But that doesn't mean anything. They'll play everything off like a big addition. What are they going to say "We have a mediocre addition coming next year". This is how they described Pipe Scream... The website refers to it as a "One of a Kind Experience" and uses an excessive amount of exclamation points in their description. lol If thee plans for the 150th anniversary include exactly what I described, a bunch of dollar days, some fireworks and a lot of passholder ERT events they'll play it off as a huge deal. It'll be like a year long Cedar Point-gasm extravaganza! I'm not saying it won't be a big deal but the fact that they're pretending it is one means nothing. -

When I hear that they're planning on "Celebrating their Anniversary" I assume they'll do what Kings Dominion did which is putting up some old pictures around the park, getting nothing of interest and giving everyone who spends $150 or more in the gift shop the opportunity to buy an ugly 150th anniversary shirt for the low, low price of an additional $15. (Gotta keep with the "15" theme. And then they'll probably sell a bunch of retro "limited edition" shirts of old rides with a 150th anniversary logo on them like Wildcat and Disaster Transport because they know enthusiasts will buy anything. Not Mean Streak though because it'll still be running and annoying everyone. That's about the extent of what I'm picturing. -

Knotts and Canada's Wonderland. Canada's Wonderland is open all year though and has daily operations. it would be shocking if that park didn't beat Cedar Point. They also close and re-open for Scary Farm so they count the gate twice in the same day and they pack the place for Scary Farm. -

Cheetah Hunt and Maverick are in no way, shape or form reliable. Especially Maverick. Maverick is much more unreliable than most rocket coasters. Kingda Ka and TTD are the only 2 I can think of that break down even close to as often as Maverick does. Then again we have no idea what causes the rides to break down so much. It may not be the launch system. They all run a ton of trains and have a ton of sensors and components that play into it. -

I don't ride kiddy coasters so I don't really count those. I thought about Iron Dragon too but I have a thing for Arrow suspended coasters, even when that Arrow suspended coaster is Iron Dragon which really doesn't even belong in the same conversation as the other ones. Iron Dragon is also a tremendously popular family ride and it might appeal to more people than any other coaster at Cedar Point. Kids ride it, thrill seekers ride it, it doesn't go upsidedown. It's really a great attraction for what it is and the restraints are tremendously accommodating. It's a shame they raised the height limit though and it's a shame that they stopped using the 3rd train though I understand why if it causes the ride to set up and someone has to go through the woods to re-start lift 2. -

If this is true, that would be kind of a shame. I was hoping they'd keep it open until Labor Day weekend at least. Oh well, maybe we'll make a trip out on closing weekend anyway. You don't really have to twist my arm to get me to make an extra trip to Cedar Point. -

That would be a terrible choice for the 2 parks you just mentioned. They both need to add rides with much higher capacity than that. Sure the ride would be fun but capacity would be disastrous. -

Nah. My opinion of Mean Streak is that it's a fun ride and its criminally underrated but even then... if we were ranking Cedar Point coasters it would fall below all of them except for Corkscrew and Mine Ride. It's a better ride than Blue Streak if you ride Blue Streak in a wheel seat but if you don't Blue Streak blows it away. I thoroughly enjoy watching enthusiasts bitch about Mean Streak. I also think it's the most visually appealing coaster on earth and I'd always kind of miss it but if you replace a coaster that falls near the bottom of the lineup with one that would fall near the top (assuming it's on the level of Wicked Cyclone then it would fall below only Millennium Force, Maverick and Raptor for me) then I won't complain. I'm skeptical of this rumor though. I don't see them making this type of major investment the year after they added Valravn. I see something like what they did with Ghostrider as being much more likely. -

I just looked at the forecast. I think it's highly unlikely that any coasters will close. Windseeker and Sky Ride may be closed earlier in the day but I don't even think they'll be closed all day. Tomorrow should be a great day at the park. Have fun! -

As a public service, anyone who was planning on wasting precious seconds of their life quoting that WOFanatic post in the "Dumbest Things Said on TPR" thread... don't worry. I've got you covered. You're welcome. Because that's a thing that parks do... Besides Flying Turns is this a thing on any coaster anywhere? -

Literally the stupidest thing I've read on here, and I witnessed the hashtag craze from the last few months... I agree that it's amazingly stupid but I wasn't sure if I was ready to declare it the "stupidest thing I've read on here" as it would be facing some stiff competition until I noticed the use of the word "exponents". For whatever reason that really drove it home for me. -

Probably not a big deal. Storms with 90 MPH winds and microbursts are an extreme rarity. Plus don't ever trust a forecast on Lake Erie that far out.
