening Day" with no mention of limited availability until I'm assuming they realized they would have staffing issues.
  22. This brings to light one thing that I don't get about Six Flags. Cedar Fair understands that the best way to make people happy is to under promise and over deliver. For example, last year Cedar Point had a passholder preview night. They released a list of rides that would be open. Half way through the night they got Dragster going which wasn't supposed to open and opened it up and tweeted that Dragster was open which everyone got really excited about. Sky Ride wasn't supposed to be open but it wasn't windy but they opened that up too! These are the kind of things you should do. Not realize you're going to be understaffed and let everyone know last minute that "Opening Day presented by Allegra" is now "Preview Day presented by Allegra" with limited ride availability. They do the same thing with their hours. They say they're open until Midnight but then close lines early. At Cedar Fair parks when they're really busy they sometimes extend hours (usually during haunt events) and at Cedar Point they give you a grace period at all major rides and close the lines after park closing. Under promise and over deliver. That way everyone's happy. I'm not here to tell anyone how to run their business but I wish they'd adopt that idea. I would think guests would be much happier to embrace it.
  23. I think the most likely ones will be the ones they cut off last year that can easily be closed off again. I'd say major rides in Holiday in the Park areas are likely to be open (except Twister... it'll be broken, it's good at that), I actually think El Toro and El Diablo will be open too. I would bet on Kingda Ka, Zumanjaro, Bizarro, Safari Off Road Adventure, Bugs Bunny National Park, Skyway and Runaway Mine Train being a crapshoot. Some of those were closed during the bonus weekend last year and the Golden Kingdom can easily be closed off. I'm assuming this is mostly a staffing thing, obviously I'm speculating though. I wouldn't say there's anything that's guaranteed to be closed but I think those are the most likely areas.
  24. Here's the link... Also Six Flags is advising you to... Everyone get to work on that...
