  1. Holy crap! A sunset picture that was actually taken at sunset! I'm impressed.
  2. I hope not, the parking lot is one of only 2 things about this park that I like (the other is Hurricanes).
  3. Score one for the Raptor snap! I agree, it's a fantastic ending.
  4. True, if you stay against the seat back on Mean Streak you're in for a world of sh*t. Front seat, lean forward people! Lol
  5. For those of you keeping score at home, even someone who's so fragile that they can't bear how rough Gatekeeper (the smoothest coaster in existence) is says my Mean Streak trick works. (Jk but wtf? Lol ) #TeamMeanStreak
  6. I used to think that was baffling but asking about the weather 3 months ahead of time really put things in perspective for me. Lol
  7. Lol wow, hopefully it won't be running like that all season. By the way, were they pairing groups of 2 with other groups? They did that last year which I've never seen on a Log Flume before. I absolutely hated that policy.
  8. I found some great information on that here and here.
  9. Great update! I've always wanted to take the Roosevelt Island tramway but haven't because I was under the impression that there was nothing to do on Roosevelt Island. Maybe I'll reconsider. Also, the new Yankee Stadium is an abomination. It shouldn't be allowed to have the name "Yankee Stadium", it's the most soul-less, corporate shopping mall with a baseball field in the middle of it I've ever seen. I loved the old stadium and the cramped concourses almost added to the charm. This thing is terrible, and as an added bonus the atmosphere it's created makes Yankee Stadium one of the quietest stadiums in all of sports.
  10. I enjoyed Banshee but I agree that it feels very different than the other inverts. And in regards to the snaps on Raptor and Alpengeist I don't deny that those exist, I just don't care. Being tossed around one time a little bit in a non-painful way doesn't bother me. Actually the Raptor snap is one of my favorite parts of the ride.
  11. Preach. It's the same reason people pay 20 bucks for a burger at a restaurant with a nice view. Sure you could make one at home for a lot less, but you're paying for the experience and the convenience.
  12. PS: I enjoy Pony Express. I can't justify it, it's not something I'd proudly admit in public very often but I liked it a lot. So suck on that. It's a family coaster and a pretty enjoyable and unique one. What's the problem?
  13. If you think your post was tongue in cheek, wait until you get a load of mine.
  14. On August 20th???? It'll be 76 degrees in the morning, getting up to 82.5 at 2:47 PM before a low pressure system moves in bringing some clouds and winds of 5 knots from the west by early evening. There will be a brief shower at 7:37 PM but it'll end by 7:48. Dragster will close but only for about 5 minutes so it's not a big issue. Remember to wear lots of sunscreen as it will be mostly sunny throughout the day and the UV index is high. The only uncertainty is that at 2:46 PM there's a cloud that may or may not develop into a brief shower but even if that does happen it will only rain on the back half of the park for a period of 30 to 40 seconds so nothing would close. It might even be a welcome relief given the heat and UV index. Oh and also... did you just ask what the weather would be like on AUGUST 20th??? They don't even know that the damn weather will do tomorrow. Lol wtf???
  15. If you're only going for one day then yes, buy Fastlane Plus. I'm not sure about tickets. If you live in the DC area I'd just buy a platinum pass and go to KD a lot.
  16. I never underestimate Cedar Point's ability to roll trains. They always manage to find employees to run their coasters.
  17. I'll say this about Banshee. While I refuse to acknowledge the existence of a "B&M Rattle" as I've never once experienced this I don't understand why they re-designed the invert train. I'm sure they had a reason, and I'm not an engineer so I'm not questioning them but it seems strange from the outside looking in. In my opinion, other than Schwarzkopf loopers, B&M inverts have proven to deliver butter smooth rides and maintain that smoothness for decades better than any other steel coaster type. A ride like Batman at Great Adventure which is 20 years old delivers the same amazing, glass smooth ride today as it did the day it opened 2 decades ago. Rides like Montu and Afterburn perform some of the most aggressive and violent transitions of any coasters anywhere as they enter the pretzel loops and despite their age they execute those elements flawlessly and smoothly despite pulling obscene G forces (elements that are on an entirely different level than anything Banshee does). This is true of most B&M's but the inverts seem to hold up even better than the rest, all of them run like they did the day they opened. It's really remarkable. For that reason I'm curious as to why they decided to update the train. It seems to me like they struck gold on their first try. PS: Please god don't let someone show up and talk about rattle on an invert or say something stupid regarding Alpengeist's cobra roll, Raptor's snap or something like that. At least wait for me to get home from work so I can have a drink before I read through that type of idiocy. lol
  18. Then why does most people at SFNE Online have the same issues? They rode it the first month with rave reviews, and now are saying the vibrations from last year have returned. I've been on nearly 150 coasters and I can tell you on my visit one of the trains was flawless, and the other had massage chair vibrations. It's not a sensitivity or tolerance thing. I think Goliath is similar to a standup in that body dimensions play a major role. I've noticed that taller people tend to hate it and shorter people generally find it more tolerable. There are exceptions to this rule but it seems to be the general consensus. Also, there's rightfully a different mentality about Goliath as it was a very smooth and enjoyable ride that only has these issues because Six Flags proactively decided to put a terrible train on it that led to a hilarious amount of downtime over multiple seasons and now a pretty crappy ride experience. Personally I also find it irritating that this park will never invest a dime in anything worthwhile like removing the rest of the Skyway towers or adding the missing row of seats back onto Superman but when they have an opportity to greatly diminish the ride experience on a ride that doesn't need fixing with no visible upside they make it rain. Superman was winning the award for best steel coaster on earth year after year so they decided to put new trains on it that nobody likes and then Goliath was a major hit with everyone so they decided to do the same thing. Obviously they had good intentions but both times the results were frustrating.
