My news feed was exploding this morning with Blackfish people taking credit for the attendance drop and anti-Blackfish people blaming Manby but if Disney is down then I don't see any feasible way that Sea World would ever be up. As much as they probably hate to admit it, Sea World's entire business model has always been about capturing a percentage of Disney's market and encouraging them to spend an extra day at Sea World. While it wasn't the case last year, it seems like recently Sea World has sort of bottomed out so I hesitate to attribute this to anything other than the city as a whole having down attendance.

No. They don't pair people at Dorney. Not only is there nobody else to pair you with but it's not their policy anyway. We always joked about forcing people to ride together on Thunder Creek Mountain. Believe it or not there were a few days during the 2015 season where we had to group on Demon Drop, but grouping isn't done on TCM because of the "crotch party" issue with that ride. Nobody wants a strangers knob on their back. Crotch parties are mandatory at Great Adventure. They love a good crotch party.

Oh right, I forgot about those. Oh and one more thing I forgot about. Ride Shenandoah Lumber Company! God I'm slacking today... -

You don't really need a ton of advice for those parks. Lines shouldn't be a problem, ride Volcano first at KD. Eat a Bavarian pretzel at BGW (over by Verbolten) and ride Apollo's Chariot in the very back row. Don't miss Escape from Pompeii at BGW. You barely get wet and the theming is great. That's about the extent of it. -

Carowinds Discussion Thread
coasterbill replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I feel like Carowinds sort of overreacted here honestly. Since it seems like the vast majority of them were almost of legal drinking age and none of them were charged with a crime it just seems a little over-the-top. 20 year olds do stupid things but the police didn't charge them and it had nothing to do with their ability to perform their jobs. I mean look, at the end of the day they have nobody to blame but themselves but at the same time it's hard not to be a little sympathetic because every single one of us probably went out one night with our friends and had a few drinks when we were 20. Carowinds handed down a harsher punishment than the police did and honestly I'd defer to the judgement of the police. They clearly didn't think it was a huge deal or that the kids deserved to be charged with anything. -
I think that's the difference. I hate theme park shows unless they involve animals. You couldn't pay me to sit through Iceploration again. What a pile of crap. Honestly the things I enjoy most are the presentations on the animals without the show elements. Things like the Cheetah Run presentation, the Elephant presentations, any trainer presentation at Sea World and One Ocean which has music and is presented as a show but is honestly just an educational presentation on the whales and a way to see them perform incredible behaviors. For cornball shows though I liked the pet one simply because despite the horrendous plot, all I really cared about was the training of the animals which was absolutely amazing. I feel the same way about Sea Lion high. It's corny but the animal behaviors make up for it.

Since I haven't been on a Star Flyer yet, can I ask what makes it better? Does it spin faster? Yes. And the chains really do add a great element to the ride. The only advantages to Windseekers are the capacity and lighting packages. -
Yeah we're the same way. The only shows we watch are animals shows. Two tips regarding that. 1) Iceploration at Busch Gardens Tampa (since you're going there) claims to have animals but it absolutely sucks. I'm pretty sure the only animals are some birds and a couple of Siberian Huskies. Do not watch this show. They have another indoor, air conditioned animal show in Pantopia and that's much better (though Corny as hell), the simple Cheetah and Elephant presentations are great. Also, while I highly recommend Sea Lion High because of how incredibly well trained the Sea Lions are, it's amazingly corny and the jokes might give you douche chills. The Dolphin show and One Ocean aren't corny at all. Crowds are usually really manageable. I've never had a problem with lines at Sea World other than Antarctica. Manta might get a long line but the queue is so cool that I don't mind at all.

Just because I am curious. . . Were you dropped/thrown on your head as a child?? The front seat on TTD is the only place to sit. You think there's only one row on TTD There is only one row on Dragster. -
I love Sea World because you really don't need a strategy. It's a great park to take it slow, sit by the lake, have a few drinks and do things at your own pace. If you're into the shows (which I'm usually not but Sea World is really a show type of park), just plan your day around those. My only suggestion would be to go to Antarctica first if you want to ride it but that ride sucks and I'd suggest just waiting in the "non riders" line because it's much shorter and the exhibit is the only thing worth seeing anyway. I feel the same way about Wild Arctic. If the line for the simulator is any longer just skip it. It's terrible and dated but worth going inside to see the Belugas.

JB's over by Goliath. It's nothing amazing but it's the best in the park and it's indoors with air conditioning. They have beer, wifi and Coke Freestyle too which is nice. Try the Boom Boom sauce. There's no guarantee you'll need a Flash Pass unless you want to try Superman VR. I'd go in with a "wait and see" attitude. Have fun.

These are great rides. I love the addition and sincerely hope Dorney follows suit.
